many people think that the forerunners were anchient humans because of things like the forerunner technoligy cant be activated by the covenant but can be activated by humans etc

But ive just noticed that the Huragok (engineers) were created by the forerunners to help them build things, use computers etc

So... if humans were forerunners why do the Huragok work for the covenant? and not help the UNSC? You would think that they would help the UNSC if the forerunners were human?

Also do u think there will be engineers in reach?

i hope not, i dont really like engineers

Well if you have read the books you will notice that the Engineers dont care what side they are on they just like to fix things. also the humans are not directly related to the Forerunners, but were more chosen by the forunners to be the guardian of life in the galaxy. that is why forunner artifacts activate on human touch.

If you would like to know more about them look up the HALO Wiki on google, it is a good place to start.

As stated by Hellfireoracle, the engineers truely don't care who they help, if something is broken, they seem to have some kind of strange impulse to fix it.

It was simply the fact that the covenant got to them first I suppose that allowed for them to be on their side.

ODST contradicts this. When you reach level 9 to get the Super, Dare tells you that they hate the Covenant just as much as humanity does.

As for original post... I'm not going to comment as this isn't a theory, its an uneducated post superceded by unresearched presubpositions. I differ comments to the rest of the community and the inevitable conflict to follow.

The Covenant, when excavating M-Series Forerunner facilities, discovered Engineers, and used them in their army. The Engineers help whoever is around, it just so happens that they are around the Covenant most of the time.

I think that the Forerunner evolved out of archaic humans off of Earth under the influence of the Precursor evolutionary acceleration technology, eventually re-discovered their homeworld and cousin species the archaic H. sapiens. They deemed us the Reclaimers and indexed us in the Ark.

Only few Forerunner made it to the Ark in time, and those that did would have been absorbed into the more numerous human species, creating a new sub-species of humans around 100,000 BCE... H. sapiens sapiens, which have ghost memories of half of their genetic ancestry. We are the Reclaimers.

And if you read the books, you could conclude that they were not "slaves". And though used by the covenant to repair their broken things, they weren't exactly forced to by anything else other than their own compulsive disorder.
