Heh watching you call ODST a failed and pathetic game hit me. Play firefight yet? Betcha haven't. I played 2 hours of firefight with a bud of mine and we got bored we kept killing each other but the laughter and fun it brought couldn't be matched by horde. Firefight is indeed the reason for my 60 bucks and always will be. Now, if you'll excuse me, it's time for a melee fight with a brute cheiftein(gravity hammer).

Its because there is no major competitive MP element. Luckily I think the campaign is better or I would be upset. Halo 3's campaign I only beat for achievements.
You just summed it up exactly.

Competitiveness and achievements. That is all that the current generation of gamers seem to care about.

Bungie made this game as it is. People need to quit expecting it to be what they want it to be.

Well some people are just naturally competitive and I think if your an MP fan, you have to consider whether ODST is the right decision. I'm competitive at school and games etc.

However, I think, the vast majority of people who don't like are just not going to purchase ODST, rather then complain. I suppose that fits in not expecting it to be what they want it to be.

So far ODST seems like the best Halo campaign I have played, the one thing for cutting the MP is that the campaign actually seems to be good. However, I would have liked a competitive ODST MP, that would have made it a "complete package".

But I understood what I was buying, and I bought ODST mainly because I've been playing Halo for 4 years now.
I understand if people realise that this game is not what they want to play and do not buy it, but to buy it and complain on the forums about how much they don't like it... That's just like a spoilt two year old who throws a tantrum because he didn't get the flavour of ice cream he wanted. Makes me sick.

Halo 3 ODST isn't Halo 3 multiplayer. If a MP fan bought the game and didn't like it, they should just say, "Ah well, it's not for me" and get over it.

If I order a meal and it doesn't end up being as tasty as I thought it would be, I'm not going to storm into the kitchen and rant at the chef because he couldn't cater specifically to my tastes.

Not very professional from a forum ninja to say that people should stop complaining because they are not satisfied with the purchase.

The thing that has me laughing is your comment on the taste of the food. In most cases if youre not satisfied with your meal at a restaurant you can get your money back or order something else for free of the same price or you can have them make the same thing you ordered but made to your taste. Because lets not forget Halo being compared to food, given the high expectations of Halo, you wouldnt find Halo at McDonalds but at a 4-5 star restaurant expected to serve tasty food and feed your needs. So far ODST doesnt feed my needs and many other ppl as well. So, I wouldnt compare Halo series to anything because it stands alone from everything else. Deal with the complaining or stop being on this forum and/or stop working for a gaming company.

I havent finished the game yet but so far am not satisfied with the Single player and IMO is not much different gameplay and am getting bored. I still feel like superman on Normal difficultly just as much as I did on the Halo 3 campaign playing as MC.

I must say TheEasy1JM I tip my hat to you for having the bravery , or foolishness whichever, to post such a topic here. What with all the "Call a whambulance" [very original btw], "YOU TROLL!", and "Nobody gives two craps what you think". A very admirable move, in a biased forum of course.

Most of your arguments are well thought out and all of them have no contradiction towards each other, and I agree with you that ODST was not worth $60. I can honestly say I would not pay full price for only one feature of any game not even GOW2 Horde which I still have fun in to this day. The claims of buying ODST soley for FireFight, better be a complete exaggeration to get a point across. The maps included are a great plus, but get this, only for newcomers.

Look it's very simple to understand what has happend here, those who are stuck on the bungie train pay as much attention as your brain washed mind permits. Ok so Bungie released the Legendary map pack, besides ruining one of the best maps of CE, it was alright. Here's the tricky part though they made it required to get the full experience of multiplayer. Ok so they cornered a lot of people into buying that DLC, as if that wasn't a dirty enough buisness scheme, they release the Mythic MP. Looks like the CEO of Microsoft will get that island after all, he just needs to make this MP required as well. So now you need to also buy a MP with a map [Sandbox] that looks like it was designed by second graders. And to put the icing on the crap cake they release ODST with the same maps you just spent $20+ on and Halo averaging $30-$60 on, now you have to buy a "completely new game" for 60 more dollars , true halo fans have just spent $140 plus $20 more dollars for future DLC and don't forget the Heroic MP that many inpatient fans spent on. So let's see $170 worst case for those true Halo fanboys and for reasons not known to man, they feel like the price is just? Might as well start wearing tight purple pants and leather jackets and go buy the complete Guitar Hero set. This can be completely overlooked if you're new to Halo though.

