I always thought it would've been cool if the Needler's melee consisted of the Chief/Arbiter flipping the Needler upside-down and impaling the enemy with the exposed needles, then jerking it away, *emptying the needles* into them, upon which the needles would explode and cause a one-hit kill. Not only would this be extreme to the max, but I think it would make the needler a more formidable/appealing weapon overall. The mauler has an improved lunge and damage, why did that occur to them before they realized how cool it would be to empty an entire clip of needles into a jackal's ugly mug in one kickass blow? and perhaps this could be optional; say you have to hold B or have a completely full clip before this can be achieved, but I think this is worthy of consideration. this could be done quickly without interrupting the pace or leaving you vulnerable like some cinematic executions in Gears.

*this would actually expend an entire clip of needles, or however many remain in the gun when the melee is used*

However, if this cannot be done due to balancing issues or something of the like, I would be totally content just to see that happen in a Halo movie. I just want the developers to realize they created a gun with the potential for a really awesome melee/finisher.

Include any cool ideas for the kill/medal name.
"stake/staked" anyone?

Maybe but then it would be even more powerful so maybe not in multiplayer.

yeah I'm thinking maybe it could just be extra-strong in MP, perhaps not a 1-hit kill.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

I wondered why that doesn't in Halo CE when you actually DID use the Needles to hit them. But even then, the Needle Dagger from Contact Harvest is more likely. A Single one-hit kill Melee applies to your next Melee attack when you pick up the dagger (It wouldn't be a weapon, it would just apply to your next Melee.)

"Don't you know?...Spartans never die".

im sure it would be awsome but it just dosent work for balancing issues, even the sword has a lunge so you have a potential to miss, its not always a 1 hit ko

yeah I always wondered that. the dagger would be cool too, would be an interesting power-up if it could be done similarly to overshield/cloaking.

I agree with this whole idea. I never understood the needler melee. It never made sense and it always seemed weak. I think if there was danger in sticking around after sticking some guy with all those needles then that would balance it out.

YES. that's what I was forgetting the mention, the explosion radius could be a potential give-and-take, a way of balancing the KO. good thought.

Considering in Halo CE shooting a whole Needler clip into someone resulted in a triple explosion, and in Halo 3 it was a double, I think we can assume this would equal an explosion with double, or even triple the radius and power of a regular one. A little more dangerous than a stick.

precisely, getting out of that radius in time would be epic by itself, and make the move much riskier than a simple sword lunge. this idea could have more potential than I thought, glad to see I'm not alone. thanks for the feedback.
