The suit of armor. MJOLNIR. It is a suit of armor, and it can be destroyed. I believe that parts of it should be destroyed.

I say this in advance. It would require a great improvement of collision scripts, and graphics.

You have shields. You're running to cover while being shot at. Finally, your shields are drained and your armor is opent to damage. A bullet hits your fusion pack, irrovercibly damaging it, and, consequently, your shields.

This general concept could add to the realism of the game. Examples:

You get hit in the Visor AS your shields go away. The last of your shields weaken the blow, but the bullet manages to shatter the visor. Now your head is an open target, and your HUD, save weapon reticle, is gone.

You're hit in the hand as your shields disappear. You hold your AR with one hand, but your spread is increased.

You're hit in the leg, and your movement decreases.

Instead of general health, each section of your armor has health.

What do you think? And please, no flaming.

I remember there being system damages in X-Wing Vs Tie-Fighter that sounded pretty similar to what your talking about.

Here is my take on it. While that would look astatically pleasing and add to realism I think it would detract from the game play.

When you kill someone in halo 3 you can hide around the corner and return to full health. This helps with balancing and keeping that 30 seconds of fun (the average halo life) going. If you win a gun fight your invariably going to take some damage in the process. It would be rather disheartening if you had to suffer a penalty for doing well.

I guess we all have different opinions here. I would prefer the realism, but some want gameplay. Thanks for the input.

In my opionion, both of your statements are very interesting and interesting enough to look into further detail. I like the idea of realism with the shield damage consequently losing certain option in ingame action. It would be a neat thought for a game and if incorporated into Halo:Reach, it would be a very new/fun game hopefully.

That's what I was thinking. It would force players to be thoughtful, not just run around shooting people to death with no worries of repurcussions.

Yeah. I mean I think it would be a totally different outlook on the Halo series. It would incorporate all the different aspects of different games to create a more strategic game.

Hey. Buddy? Not the place for ODST stuff. There's a forum for that. Don't troll.

I personally think that level of realism, however cool it would be to see scar marks in the suit, might detract from halo gameplay. I think that at some point you have to look at each game and say "Do I want to play the game to have fun or to really feel like i the game is plausible?" Maybe have something like Legendary setting makes it more simulation-like but ultimately i dont think that this level of realism would lend itself well to the halo universe.

Perhaps it's a game type, along with Slayer, and Oddball, and Assault, etc. MM PLAYLISTS EXAMPLE:

Ranked:
Lone Wolves
Team Slayer
Team Objective
Big Team Battle

Armor Subtypes(i don't know what to call it): Lone wolves
AS: Team
AS: Objective
Big Team AS Battle

Perhaps a whole new subtype of playing. Or, an option, to turn it on and off. Perhaps in Juggernaut, this would happen to him, but no one else.