Let's just face facts, no matter what intellectual level a person is on, they could never convince the people on this forum that they got one pulled over on them, even on a big time scale like this. Heck I wouldn't be suprised if Bungie killed all their parents, burned there homes down, beat them senseless, and smashed their hopes and dreams only to be awarded for presistant "effort" to bring them down. I do believe these people think it's a real good game, but because of what bungie has done to these people. Bungie's popularity is so big that it makes people believe it's a good game, like mind tricks. When really it's just about or not more than subpar.

Now about the actual gameplay of this game. The drastic change from a run and gun game to a more strategic type was very risky and took some getting used to but for the most part worked out. As for FF nothing new there but as much as it has been used in many games it's always a fun addition, and in ODST this was no exception. I feel that they were trying to get past the oversaturated colors from halo 3 so much so that some parts were close to unplayable withouth the night vision, they could have simply toned the colors down a bit. Also the lack of not being able to dual wield is almost as ridiculous as not having guns with flashlights in doom 3. These ODST can walk faster than the Chief with the detachable weapons but somehow can not endure the strength to pick up two pistols? Also I know this game is its own "entity" due to the standards of full games and expansions, but in heart it's an expansion, so shouldn't expansions add more content in game. I mean two new useless weapons? oh yes and the addition, moreover subtraction, of no dual wielding and being an ODST. To conclude the gameplay, I do respect Bungie on making the game harder to beat than previous titles however.

Overall this is a repackaged Halo 3 with some modifications. For those who haven't tried ODST but have played H3 let's put it like this: Pretend it's halo 3 but, you die easier, it's less colorful, if you run and gun you're dead (even in normal), and you are not a super soldier, the rest remains the same. What can I say about ODST? Well I don't think this game is horrible, at most it's a good game at worst a disappointment. I did not have any expectations for this game I just wanted to play it and see how it was now I know. Now what do I think of ODST price wise? Well for the hardships all the Halo fans have gone through It's complete and utter bull crap and a ripoff. Those new to Halo it's a very good welcome and is worth close to every dime. But truthfully there's not many new people coming into the Halo experience. The funny thing about my post is that I really do feel for the Halo community for spending so much money on a single part of this franchise, only to be frowned upon and flamed. I like Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, heck even parts of ODST are enjoyable (Halo Wars was not to my likings, I'm a PC RTS'er), but I'm not in a state where I can't think for myself and see when I am getting ripped off. If you can't get over Halo and have been turned into a zombie I am sorry for wasting your time and I hope you enjoy ODST until Reach. But if there is still even a hint of sanity inside of anyone in this forum, please heed my words and notice a hoodwink when you see one. I'm not trying to get you guys to have an empiphany and demand a refund or not buy the game, I simply ask of you to notice the pure dog s**t Bungie or Microsoft (whoever the culprit) is making you go through. Excuse my French but it is more than necessary.

I would like to close my opinion with two things. One- for those few of you who think this is the best game ever (even best game of the franchise), I am sorry that you grew up or never experienced any other games, I truly am. There should be a donation program to give you guys money to buy a wider variety of games, that or you're also brainwashed and sorry for wasting your time once again. And two- for those of you less mature, sorry I mean "witty", that will say something along the lines of "who gives a crap about what you think" or "go cry somewhere else you cry baby, whiner, troll, ect.". I'm entitled to my opinion and so are you and any negative opinions are worthless to me, IMO of course

Thank you for reading my novel for those intelligent enough to get even 1/3 through

I love you.

So do I.

Exactly how I feel.

Skillet, Skillet, Skillet..... How sad I feel for you. Completely involved in a game world, oblivious to the world around you, no real skills, incapable of being a productive member of society, complacent in your pathetic virtual half-baked life. I am an avid reader my friend. I am also an Author, and if I had submitted a half-baked idea such as the Halo ODST story to my publisher she would have thrown it in the trash faster than you can lick Bungie's boot after they kicked you in the face. Sorry I upset you. Now don't you think you should call mommy so that she can change your diaper?
Carefully read the posts. Go back and read them. Get out your phonics book if you need to. I only insult people (kids) that insult me first.

And look, when you get offered valid points, you ignore them and insult whoever said it. Please counter-argue if you are going to make a point instead of going to the normal 7 year old approach of insulting whoever bested you.

