Maybe this thread should not even be here and probably the moderators will have something to say about it, but i was just wondering if CGI graphics would work in a video game?

Now call me stupid if there is an obvious answer and i am just wasting my time because i am compltely iliterate to the world of Computer Graphics, Graphics engines etc., but, on the other hand, think of the possibilities if it were possible (is it possible?)

We could have all the beauty of Computer generated images in the palm of our hands. It would be the final frontier before Virtual Reality, im sure of it. The graphics in the Environment would be divine and game - makers would no longer have to worry about how to get faces right in game, for CGI faces are no short of amazing.

The explosions would literally ROCK, sorry about the pun! and interactive environments would be as real as breaking off a bit of rock at the beach yourself.

Your right. You know nothing about CG. CG movies are made EXACTLY the same way games are. With 3D programs. People still have to make and build these characters and environments. It's not like you push a button and a fully rigged and modelled character comes out of the computer. Those movies and high poly models take alot of work to do. And if you mean movie type CG graphics in-game, its not possible with todays hardware. Thats why they are put into FMV sequences where the engine is only playing a movie.

Have you seen the trailer? If that's the norm for what Halo 2 is going to look like, then I'm already it's -blam!- :)
