News Flash!, at 12:00 today on September 11, 3001, a group of extremist American cowboys crashed 2 large Arabian jet planes into the Pakistani world trade center. Was it coincidence, or was it just totally awesome, uber sweet payback!!!

I was just recently playing Republic Commando and I wondered, will Reach be like this or will it just be a normal 1 player with crap AI squad

"YOUR DESTRUCTION IS THE WILL OF THE GODS, AND WE ARE THEIR INSTRUMENT."

It won't be squad based.

Perception is everything.

I believe Joe Staten said something along the lines of "Yes, essentially, without the baggage of squad based combat", when an interviewer at GameTrailersTV asked if it will be like a squad. I interpret this as him saying you will be fighting alongside a squad in Reach, but you won't be using squad-based gameplay, as in Star Wars Republic Commando Style.

This. In other words, it creates the feeling of Halo 3: ODST where you are in a squad and everyone has a personality and their "niche" on the squad, but you don't direct them and there aren't classes. Creates a much better story than "Aliens stole your cookies. KILL THEM."

Definitely a lot better than directing people. Is it not better to have your squad acting like a cohesive unit than having to tell them to do so?
