I'm inclined to believe there will be a demo released.
I mean, look at The Chronicles of Riddick. The demo released with OXM ahead of the street date. Word of mouth spread and sales were quite high for this almost sleeper hit from the relatively unknown developer Starbreeze.
In comparison, Bungie is tasked with completing and releasing the single most sought after sequel on the Xbox. Not only that, but they have the daunting, but achievable, task of promoting the Xbox LIVE service like there's no tomorrow. Halo 2, and perhaps teamed with Doom 3 and HL2 later, are the kiler apps to carry the Xbox through the remainder of this year. Halo 2 is different from the other two for the reason that it is supposed to be a more accessible game. One that I think both Bungie and MS are trying to get everyone and their dog to play.
That said, unlike the release of Halo: CE, where the demo came out after the game went to retail, Bungie just might have a H2 demo before November 9th to seal the deal for gamers who might have been on the fence.
As Bungie has been emphasizing since day one, H2 is supposed to be the most encrushinating thing since Fat Albert went to work in a Sara Lee cake factory.
Either way, we just have to wait and see...
