Subject: Reasons why equipment shouldnt be in Halo Reach

I wanna see your guys' reasons for not having equipment in Halo Reach. For instance,

-People with shotgun and mauler camping in the bubble shield.

-People with the flag or oddball in the bubble waiting for you to come in.

-Regenerator being too powerful for battles.

Post your ideas!

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Thats the thing though, they can just re-balance. Like make the Bubble Shield so that you can't pass through it, in or out. Once it is deployed, those in are stuck, those out are out.

The Regenerator could also be made to cause just the Spartan to glow green for a second, as his shields recharge immediately, then start dropping again in the fight.

I swear, you give me ANY complaint about equipment, and I can re-balance that equipment so less people complain.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Reasons for Equipment:
Variety
Additional tactics
Additional teamwork
Additional map control
~3rd tool for players

Equipment's legitimacy:
Each piece has a weakness.
Bubble Shield: Shotgun, power drainer, spike grenade
Regenerator: any instant kill weapon, grenade + headshot, saturation fire
Power Drainer: short duration, rolls downhill
Portable Cover: frag grenades
Trip mine: glows yellow, makes noise, not an instant kill
grav lift: you can miss, not offensive or defensive
radar jammer: affects everyone equally
flare: affects everyone

Furthermore, equipment can be commandeered by other players. Unlike a Sniper Rifle or Rocket Launcher, where you need to kill the user and then physically pick the weapon off of his body, you can take advantage of the other team's equipment placement by forcing them out of it and using it for yourself.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

Personally I don't think equipment should be removed as much as rebalanced. Bungie should (and more than likely has) taken the lessons from Halo3 about how equipment will be implemented by the players. Take those lessons and affect the level design and weapons to mesh well with it. If equipment is added as an afterthought it will be off-balance again.

The only piece of equipment that I have a personal nitpick with the is the regenerator. That thing is so inconsistent it's maddening. I've seen people live forever in that damn thing, through grenades, sniper fire, shotgun fire and the like. Then i've also seen people drop one just to get gunned down shortly after, apparantly recieving little to no benefit from it.

I'm not here to post what you want. I am disagreeing with you. That is allowed in this forum, and I am explaining why I disagree with you, so that you have more understanding than "no".

When you make a public thread, you shouldn't expect just the people that agree with you to post there. I see an idea that I dislike, I am going to post my opinion. Comprehend that.
