Okay, here's my theory, i also posted it here on HBO forums.
It short its not so much a "theory" as random speculation to hopefully jog your minds. I keep hearing teh same theories coming up and not enough new ideas. So here goes (in its edited form)
Louis Wu - of HBO- warns that this very easily could not be Bungie’s doing! (but simply M$’s at large). Certainly, I think we need to at least look a little further out . . .

Okay, firstly, I apologize, I've been sick and just woke up (5pm) so i haven't had a good chance to see what people have already said and know, but as I lay in bed sick, a few things hit my mind that I felt compelled to share. I'm also sorry for not fitting this into a previouis thread, i coldn't really find another theory to tack this onto. Also, I probably won't do a good job backing up what I said, but my main purpose is to:
jog your minds, make you expand your borders, introduce new ideas, and ask more "why?" questions. "What" is always so easy to ask, and it appears easier to answer, but if we ask "why?" we can maybe narrow down the answers to the "What" questions with greater ease.
We should also look at the past, because history can foretell the future.
First off, "Why?"
What does M$/Bungie have to gain out of this webite? It could be a prelude to the Halo 2 story (if this is Bungie). Of course, "marketing ploy" keeps coming up, and while that's a great secondary objective, there needs to be something more "concrete." I find it hard to think Bungie has the time right now to keep such a great "puzzle" going during Crunch Time.
Some have speculated that the countdown is to an announcement to something. The amount of time, effort, and detail put into this ilovebees puzzle seems to necessitate something much much bigger. Personally, I'd hate to think that once the timer hits "zero" we are handed an explanation.
Could it be a "game" announcement from M$? Phoenix (as previously suggested by something)? The Widow story is intriguing. And it certainly hits me as a possible background story to Phoenix. About a queen - who is responsible for enchanting and destroying her kingdom?, But every vein of me wants to claim its Halo 2 related - the ship crashing, the babblilng of what appears to be an AI. . . . what would a widow story be doing in Halo 2?
It appears to be a Myth. But who's myth? The Covenants. The Forerunners? The Flood? Another race - ala S'pht, that are tangeantly related to the forerunner?
Could the queen be Flood related? In fact, in rereading it, I notice it appears like the Widow=Gs 343 who sails off to "ressurect" the Queen. Who's teh Queen? An AI? Something forerunner? Or Flood?
(remember, i'm just trying to jog your guys mind with some speculation)
Here’s one of my biggest “things” I’d like to argue about. Why is a 2004 webpage being hijacked?
I have previously asked "why would cpt. keyes/GS 343/kelly/" be trying to send mayday messages (as well as hijacking a website) in the year 2004? It'd make sense if Halo took place in the year 2004, but Halo took place far in the future. Which brings up my "prelude" idea.
How long have the covenant existed? Could it be that the Prophets united the races circa 2004? Or that they squashed a rebellion of another race circa 2004? And that one of their ship's AI's sent a MAYDAY message that hijacked a human website in the year 2004?
The babbeling, and repitition, and general nonsense of the messages on the site, while could be applicable to someone barely alive (read: Keyes being taken by the flood), it seems to be more easily attributed to an AI. I was struck by the idea while I myself lay barely coherent that it could be a Thoth like AI, sending a MayDay message out to the S'pht 'Kr -like race requesting help against the enemy.
There are so many ties b/n Halo and Marathon, that i think we may find some of our answers through parrallels in the Marathon universe. The S'pht 'Kr appaer very similiar to the sentinels is just one example.
Okay, I apologize again for my " brain's equivalent of a violent bowel-evacuation", I'll try and shut up now. I hope some of you guys made it through, and found it somethinig entertaining/enlightening, and I hope it sparks someone to find the answer. Sorry!
