Here's my two cents.
I HAVE played ODST, it won't say on my profile...but I play it at a friends house and I have rented it. I play it offline.
Now...for those of you stupid enough to not understand ODST's potential, let me sum up the package.
Halo 3: ODST includes...
-BRAND NEW Campaign Mode.
-New Firefight Mode
-3 New Multiplayer Maps
-New Achievements
-A Chance At Getting Recon Armor
-All the other DLC Maps (Mythic Part 1, Legendary Map Pack etc)
Also, the campaign mode features a new storyline, new location and new characters. My favorite? New weapons.
Is Halo 3: ODST worth the $60? Absolutely. Not doubt about it, 100% definitely.
BUT. This is coming from a person who has owned Halo 3 and has all the DLC Maps. This is how the price layout thing would work out in my opinion...
New Campaign Mode - $10
3 New Multiplayer Maps - $10
Firefight Mode - $5
I think that ODST should be retailed at around $30. I know, M$ makes the prices, not Bungie, but still.
I wasn't a fan of the campaign, I love new things but I found that the storyline was dull and the missions where very confusing and hard to navigate. (Also, I never finished the campaign yet. I am about 3/4 way through it....so don't totally judge this opinion)
Firefight was mediocre. It's like Bungie tried to make use enhance the current campaign co-op mode. Which they did -- fair enough. But it wasn't revolutionary. Instead of "Neat!" We need to say "Wow!"
The three new maps I have yet to try, and they look good. But they should have been released as DLC. For around 800 M$ points. Would that be too much to ask? The three new maps were the #1 thing I was anticipating. So basically I have to pay $60 for 3 maps I will thoroughly enjoy...and campaign mode and firefight mode which are just...okay...
NOW --- ODST is totally 100% worth it for those completely new to Halo. They get the awesome online multiplayer with every possible map available. They get a new campaign and some other nice features. But for me...and for many other experienced Halo 3 Players...I was disappointed.
I don't like ODST. I am discontinuing my play through of it...Bungie, do us a favor and release the 3 maps as DLC.
You guys may hear the roaring cries of a troll in the background, but this is coming from a die hard Halo fan - I don't like ODST.
I love my Halo 3 and I recognize Halo 3: ODST as a great game...but it has no relevance in my taste of games. Probably won't make sense to you...but I'm serious.
I am not dissing ODST, I am expressing my opinion. There is nothing wrong with that. As for myself, I am keeping my money, and waiting for Reach.
