1. Ok, someone has played too much World of Warcraft.
2. Spartans don't command frigates. They are super soldiers, and the UNSC wouldn't pay billions of dollars to make a super human captain.
3. This is based on Reach, not all over the galaxy
4. You can't ask for no flaming, it's something you should expect for in a thread like this.

Sound kewl with you?

1. i dont play WOW and hate people who do...
2. Lets just say this spartan does, cause the captain died and left him in charge!
3. I know this is based on Reach i only put that title to attract attention.
4. This is an idea thread and i ask for no flaming cause its just an idea, if i said "This is what halo Reach is about!" then i would expect flaming.

2.Spartans can't even lead Marines.
3. Don't do that, even more flames.
4.Ideas will always have critiques.
Overall, I actually hate this idea so much, that I want to shoot you now.

Spartans are enlistment soldiers (John is Master Chief Petty Officer). Enlistment units can't command marines, that is the job for the officers. That's why you never see MC commanding troops.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

SO MUCH BROKEN CANON IN THAT POST.

The whole owning a ship idea sucks. But the idea of a Halo MMO period would be cool.

You could play any race, and many classes, work up, and wage war from either side of the Human-Covenant war. Personally I would be an Elite Warrior.

But that is not Reach, and most the stuff you put on there either way is stupid.

In Fall of Reach they clearly stated that the Sangheili (Elites) were never seen by any UNSC forces at any ground battle BEFORE Reach. The UNSC only Hypothesized the existence of a commanding force aboard the ships ordering Grunts, and Jackals around.

The Spirit was not the only UNSC force to see them during Halo Wars, as there were Elites on Arcadia, and at the Second Battle of Harvest. Which NEVER happened according to the Books.

Also, the Arbiter's body was kicked off the Apex by a Marine after dying, if this happened, the existence of the Holy armor of the Arbiter during Halo 2 would not have happened, as the Covenant could not have retrieved it. The theory they created a new one is blasted apart by the Halo 2 line "Take heed. Your armor system is not as... new... as ours. Your Camouflage will not last forever."

And although it was a cool fight. Forge, would never have managed to take down the Arbiter. Not after suffering the snapped neck, broken ribs, internal bleeding, and overal fatigue he had at that point in time. As well, the Elites had more than an obvious advantage against the Spartans, although they lost.

Should I continue? I Will either way.

The Covenant had no idea at that point in time that the Humans possessed the ability to handle Forerunner tech, while Covenant Species could, so the way the Arbiter used Anders to activate the console makes no sense, all he could have known is that Humans have KNOWLEDGE of Forerunner tech, not that they were the key.

The Flood do not exist on shield worlds, they were isolated on the Halo rings so they could not escape into the Galaxy. The Shield Worlds are actually a safe haven FROM the Flood, built by the Forerunner. As well, the inside of a Shield World is not Hollow. The Core of the Shield World is actually a room with an advanced slipspace mechanism that traps you in a world that, in reality is the size of a Football, while inside the world, it is a massive, inverted planet.

Halo Wars was poorly researched, no use of the Halo Bible went into the writing of the plot, and in those regards, they broke Canon more times than I even listed.

Oh also, Honor Guards wear ornamental glowing armor at all times, not "Black and Red Combat Armor" Like in Halo Wars.

Yes, but a Spartan would not do that. It would make more sense if as a Spartan you could use a ship as transport from one planet to the other. But not control the ship yourself.

As well, if the ship your on gets into a fight. You better be ready to defend it and board a Covie ship. I know I would be on one of the Boarding Crafts hitting you in your ship :P

Let's see:
It's not likely that Elites weren't seen until 25 years into the war (Who drives the vehicles?), Bungie even announced that Halo Wars is Canon.

Who ever said that the Arbiter Armor is passed down from the previous owner (it could be interpretated that the role is), especially since the wars had Plasma Weaponry (which would make the metal into molten slag, irrepairable).

Ripa is not...like other Elites. He lacks Honor and is overly arrogant, not to metion that he has the tendancy to underestimate his enemies.

Sure, go on.

If you were to actually listen to a few of the cutscenes, Regret figured out that they could. Hell, he even knew that Humans were the (figuratively) decendence of the Forerunners (Damn you, Mendicant Bias!).

Techically, they weren't on the Shield World itself, but were on the outside layer trying to get in. They could have crashed landed there looking for survivors after the rings were fired (Once again: Damn you, Mendicant Bias!).

You sure about that? I mean, after all, Bungie said what they can and can't have in this game. You also forgot to say more about how it "broke" canon.

I see that as more of different studios. Things are bound to look different. I do find it odd, however, that ingame appearances of Honorguards look closer (armor-wise) to the Halo 2 ones, unlike the Cutscenes.

Elites: Actually it IS canon that they were never seen until 25 years into the War. Read Fall of Reach, it will explain everything.

The Armor of the Arbiter is a unique relic, they keep the same and pass it down as an honor. The same way a warrior of honor would bear the flag of his fallen mentor.

Ripa was still better, in every way, than Forge, and Forge was too injured to possess the strength to break the Elite's skin, even with a knife.

I mentioned that the covenant had figured out that the humans had KNOWLEDGE of Forerunner tech, but not that they knew humans were the key, as well. And although he knew the true being of humanity, he would never tell an Elite, it was a Hierarchy secret. The Arbiter does not know who the Humans are, and he is the one that USED her.

There were plenty of Flood on the inside (which I already mentioned was not like that in the books.) In case you can't remember, the whole last bit of the game was inside of the Shield World, and the Flood came en-masse through the ventilation system (that did not even need to exist because that isn't what the interior of a Shield World is like.)

Yes, Bungie never handed the Halo Bible to Ensemble. Nor did Ensemble even BOTHER to get any info on Canon from Bungie.

It is like that because Ensemble was sure what they were doing. They did not consult Bungie or the Bible, and ruined alot of Halo plot in doing so.

John may not be a commanding officer, but I all the halo games,so far,(mainly Halo 1),the marines follow him and stay behind his back,if John told them to do something, they would say "what should we do???".

  • 09.21.2009 7:29 PM PDT

Sure that sounds cool and everything but a few things wouldn't make sense. The Covenant rarely took prisoners. Mostly because Truth and the other prophets didn't want anyone to know they are Forerunner. It would make more sense if you were to gather enemy weaponry, such as a ship or something. Having your own ship wouldn't really matter. USNC ships would normally get their asses kicked by even the smallest Covenant ships. The only exception that comes to mind is when Captian Keyes destroyed four Covenant ships while commanding the Iriquios(sp?). I like the idea of upgrading virtually everything, but Spartans usually travled in groups before Reach. Plus if I remember correctly, I think they were using Mark III during Reach. If not please correct me. Those ODST weapons would be cool to use as a Spartan. That sounds like it could be pretty cool.

Here's the correction: It was actually Mark V, they had just been issued it. Spartans never wore Mark III, the first suits they got were Mark IV, Mark I, II, and III were unsuccessful.

Wort Wort Wort!

I've actually had a similar idea. Have the option to play as either the UNSC or the Covenant, both with unique endings.

If you play as the UNSC, Reach is destroyed and basically the Halo trilogy happens from that point on.

Play as the Covenant, and they succeed in eradicating mankind and then activate Halo, which winds up annihalating all of them instead of taking them on the Great Journey.
