The enemy of my enemy shall die next.

I know the voices in my head are not real, but they have some great ideas.

Brown chicken Brown cow!

Im just curious.

What do the mods do?

Is being a Mod a full time thing or is it like being a member and can do it when you like?

Are you all from one place? Or scattered?

How did you become mods? I'm not asking the last one so I can attempt to be one. I would only want to be a mod to change my avatar, would only be a part time mod hahaha.

What special priv' do you get?

Moderators moderate our forums with the capability to ban members, edit posts, delete them, pin and delete threads. They can also lock them and move them to other forums...
They watch out for spammers and deal with them accordingly... The Ninja way of course.

Being a mod is like moderating the forums on your free time and neccessary time. It doesn't have to be full time but maybe for the exception of Stosh or Shishka. They can go on the most.. Just be careful though..

The mods aren't afraid or scattered either.. They're everywhere and like ninjas, when the banhammer or locking threads is iniated, they can hide and not be noticed.. Get it?

To become mods, you must eat the path. You must play every single BUngie Game and know everything by heart of the 7th Column and Bungie. And don't even try to be one. You have a chance of nothing. And what's the difference of a different avatar? Just bragging rights....

Mods can ban members, pin threads or delete or lock them, different avatars, and special bright white font when ever they post in thread or topic. They are NOT marked by a golden septagon ensigma.. And one more thing, you do NOT get paid for this.

Hey baby, its all Kool and the Gang.

Wow, dude. Thanks for ruining an awsome thread. I was really interested in hearing the actual moderator's take on the subject. In fact, I was also anticipating some humorous and well timed remarks made on the mods' part like they always do.

Ruining? By giving the straight-forward answer? I think not... mods can still post thier querky remarks if they feel like it.

P.S. I wouldn't exactly call this an awesome thread any way (1 post = awesome?), and the poster probably got the answers he was looking for.

P.S.S. I dont see where he asked about mods being afraid, and I think what he meant by are the mods scattered is do they all work together in some office or are they scattered around the country. The answer to that is yes, they are somewhat scattered. Recon stated recently that his actual job takes him all over the place, and he mods when he gets the time to sit down and flip open his laptop.

The Mods are from various places.. You don't have to be living in Washington or where ever Bungie Headquarters is to be a mod. All you need is anticipation and everything else..

And Ledkashmir, I wouldn't count on that. You don't understand do you? Such a small mind..

What the Moderators do? Well… we combat the spammers and general jerks of Bungie.net. We try our best to keep the forums clean or to low spam levels so people’s browsing experience isn’t ruined by kiddy flamers who have nothing better to do and generally shouldn’t be on the internet.

Being a Moderator is not a nine to five job, we get on when we can do and do what we can. Originally all Moderators were once members of Bungie.net but we were picked out by Bungie and asked to Moderator there forums… when I say asked more like kid napped, put in a dark room and beaten with a very large piece of lunch meat.

Moderators are global! There are Moderators from all over the world, such as England and Australia just to name a few. Currently the bulk of Moderators do live in the United States but we’re all around the States as well.

See second paragraph for how we became Moderators.

Special privileges? Well we can ban, lock, delete, move and sticky threads, nothing to fancy. We also have the privileges of looking at disgusting links to see what they really are, being yelled at by fifteen year olds who can’t handle being banned and our number one favorite privileges… the awesome custom avatars.

I R dumb, what means rota? Rotation? Why, does it seem like its always a different mod answering? Maybe they dont like to repeat themselves, and it just seems like a rotation. If thats even what you mean by rota.

Actually, as moderators we do all sorts of cool stuff, like running really fast while using umbrellas (and manage to not look like tools in the process), carving scale models of USB flash drives, and coaxing butterflies to flap their wings so a tornado starts up in Texas.

I got a huge steak.

Nos told me in secret that he actually lives in another universe, and connects to the internet via gravitational waves. But don't tell anyone that I told you, it's a secret.

When you're a multiplayer bot you don't get too fazed by disgusting images that people tend to link to. Other privileges include access to miniature thermonuclear weapons (really miniature - I destroyed a colony of paramecia the other day, and created an intercolonial incident. Oh how we laughed), free transport through the Earth direct to Bungie studios (much more efficient than all that mucking about on the surface), and free lunch on Wednesdays (chicken pizza toppings cost extra).

You can get a custom avatar other ways than being a mod.

At least I think they still give you custom avatars for making a theme, and if not Rip should probably edit his sticky.

I think so too...it's just that Achronos hasn't actually gotten around to giving any theme creators an avatar yet.

True. But it's still a policy that you may recieve a grant for one. Even the people who have been granted them still haven't got them. They're just not on the top half of "The list" i guess.

We do have some fine user-created themes here. And yes, we do still have a few outstanding avatars to hook up for people. To be fair, that burden falls on me, not Achronos. You can bug him about other stuff like making groups better and adding forum search. : ) In fact, this forum thread has reinviograted me and I'm clearing my calendar and closing my inbox to devote my complete attention to retrieving and implementing the avatars for those folks who made kickass themes. Hopefully it will inspire others to send in more themes.

We are also talking about other ways to provide incentives for contributing in a positive way - including awarding custom avatars to folks. We're a ways off from any actual implementation but suffice it to say that just rolling out punishment after punishment isn't really a long term solution to making Bungie.net better for everyone.
