Onyx Top 1% - #6 in the world (S4), #9 (S5)
Given Recon by Bungie June, 2009.

Try going through it solo. The campaign is longer than Halo 3's, and it's better.

I beat Halo 3 legendary co-op in 4 hours. I did ODST solo heroic in 7. There's just so much more...

And the maps won't be free in 2 months. Legendary still isn't free. You just got $28 worth of maps, for free with the game.

Go cry elsewhere. Your oppinions suck.

The King of Kings

I am sorry to say that everyone has there own opinions and each one counts. However, I hope your opinion is striken from the record and that your profile is deleted. Halo 3: Odst I currently pre-ordered and purchased for the soul purpose of recon, but I am happy to anounce that I fell in love with the game. Yeah the campaign is short, but fun. FireFight however is the best. I LOVE IT. I also have Recon for Halo 3: ODST and I helped more than 12 people get the Halo 3: ODST vidmaster achievment: endure. And dont forget Halo 3: Odst comes with a bonus disk which is Halo 3. So not only is it a bada$$ game but it is also worth more than $60. So do us all a favor and hang- I mean hug yourself for expressing your irrelevant opinion that in a way caught peoples attention, and hey maybe you'll get recon for a day or two just to rub it in your face that you wont get anymore halo games.

Dom ~ Thread Killer

That is your opinion, and I won't bash you for it. You didn't like the game, and I have nothing against you for that.

  • 09.24.2009 9:00 AM PDT

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and its ok to express it, but bashing a game on the site of its makers doesn't really make sense to me.
As for myself, as well as many others, I think the game is great. I've been dreaming of being an ODST ever since I played Halo CE on the PC. I say well done.

"Dear Bungie.net, we regret being stubborn bastards, we regret coming to this forum, and we most definitely regret that Darth Kooky blew up our raggedy-ass opinion!"

Really? I thought it was the best one yet. Bungie really outdid themselves this time. And were you playing on easy or something? Normal Solo took me 5 and a half hours and I ran through it. If I want to take my time and explore the city, it'll take me more like 8-10 hours. That's on Normal. Heroic or Legendary would take even longer. The story is great and I actually feel like I am the Rookie. The gameplay is solid and fun. Running and gunning is no longer an option and I've had more fun with ODST then with any other Halo Game ever. And Firefight is just pure win. "Awesomeness will ensue."

Now could you elaborate on these so-called "shortcuts and unpolished hogwash"?

Thats very true. I don't blame the people who don't like the game though. It seems to me that they are having bad experiences due to lack of skill and poor conection quality. They should relize that bungie said (I belive in one of the podcasts) that they were setting the difficulty to be much harder... erg: Heroic ODST = Legendary Halo 3.

You people really need to start thinking.

Everyone is saying that they spent $60 on a 5 hour campaign, a survival mode and 3 new maps. They don't mention the fact that there is all DLC and the whole multiplayer on the disc.

What people need to think about is the fact that NEW players too Halo can pick up ODST and get a 5 hour campaign, XX(I can't actually be bothered thinking about how many there actually are, 12? Who cares) bonus maps, firefight and spartan multiplayer. Thats what justifies the cost of $60. Just because you already have halo 3 doesn't mean that the cost should be lower. Thats just retarded. Its like buying an icecream, then buying another icecream with sprinkles on top, but then saying you should only have to pay for the sprinkles because you already have an icecream

It's completely different.
Icecream is a consumable commodity. You buy the first icecream, you eat it. It's no good anymore, you buy a brand new one.
A more accurate analogy would be if the only way to get a 120 GB 360 hard drive was to buy an XBox360 Elite. If you have a perfectly good regular 360 and just want the bigger drive(*cough* maps), you'd be -blam!- out of luck. It would help out Elite sales (much as the mythic maps help ODST sales), but it is a horrible and despicable business practice.
But Bungie/Microsoft take it one step further with the map pack. Thanks to recent history, I have no doubt that within 2 months the mythic pack will be required for all but 2-3 playlists that nobody wants to play (social slayer I'm looking at you). Going back to the hard drive analogy, it would be like games you already own suddenly requiring the bigger hard drive to play most of the content. I mean seriously, the original Halo 3 disc is absolutely worthless now.

The game is excellent.

Any halo title with 4 player co-op on is gonna get steam rolled you tard.
You need to have at least 4-6 skulls on legendary turned on with 4 players otherwise your going to steamroll the game. 4 people against AI without skulls is no match at all. You definitely need Iron, tilt, catch, and the one that upgrades all the enemies. Additionally you can turn on the one with 2x health for enemies.

