Nihilism (from the Latin nihil, nothing) is a philosophical position that argues that existence is without objective meaning, purpose, or intrinsic value.

Put simply in the words of Nietzsche as "the will to nothingness".

Firefight is an absolute blast! Great for a wrap up.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

Only flaw is no matchmaking for firefight.

You people really need to start thinking.

Everyone is saying that they spent $60 on a 5 hour campaign, a survival mode and 3 new maps. They don't mention the fact that there is all DLC and the whole multiplayer on the disc.

What people need to think about is the fact that NEW players too Halo can pick up ODST and get a 5 hour campaign, XX(I can't actually be bothered thinking about how many there actually are, 12? Who cares) bonus maps, firefight and spartan multiplayer. Thats what justifies the cost of $60. Just because you already have halo 3 doesn't mean that the cost should be lower. Thats just retarded. Its like buying an icecream, then buying another icecream with sprinkles on top, but then saying you should only have to pay for the sprinkles because you already have an icecream
You sir, saved the day! Have a cookie.

Don't be foolish. Is Halo 3: ODST worth $60 dollars to a new player who doesn't have Halo 3? Yes. But the target demographic was people who already have Halo 3. And the people who are saying it wasn't worth it are the people who have Halo 3.

  • 09.24.2009 2:16 AM PDT

I bought ODST for the story..

Am I the only one?

I seriously dont see anything wrong with this game at all, I love the storyline, gameplay, firefight, and the multiplayer disc is a welcome addition.

Go back to your Halo 3 multiplayer and quit your crying.

This game is the biggest let down ever!! Its a third of a game! No online playing and no matchmaking on firefight, i along with most already own Halo 3!! Bungie you could of made this game so so so much more and its not. Im afraid all the people that write here are die hard guys and will love anything bungie do but i think the majority of players that dont sign up to forums etc are disappointed with this game.
My friends list is full and everyone on it was met playin halo games. NONE of these players are likin this game. Firefight is fun but its not worth the full price of the game. CODs zombie killing is fun and so is this but.....
As for the campaign you walk through everything twice. Once as a flash bk and then again as you, its half a campaign. The visor is a great idea but the games so dark you have it on 24/7. Why not just make the levels brighter?? Instead of playin it with a mate shoutin 'shoot shoot run this way' etc we sat silence until we both said 'this is a let down'.
Halo 3 disc is a P### take im afraid. Why have we all spent money on halo 3 and all the level downloads just to be given it all for free??
I know its just my opinion but i think my points are valid ones. Sorry bungie....

Don't Go Dark Come Back To The Light ^__^

that's the problem with gamers today the expect a campaign to live up or exceed to something else they played forgetting to look at the individual campaign experience by it self of whether you had fun playing it or not, not dwelling on the price of the product or what extra content you get or not get.

You wouldn't know a polished game if it hit you in the teeth dude.... and THANK Bungie for giving away the maps with ODST, it might even bring you some new noobs to own online, including spare us all HDD space.

Xolu, I've got to reply to your ridiculous analogy:

Dude, that analogy doesn't fit at all, because a second ice cream cone is something that can be enjoyed in addition to the first, its not completely redundant and useless to someone who already has one. Everything on that second disc, aside from the three new maps, all core Halo fans have already paid for once, and Microsoft and Bungie know that those core fans are the ones lining up for ODST. So they know they are ripping people off, but they want to be able to say that they are giving you enough to warrant the $60 price, so they just threw in things that 90% of the purchasers will already have to try to justify charging twice what it is worth.

I totaly agree... ODST was horrible i beat the game the second day i had it. I played four 4h 43m and bam! Its over. I was pissed. So then i tried out firefight expecting it to be the comeback for the shortest campaign ever. First i started with some single player, and wasn't to happy. I figured it would be more fun playing with others online. Oh wait! no matchmaking! f that!

Its because there is no major competitive MP element. Luckily I think the campaign is better or I would be upset. Halo 3's campaign I only beat for achievements.
You just summed it up exactly.

Competitiveness and achievements. That is all that the current generation of gamers seem to care about.

Bungie made this game as it is. People need to quit expecting it to be what they want it to be.

