Subject: Halo ODST sucks!

Guys this is my first ever post on the forums. I felt compelled to share my utter disappointment with ODST. Me and my mates had intended to buy the game, though after the failure of Halo Wars, we thought we'd err on the side of caution. (never should have believed rts could work on console. not a bad try but a failure none the less). We're all glad we didnt waste our money buying ODST.

The campaign was short, boring, repetitive and easy (we played coop legendary). Saying it's tactical and that you cant run in like master chief and pwn everything is bull-blam!-. Maybe it's just that I hated the constant use of night vision and fighting in the dark but I don't think so. Don't ask me why but I just dont find it as fun to kill the covies as the other Halo's, it's wierd. Oh and not fighting against/alongside elites was pretty -blam!- (they're kool).

Firefight was ok not great. Definately better than campaign.

Long story short we returned the game the next day without bothering with the other two days we had it for, the beach was much more fun :P

Anyway thats my bit.

And for perspective, I enjoyed Halo 1 the most (played it through so many times), then Halo 2, then 3 (all 3 are awesome games though).

Not sure what the hell this has to do with ODST being bad, but I'll indulge you.
CoD isn't designed for run and gun. So don't say the game takes no skill when you don't play smart and get a 1.00 k/d ratio or worse.
Skill in CoD is defined by out-positioning everyone else (and changing that position once you're exposed). Whether you like it that way or not it is a skill. If there wasn't a skill gap I wouldn't consistently out-perform the majority (or all) of the other players game after game after game.

So you don't know what a shnoon is?

Everybody keeps saying that they packed 28 maps in the second disc so it's totally worth it. Exactly how many of you don't have halo 3? 15 maps came with that. Another 10 came out on the marketplace, 4 of which are free. Many already bought all these maps on the marketplace. You all must really be too stupid to realize that this was supposed to be an expansion, but there was not nearly enough and no new multiplayer to make a new game, so they made it seem like you were getting a great deal by getting 28 maps, even though you already paid for 25 of them.

It was a fun 4 hour campaign and 4 hour firefight but I'm sick of the game right now and I dont want to play ODST again for a very long time

So you don't know what a shnoon is?

Also, realize that you just paid the same amount to get an expansion as you did for the full game of halo 3.

  • 09.28.2009 5:35 AM PDT

you only think the game is bad because your bad at it, you havent even played ODST online and on Halo 3 your highest skill is a 22 and you've last played in December of last year so come back when you have an un-bias opinion.

Wakka Wakka Wump!
No I freaking told you to cut the hose off, if i told to pull it off then i would have said pull it off. Now you broke the AC you dumb ass.
Me to my mother.

Who cares now, you people bought the game after numerous reviews and critics said it was a short campaign. Its your fault for not heeding their word.

6+hour campaign plus re-playability, new game mode firefight, 100GS worth of achievements, recon armor, 3 new maps for MP, every map for MP, new MP menu and menu music, oh and best of all HALO REACH BETA!! Another good thing is a secondary MP disc which you can have another copy for a LAN or if your old one is damaged (mine was).

ODST isn't meant to be "Halo 4", it's just an expansion, which is why Halo 3 is in the title. $60 is a little much, but that isn't Bungie's decision, it's Microsoft's, which they overcharge everything so get used to it. I think it should have been $40.

I miss the days of Halo 2.

I'm glad I payed only $39.99 for mine.... Yes, alone ODST isn't worth 60 bucks, but the Halo 3 multi disc that comes with legendary, mythic, mythic part 2 map packs which are worth a total of $30. I think that's enough to prove my point....

well maybe not all DLC but lol agreed. People shouldn't justify the price this way.

Wow, I'm really suprised this topic, created by a troll, has gone so far. I'm going to borrow it, play it, get the achieves, and if I like it, meh, I'll buy if half-off from someone who hates(sucks) at the game and be on my merry way.

  • 09.28.2009 5:56 AM PDT

$60 lucky you, in Eng we payed £35 which into US money turns into around $70, scam alert lol.

I enjoyed ODST a fair bit. Parts were a bit boring but visuals were stunning. Watching the ODST pods being dropped at the start was awesome and so was the Space Elevator falling down. Those were some jaw dropping moments for sure. Plus it was cool to be in the boots of the ODST for a change. Spartans are pretty much gods on the battlefield. To actually feel a sense of mortality in the game was refreshing, because while playing Halo 3 you knew the Chief wasn't going to die. Also the fact that these are new characters also adds a bit of mystery to their fates. When Romeo was injured you really understood that these are actually people, humans whereas Chief started to feel like a machine. He didn't show much emotion which is partially because you couldn't see his face but also because he spoke with little compassion or emotion in general.

I enjoyed ODST, bottom line. Awesome voice acting, nice visuals and a whole new spin on the Halo universe.

P.S, who doesn't love Nathan Fillion?

Dont get too wrapped up in the Internet. It's already forgotten about you.

Are we honestly letting this thread go on for so long?

ODST kills the H3 Campaign by far.

I'm not even going to get into this because obviously the OP is a troll and this thread never should have gotten to be 27 pages long.

ODST offers more gameplay value than most titles out now.

I'm actually ashamed I posted here, keeping this thread alive.

You best be trolling.
Or have down syndrome, either way.

For 60$, you get a game, a shatload of maps for free, some not even available otherwise. A new campaign. Firefight. The opportunity to unlock Recon. A free pass to the Reach Beta when its done.

And more.

Stop your whining.

What he said. And the possibility of new Firefight maps (DLC)

  • 09.28.2009 9:28 AM PDT

Wow kid are you kidding me??!! This game comes with (at some point) $40 dollars worth of halo 3 multiplayer maps, a decent campaign, a fun new multiplayer mode, and if u try for it, the armor that everyone wants... Recon. Your clearly not a halo fanboy. Go play PS3 or Wii now!