Stop -blam!-ing and make the game more challenging with four players.
If your a halo player you should know you should always be legendary with at least one skull for every player in the game, if not one to two more.

Dumbass :)

To the OP, first off everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If you don't like ODST then that's you no need to try and convince people that they should return their copy or turn away from purchasing a copy. They're entitled to their own opinion just as you are yours.

Now, ODST with all the extras included is more than worth it's $60 price tag.

Don't call people scrubs, you're not pro and you don't even have a highest skill of 25 so you don't deserve to use such terms.

And finally you more than likely suck ass at Halo CE because ODST's campaign and Halo CE are very similar.

Stop trolling and go back to your troll cave.

Its because there is no major competitive MP element. Luckily I think the campaign is better or I would be upset. Halo 3's campaign I only beat for achievements.
You just summed it up exactly.

Competitiveness and achievements. That is all that the current generation of gamers seem to care about.

Bungie made this game as it is. People need to quit expecting it to be what they want it to be.

I think we have a winner.
I myself am a fan of the Halo universe as a whole. Rank and competition are not the reason I play Halo. And achievements are just for when I'm bored, the only thing they're good for is unlocking new armor.

It depends on playing style ... I found Halo 3 much tougher on Legendary than ODST ... patience pays in ODST, whereas being a little gung-ho in Halo 3 definitely has its rewards. I think some fans of the game will be flummoxed by this difference, and will shout about anything they can, since they don't quite get that acting like a Spartan won't work (unless you go for easy mode ... which is kinda fun, too).

Worth the money? Yep - good mission, nice addition to the overall story, excellent Firefight mode, and saved me buying a second copy of Halo 3 for my son (yeah - I'm OLD) so we can play Matchmaking at the same time (and not necessarily together, either).

A great game package. Looking forward to Reach now :)

Dlord knows all, hears all, and kills anything he sees.

I have to be a PS3 fanboy to play CoD? Thanks for your input, Creative. A true scholar. (You realize you can be an xbox fanboy and still could play CoD? It's cool, you obviously didn't know)

My opinion is this,

Do you have all the post-release H3 maps?

No = ODST worth $60+
Yes = ODST probably still worth $60

I was personally disheartened by the lack of content in the game. Specifically that there is no matchmaking or lobby finding system for Firefight. I work late and get home later. Most of the time, no one on my friends list is online. I have absolutely no option to play firefight with the thousands of people I know to be playing right now.

My argument is not that the game lacks polish or is not enjoyable, my argument is that a single lacking feature means I can't enjoy it [firefight] even if I wanted too.

And before any one of the idiots I know are trolling here somewhere says something like "get more friends" you sir, should go outside

I realy wish bungie hadnt released all the maps in one place like this. (actualy I personaly like it) It seems to give a bunch of fussy little kids something to focus the hormone drivin rage that makes up their puberty striken lives. Im sure that if bungie had released it under a moniker or through 343 Industries all these kids (who have slim or no idea whats going on in the industry) would be ranting about how much this game surpases halo 3.

your opinion is somewhat liek mine BUT i wouldn't put matchmaking in FF. why? just look at H3, the quitters, the betrayers, the weapon hogger who kill, the "pros" and the list go on. nuff said. add to this the connection problems? i wouldn't like to be paired up with an american, no offence mean, it's just that i stay in asia and it would create an unpleasant experience.

Can we let this thread die? I hate seeing this garbage on the first page.

If you dont like it you dont like it. I think this game was amazing.. in my opinion the best halo campaign yet. I beat it in probably 6-8 hours on heroic, took my time, enjoyed the open city. Only found 10 audio clips. I plan to get back out and find the rest later this week.

I can see myself playing this campaign solo a few more times, and co op a few more times also. Which is unreal because H3 campaign was not something i wanted to replay after my first play through. If it wasnt for MM none of us would still be playing H3.. thats a fact. ODSTs campaign has much more replay value, even just messing around with some friends in the open city can provide hours of fun.

ODST is stunning, graphics are definitely upgraded, the atmosphere, mood, lighting, its all so well done. This game has to be appreciated for its quality, not its quantity. Sure its not jam packed with features but what it does, it does well.

The ppl complaining are those who were expecting the next big halo game, complete with a new multiplayer experience. (Halo reach anyone?) They didnt get it, so now the rest of us are listening to their crying. They ARE entitled to their opinion, but if we dont post in their threads. They will die. I think thats a better idea that fueling the unappreciative fire of hatred these guys are spewing.

Bungie put a lot of work into this and for a bunch of low-lifes to come on and -blam!- all over their work is just BS. Show some respect, if your opinion is negative you should probably just keep it to yourself, making a thread entitled ODST SUCKS, is just ignorant.
