Subject: HALO RPG

hey so i was thinking u know wat the world needs more RGPs, both kinds, we can get the rockets from the sovvys and get they games from bungie, well hopefully. i know this isnt the right forum but they got rin if the halo general forums so here goes. i used to play RGPs all the time b4 i got xbox live and now days i dont see many of them. most games are shooters or kids games. so i think bungie SHOULDNT retire from halo yet and make some more halo. maybe taking place after HALO 3 ends. and i mean bungie has set it up pritty well as far a different characters. so someone could choose to play as a spatarn, getting ovious combat bonus. or as a ODST that is weaker then a spartan but has bonus on other RPG stuff and can sneak attack ppl. and just mix around with different areas like combat, or tech stuff or whatever. then your should get a a team together kinda like in mass effect and knights of the old republic only i think a 4 man squad would be better then a 3 man squad. you could have the ovious spartan and ODST team makes then get an elite like arby. or a brute and have a team of both human and alein. i left this pritty open ended so guys comment away i wanna hear some thoughts about it. also wat about a RPG based on the covenant? like the way Halo 2 has arbiter missions i think it would be cool because it would give a new feel to halo. also i wanna see what ideas bungie would have on elite classes or weapon upgrades

RPG's are stupid. Halo needs to stay FPS.
We all know what happens when halo tries a differant type.

You're comparing apples and oranges.

An RPG would be fun, but that is only because I prefer them. FPS games are more popular among the console gaming community (mostly because of Halo). I doubt many people like RPG's, maybe it could be made by another studio (343 industries?).

I'm pretty sure 343 is a producer not a developer. That means that they pay for games to be made, not make them. I think the idea of 343 is that they will make sure that anybody who wants to make something in the Halo IP can as long as it fits. 343 is the one who gets to pass judgment on what fits and what doesn't.

And yes, I'd absolutely love a well done (key words there) Halo RPG. In fact I'm dieing for a good RPG for 360 in general.

I have thought of a Halo RPG.

But where will it take place?

If the game took place after Halo 3, then Bungie would have to rethink all of their ideas for the ending, so one that fights in the storyline of Reach is possible, seeing as the covenant and the UNSC had fights before the Chief's role.
But it could turn into a Mass Effect situation, by moving from planet to planet, also including the possibility of in-space combat with dogfights of the aircraft of Halo 1.

If Bungie can do Halo RPG, I'll be a buyer.

The question is not where, but when. My idea of a Halo RPG is (off and online as it will be an MMO): For online, the war starts at Harvest, where it began. You can play multiple skirmishes during that time with other players. After a week (or a few weeks) the time period changes for everybody. All players are now at the second battle of Harvest (about 6 years later). More time passes, more planetary battles ensue, and soon enough you find yourself at Reach, where you can fight in space battles or on the ground.

It makes a great and good-selling title that is really fun?

  • 09.16.2009 5:58 PM PDT

i thought of this play mass effect accually so ya i mean even if it was made by the same people that made mass effect it would be cool. i mean i would be perefctly happy if it was mass efffect in the halo universe i really think it should be tried, halo is just such a huge topic. i mean with the info in the books, subplots, and just stuff bungie put in to make it seem more realistic you could make a great game with u super long story line. and as far as time i think if it was after H3 it would be great. i mean there really isnt and ending in halo. i mean ya the halo is fired and the flood is gome but what about the covenant? the brutes, grunts, hunters, jackels and stuff still have to be stopped. someone else could take over Truth's plan and bam! 3-5 more games its not that hard to contune a story like halo when u think about it

Anyone who had a PS1 is probably an RPG fan, they were awesome back then. The game was fun even though the graphics were rubbish. In modern days, they're the other way around.

Back on topic... I think there is a large enough community for a RPG but Halo is not the medium through which that demand should be satisfied. The Halo community in general would require a more dynamic gameplay than any RPG in existence, and any "shooter RPG" is much less interesting than it's melee counterparts: swords, spears, punching, and the occasional bow and arrow is the way RPGs should be. A good famous game to be made an RPG would be Fable, though they'de have to put more work into it than the dissappointment that is Fable 2.

not rpg as powers and stuff like that but more like armour or weps enchances like a energy shield or aimbot FTW!!! hacker!.. no its just aimbot you noob

  • 09.16.2009 6:05 PM PDT

ya i get wat ur saying about ye-oldly weapons in RPGs but i think having guns is just as good i mean look at mass effect it was awsome and it was guns. really if you think about it with all the stuff they made i really think it would work. the most important think they would have to do though is make it fast passed. sin most RPGs they higher level you get the stronger your attacks are to the point where a single shotgun pellet can kill would make it unfair but by having the AIs adapt to the combat and get stronger would be good. so like ther higher level you got the better ur enemies would be. like the skull in campain that promotes all the baddies. so once u reach a really high level all thr brutes u meet have gold armor or have a chieften with them, just to keep it difficult

  • 09.16.2009 6:09 PM PDT

its kinda funny look at the pic for halo reach doesnt it almost seem like a RPG TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i think one jst might be an elite just saying

  • 09.16.2009 6:16 PM PDT

This would be a great idea though a little big i think that maybe just a halo game with a basic level up system would be fun and i would buy either idea

the bunny must rule! My GT is ExBrother2 - Add me if you want to hook up for some ODST, H3, or any other game you've got in mind.

When I saw the photo for Reach I noticed how it did pretty much resemble an RPG sort of team. But I'm guessing the Elite like shadow isn't and actual Elite. I would have to say that it's a Spartan. Seeing as it's coming out after ODST does, there could be a chance that the game puts both ODST gameplay and Spartan gameplay together in one mass.

Which is something I thought would be pretty epic for a Halo RPG. Letting the player decide what faction of Earth they belonged to. Marines, ODST, Spartan, Navy, and so on. That would produce some pretty epic game play.

This is like Halowars,
Has the chance to be a Real Good game.
Has the chance to be a Real Bad game.

Plus Halowars is the largest Console RTS Game,
And Halo 3 is the largest Console FPS Game,
No reason for them to not go for RPG?

Why do we need more RPG's when we have Mass Effect 2?

  • 09.16.2009 7:48 PM PDT

ya and if each "class" has its own bonus so ppl didnt just play as spartants would be kick azz. i mean having diferent combat tactics would be awsome because being in tank spartan just isnt fun in RPGs

  • 09.16.2009 8:14 PM PDT

Don't eat soap.

While I love RPG's, the general community probably doesn't.

  • 09.16.2009 8:17 PM PDT

Agreed. But the option of having battles and moving on to different times is a hard choice. Instead of Mass Effect, it could turn into a Guild wars situation, where everyone starts out in a limited area, and after a certain point all players are moved to a new world. Adding a special Fight in space like battles would be a great thing.

i do not accept recruitment messages

RPGs are most of the time created based off, of medival times where things like magic, bows, and swords are primary weapons.
Fallout 3 just barely managed to become an awesome RPG
but fallout 3 was themed around post apocalyptic wasteland where complete freedom is given in both worlds

how the hell is a military soldier gonna grow into and RPG?

Simple. Just use that thing in between your eyes (ears?).
