Good lord the BR is the best thing that happened to halo. The only ones who complain about the Battle Rifle are the ones who get four shotted constantly. The BR brought competitiveness to Halo3. Can you imagine how upset the MLG community will be if they take out the gun in Halo Reach. They would move to Modern Warfare 2 if Bungie pulled that, And that's the last thing Bungie wants to hear on their review.
Ones who complain are the ones who can't use it.
Negative. The Pistol was what brought competition to the Halo series, not the BR. You must be a Halo 3 starter player.
And to those who think the BR is the only good weapon in Halo, you're wrong. It and the carbine are the only two weapons that are oddballs in the entire weapon set. Halo was originally designed for relatively close combat. Proof of this comes in the fact that the melee system is universal for all weapons in consideration that you wouldn't have time to switch to a melee weapon due to being too close. Grenades have the same consideration, since they are also a separate action from the other weapons.
On top of that, most combat in Halo CE took place in small corridors, valleys and rooms and anything that was open had a vehicle waiting for you. The game was designed to function differently than other shooters in that it wasn't about taking your enemy down ASAP from a distance, but tactical decision making in close quarters combat. The BR is merely a poorly crafted pistol re-skin. The BR is actually the WORST thing to happen to Halo, since not only did it fail to remain balanced with the rest of the weapon set but it poorly replaced the originally overpowered pistol.
My reasoning for this is that the Pistol, while overpowered, was balanced. All it needed was a rifle re-skin and a 5 shot kill instead of a 3. But Bungie decided for an inconsistent three shot burst, which negates any true skill the weapon hands and throws the victory to a random factor of who happened to have more bullets hit first.'
I also HATE those who say, "You don't like it cause you suck at it." Maybe I don't? I'm fairly good with a BR, but that doesn't mean I should be blind to the fact that almost any game which has an abundance of the weapon or starts with it boils down to a BR spawn killing fest. If you like that kind of stale monotony, go play COD4.