Well some people are just naturally competitive and I think if your an MP fan, you have to consider whether ODST is the right decision. I'm competitive at school and games etc.

However, I think, the vast majority of people who don't like are just not going to purchase ODST, rather then complain. I suppose that fits in not expecting it to be what they want it to be.

So far ODST seems like the best Halo campaign I have played, the one thing for cutting the MP is that the campaign actually seems to be good. However, I would have liked a competitive ODST MP, that would have made it a "complete package".

But I understood what I was buying, and I bought ODST mainly because I've been playing Halo for 4 years now.
I understand if people realise that this game is not what they want to play and do not buy it, but to buy it and complain on the forums about how much they don't like it... That's just like a spoilt two year old who throws a tantrum because he didn't get the flavour of ice cream he wanted. Makes me sick.

Halo 3 ODST isn't Halo 3 multiplayer. If a MP fan bought the game and didn't like it, they should just say, "Ah well, it's not for me" and get over it.

If I order a meal and it doesn't end up being as tasty as I thought it would be, I'm not going to storm into the kitchen and rant at the chef because he couldn't cater specifically to my tastes.

Well said there, Skibs'.

All your base are belong to us.

Honestly it's a matter of opinion when it comes to likeing something (baring those games that are completely broken). Personally I hope to see another ODST game as I loved the story filler between halo two and three, and the characters are memorable. I'm not going to tell you that you should just stop posting "hate" messages, but I don't think threads started for the purpose of putting down a game works (as you will get flamed). Constructive critizism is different but you're not offering anything like that.

Just bought my pre-ordered copy of ODST tonight. Picked it up at 12:22 am and quickly drove it home to play. Already had friends lined up to do 4 player co-op. $60.00 for 3 new multiplayer maps that will be free in another 2 months, and a 5 hour campaign... That doesn't sound good I thought, but then this is Halo and we have all of the previous titles and loved each one. That list includes Halo Wars... Therefore I thought that this one has to be good. Long story short, the 4 of us all agreed that this is a terrible game which is chock full of shortcuts and unpolished hogwash. I plan to take my copy back to the store when it opens for my money back! Bungie - This is not worth $60.00 - not even close. This is a crappy game and that is coming from a Halo-fanboy. You guys lost a customer tonight. I won't buy another one of your titles. I am extremely disappointed by this game.

Let me remake this topic

Insulting people under the guise of "wanting to save them money" will not make them agree with you, which, ironically, is the whole point oof you making this thread. So you can feel all cool because "HEY GUIZ LUK TA ME, IM TLKIN CRPA ABUOT OSDT ON DA BUNJEE FOURMS"

So people have opinions that differs to your own. Boo frickin' hoo. Is it really too hard for you to comprehend? Obviously not, because you don't seem to consider anybody else's opinion to be worth a damn unless it's an exact copy of yours. You're no more smart or mature than the people you insult based on their mistakes with grammer.

As far as I know, you lose money when you trade in games the day after you bought them. And you know what?
HA FU**ING HA!
That's right, I see your situation as amusing. Why? Because you made a humongous fuss about it, whine about it on the forums and pretended that you as an individual person matter to Bungie. Now, had you just gone and done it, than that's fine. More power to ya, but less money to ya too. You make good decisions, you made bad decisions.

I bought this game, I had fun, and I still have fun. I'll be damned if a big girl's blouse like tries to tell me I didn't and that I wasted my money, because my opinion is different to yours, and more important to me than yours will ever be.

tl;dr; Cry some moar.
Get the picture?

Try making some friends in the classified forum, you might find more enjoyment out of Bungie's games if you're playing with people who you like and who like you.

I'm sorry you decided to skip out on all the interesting parts of the campaign though...there's easily 20 hours of play in there if you want to explore, get achievements, audio logs, etc. You really need to make the most out of your purchases from now on.

I love how people think Firefight is a rip off of Horde mode when Bungie had a survival type mode years ago in Marathon.

Heck, those modes have been around in tons of games. Max Payne for Original Xbox had one too. I used to play the heck out of that mode.

Ghost Recon had one too but it didn't escalate. It was just a hold your ground for one round kind of deal.
