Seems something like the meaning for the word "Franchise".

It's basically the storyline. If something is non-canon it means it isn't an element of the storyline.

if something is cannon its considered accurate and part of the actual storyline, if it is non-cannon then it isnt considered part of the story and is just bull -blam!-
