I think it would be really cool and realistic if you could blow up walls in Reach and maybe a random explosion here or there that is programed to go off every few mins, maybe even and air strike from the covenant that would change the scenery drastically.(keep in mind that this is in MM, Campaign, AND FF)
That would give me the type of "in battle feeling".

Feel free to add-on your ideas that would give the game an "in battle feeling"

like artillery, random wraith mortars with a fully destructible area.

yes to make tiny bits of walls go off like in GoW
no to destroy every walls like in BFBC

If said random explosions had any effect at all on the game (such as injuring a player or moving anything on the map) I am opposed to this. Random stuff makes the game less fun IMO. But if the random explosions were just cosmetic or happened on the outside of the map... go for it!

This is Halo, not Mario Party. Random bull-blam!- has no place here.

The fact that Halo is full of random -blam!- is one of the things that makes Halo great; what other games have you seen where somebody gets killed with a traffic cone, sticks a guy who jumps into his teammates bubble shield and kills them all, gets smashed by a truck because a person threw a grav lift under it, or gets an extermination by ricocheting a sniper bullet off a wall?

If it weren't for randomness (Which makes it more realistic IMO), Halo wouldn't be as great as it was.

That's not random. Those things may seem random, but they are still the direct result of what a player is doing.

Random things are things that a player has no control over. Like the BR spread. Or the suggested artillery shells that could end your 30 kill killing spree. It wasn't another player who set off the event that killed you. It was the game engine.

That shouldn't happen.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Technically grenades are this. Alot of people just spam random grenades across the map and it IS that exact factor. Sometimes they hit their own team, sometimes they get a really lucky hit. But so many people do it, it's totally random who dies and who doesn't sometimes. (ESPECIALLY in FFA.)

But anyway, if similarily to Gears of War some maps had a shift in shape or change at some point in time (The idea of a map on constantly reshaping gravemind tentacles comes to mind...)
Or just a map where a Covenant Cruiser comes in 2 minutes into the game (this happens every time you play this map, once a game) and glasses down the middle, turning top-mid into a melted trench of glass. That would be pretty cool (so long as you do have that warning it is coming, and chance to get away.) Any of you that played Avalanche on Gears 2 would recognize this idea.

Games that have included fully destructible environments (I think of the early Red Faction titles etc) have never been as great as anyone hoped they'd be. It leaves the game unpredictable and glitch-prone. I think Bungie has done a great job, thus-far, in making certain items and environments destructible while maintaining the integrity of the game space necessary for a great overall experience.

I think the little I've seen from ODST has shown that Bungie has taken a great step forward in overall atmosphere. It FEELS like war. It FEELS intense and nerve-racking. The trick is to do this without destroying the nuts and bolts game-play experience.

yeah but a wraith shot and a grenade arent really the same... all the same i think as long as it cant really affect players (eg. game starts, house gets knocked down in middle of map before anyone can get to it) then id do it. would add to the effect. also FULLY destructible may just cause more lag, id say bits coming off walls would be better

I think Bungie's Forge needs to have some objects that don't disappear peaceable. You can set a box to not respawn, but if you knock it around it will still disappear (or respawn if the settings allow it to) This always bugged me.

Even if it doesn't affect the map, like that building explodes OUTSIDE the boundaries of a map, as a fleet of Banshees whizzes past, fuel rods it, flies over the map, and disappears out the other side.

whats halo reach

At the start of the War with the Covenant there was a planet called Reach, it was basically the base of all UNSC military operations. Most of the UNSC ships were built there, it is the home of the Spartan I and II programs as well as most of the research and devlopment took place there. It was pretty much an entire planet devoted to military and naval development. The covenant found Reach and destroyed it. At this time there were around 200 spartans. after the Fall of Reach there were less than a handful left. Halo: Reach is the story of what happened.

I'd love to see a full on giant battle, with spartans agains elites, tanks against tanks, trying to retake ground and push forwards. Maybe all in an effort to get to a military base, or even in defence of a base. But whatever it is, something epic in scale.

chill out dude, i was just saying this is Reach, if you know anything about Halo lore you'd know that the biggest battles in the Halo universe took place during this time period.