I understand why you dislike Halo ODST. The campain is shorter than the other Halos and other FPSs and also if you already bought all the maps on Halo 3 than it's paying for the ones you already bought. That makes sense to me. Also Firefight may just not be for you. Bungie only had 12 months to put out a game unlike the 3 years they usually have. I know its really easy to make fun of the people who love it and don't understand why you don't like it. For me personally a think it's an ok game. I wasn't wowed like I was when Halo 3 came out and I played it for the first time. Also I wanted to clear something up if you didn't know the three new multiplayer maps on ODST will not be released for download as stated by Bungie. One thing that I'm looking forward to though is the chance to be in the Halo Reach Beta, that will be cool. Bungie says they're making a new engine for the game and also it will have a three year development cycle. I know you were trying to save people money but I think most people made up their minds if they were going to get it or not. I'm sorry that you didn't like how the game turned out and would like to see a reply from you.
Hey man, I appreciate the comments. I think I just had such high expectations from all of their other games. I read about it, and saw all the marketing so I expected another gem. However what I got was a quartz crystal. I was very disappointed, but I know they worked hard on the game. I just think that they should fight for the fans and put out a quality title or none at all. Bungie has to know that this is a weak title.

Game was a waste of money. Only worth 1600 points at most. It's an add-on repacked as a new game. Total Rip-Off. Fire fight??? A.I. BS.
I agree if it was marketed and sold as an expansion pack only. Then I would not complain. In my opinion Battlefield 1943 is 10 times the game that this sorry title is. 1943 was $15.00 (1200 MS points) on Xbox Live.

I will definitely play the Halo Reach Beta before spending anymore money on Bungie. That game had better be good, but at this point. I doubt it.

Firstly I would like to say LOL.
Secondly I would like to say, If your criticism has nothing constructive in it why complain.
Thirdly if your such a Halo fanboy you must pay attention to the story line, and should be including the canon info in the cost of this game. So if your not playing for the plot, your buying it because you wanted a game similar to Bungie's other titles and if that is the case you pretty much got what you asked for.

For the most part you probably haven't even played, and you definitely haven't played online.

One more thought before I hit the sack. Bungie - I feel that one of your employees should come on this forum and apologize for making such a crappy game. Apologize to all of the fans for taking their money with this kindergarten production. Maybe then... in some small way... you can be redeemed.

Here's an ideal for REACH. Market it and hype it up really well. I mean to the extreme. I want magazine ads, website ads, viral marketing campaigns, tv spots, you name it. Next make FireFight Multiplayer. Make the ODST retard dual wield, Throw in a horribly written campaign (hey this time just give him a flashlight- no enemies- and a where's waldo board. That way you could have an 8 hour campaign where the Rookie looks in the dark for his girlfriend or something) Next slap on a $100.00 price tag (most people on this forum say they would spend that much so you can increase your price-point!), and throw in all of the other Halo 3 maps (that everyone owns) and 3 bonus maps (that no one wants to play). Finally tell all of your brain-washed fans how revolutionary it is and that it is a brand new gameplay experience. You should really make some dough off of that one!

I need someone from Bungie to admit they screwed the pooch, and to apologize. If you guys are too cowardly to post something on here. Then send me a private message with a phone number that actually works and I will call you. That is unless you guys don't care about your customers.

Why should they come on and apologies just because you didn't like it? I mean Bungie's thinking:
"-blam!- you, millions of other people like it. We don't care if one or two people don't like it."

So, I'm sorry you didn't like it, but thats just too bad for you because I FREAKIN' LOVE IT.

Hey Bob, what are those things jumping across the rooftops like majestic warriors dressed as Spartans with their heads on fire?

Oh, that's just the Bungie ninjas. Mess with them and they'll bring a hammer down on your head that's so big, they have to keep it on Jupiter 'cause it won't fit on Earth.

Asking for an apology like that is just rude. I was begining to respect you form earlier posts I just read but looking at that it is just horrible, alot of people like the game so why should someone apologise for a small percent of people, the reason why the odst can't duel wield is ecause he's human, not a spartan, it's supposed to make the game more realistic and give it a differant feel. And you want them to over advertise it? you said the problem with odst was you got over hyped and dissapointed.

Just calm down, I understand your angry but your just the type of person who likes the online, this was for the story more.

Why can't he dual wield because he's human? I just don't get that. I can dual wield with 2 - .45 Pistols, as a matter of fact every person in any John Wu movie can dual wield. I just don't buy your explanation. You guys must not be gun owners.

TheEasy1JM is right, this game does suck. First of all they made us buy these map packs and then only to add them on in this game, I want its own multiplayer that is not just halo 3. The campaign is easy I beat it on Legendary in about 4 hours I didn't bother to play anything less and the campaign was boring and repetetive. If you are ODST why do you only drop once. Firefight is horrible play Gears of War or COD5 not this. Also, who cares about the option to get recon its not special. Everyone will have it and it won't matter.
