Its because there is no major competitive MP element. Luckily I think the campaign is better or I would be upset. Halo 3's campaign I only beat for achievements. You just summed it up exactly.
Competitiveness and achievements. That is all that the current generation of gamers seem to care about.
Bungie made this game as it is. People need to quit expecting it to be what they want it to be.
Well some people are just naturally competitive and I think if your an MP fan, you have to consider whether ODST is the right decision. I'm competitive at school and games etc.
However, I think, the vast majority of people who don't like are just not going to purchase ODST, rather then complain. I suppose that fits in not expecting it to be what they want it to be.
So far ODST seems like the best Halo campaign I have played, the one thing for cutting the MP is that the campaign actually seems to be good. However, I would have liked a competitive ODST MP, that would have made it a "complete package".
But I understood what I was buying, and I bought ODST mainly because I've been playing Halo for 4 years now. I understand if people realise that this game is not what they want to play and do not buy it, but to buy it and complain on the forums about how much they don't like it... That's just like a spoilt two year old who throws a tantrum because he didn't get the flavour of ice cream he wanted. Makes me sick.
Halo 3 ODST isn't Halo 3 multiplayer. If a MP fan bought the game and didn't like it, they should just say, "Ah well, it's not for me" and get over it.
If I order a meal and it doesn't end up being as tasty as I thought it would be, I'm not going to storm into the kitchen and rant at the chef because he couldn't cater specifically to my tastes.
