Hey do you guys think there should be a cover system (kinda like Gears of War). I think it would be useful getting cover behind corners or pieces of rubble etc. (sorry if this is old)

comments.

No, in my experience Cover is awkward and bulky in games. I'd rather just duck behind something like in Halo 3.

if they do incorporate the cover system i would want it to go into the third person view while in cover because in first person you can never tell when a part of your body is sticking out.

like in perfect dark zero?

ugh, that was horrible. everytime you exited your cover the camera went insane and it took you a whole second to actually understand where your character is looking before being to move to the right direction.

Ya thats what i meant (3rd person)

Going to third person in an FPS ruins the experience for me, at least with cover systems. I'm ok with Turrets, but for some reason the Rainbow Six Vegas 2-esque cover where it shoots out to third person always gets to me.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Halo allready has the best cover system available, it's called "move behind that wall".

Dont underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

No.

Yes, really

I really dont know how to answer this other than go play GoW or GTA 4.

halo should stay the way it is.

eww...never

I didnt even like the Cover system in Killzone.

Cover only works on TPS games

Your friend is not a reliable source of information

no, don't be lazy, take cover yourself

I swear to DRUNK, I'm not GOD!

NO!

#1, Gears of War was a dumb game, and you know it! (for that matter, while the cover system worked very nice, it really restricted the gameplay... no running and gunning!)

#2, All cover systems in games are silly! Seriously... why do they always have to be in 3rd person, allowing you to see things you character could NEVER possibly see!? If they DO have a cover system (which I hope they won't) it would be nice to see the camera stay in 1st person, and then see how much people whine about how the cover system is 'too hard'.

#3 If they put in a cover system, what next!? Will my beloved grenade trigger be replaced with the function of 'aiming down the sights' like almost every other fps game nowadays? Maybe next we should include AK-47s in the game along with a grey-and-brown color pallet.

I just think it slows game play down way too much.

You, sir, are full of epic win.

Halo is Halo. Not Gears or Killzone.

I think it might be neat if the cover system was simply integrated into your movement, rather than button-operated. If you crouch next to a wall corner, you press up against the corner (not revealing your gun or body). When you stand up from that position, you don't actually stand up; you take a half-step out from the corner and can fire from that position. If you move, you end that corner-covering system; if you crouch again, you duck back behind the corner.

I think this is a good system because I can conceive of no particular downsides to it, especially if jumping and moving ends the entire control scenario immediately. And as long as the corner stuff is kept in the same perspective as the game, so you don't get confuzzled by that if you make the mistake of wall-hugging near a corner.

Holla bip bip!!

as long as it makes use of the useless X button.. haha am i right? get equiptment outta here. haha

but, seriously this idea is kinda annoying having two people hide behind a stone thinking. people don't think in halo.. they run n gun.

i agree halo 3 has an excellent cover system and i think it would ruin multiplayer if they changed it.
