That's the whole point of Sandbox. If anything, the stock map isn't meant to be played at all. It's there for the same reason Foundry is there. For Forge... and people have made some pretty amazing things on both maps.
Also, I am a real hardcore Bungie fan. I've played Marathon, Myth, Pathways into Darkness, and currently own all of the Halo games. Including the special edition Halo 2 and Halo 3 Legendary. I also bought the Halo 3 maps previous to buying ODST. But the fact that I now have all of the maps in one place, plus the vastly superior than Halo 3 campaign... and Firefight, makes up for that to me. Yes, I payed for the maps twice. But I can't accept that and the reson for why they did it. Though, I DO think it would have been better to release a $30 version of ODST that came without the Mythic disk. But it wasn't my decision to make.
Exactly, glad we see eye to eye now on Sandbox. It is the most perfect map for forge so far never denied that, but for everything holy please keep it out of Match Making.
As far as you coming into acceptance of basically buying the maps twice is great. I can't nor will try to make you raged about having to have bought the maps twice, as dirty of a trick as it was. The idea of releasing the ODST campaign along with FF for $30 and releasing the maps as DLC would be a far better deal and more reasonable, but as you stated it's not up to us.
Okay,so let me get this straight. Because an idea has been done before... the current execution of said idea is somehow a flaw because it has been a done before. I'm sorry, but that means every single game... every single one in this current generation of consoles, and every generation since the Playstation should be counted as "unoriginal" because it's all been done before. When it comes to games, it' al about how you can change a previous idea. Very rarely does a game come out that sports a new idea. It's all in how well it's executed. If you can't see that, you probably shouldn't be playing games. Especially current generation ones.
It's not flawed, it's not exactly the same, heck most are different in many ways. I'm just saying no matter how many things you do to it, it's a survival game. What happens in every survival game? waves of enemies come that you must defend yourself and it gets progressivly harder. While the same could be said for any genre of games but I believe that would be an over exaggeration, respectively. Each game has it's own storyline and features. Yes I actually agree many games today are complete duplication of another game and those cliche titles don't make it very big. The games that sell though do bring something new something versitle. Sure you can say all FPSs are the same because they all have guns and you shoot enemies. Or all RPGs are the same because you level up, or RTSs because you make an army and strategize. That is just a gross over comparison though because survival modes bring the same thing, the same exact thing every time but with the differences that come with the game.
Maybe it was how you said it. But I simply don't see it that way. And the game is supposed to be a bit more gritty. You're not the robotic Master Chief with his flashy Spartan moves and colerfull space adventure. You're a glorified Marine fighting a war on Earth. The art style is perfect for the game.
Once again apologies on me for not interpreting that more correctly. I was just giving a personal prefrence of not having too many pitch black scenes, which the games can go on with or without. I also understand that the darkness was exactly what Bungie was going for, I was just giving my opinion.
I agree, it's all about style. Personally, I don't like getting very close to my enemies. Which is why I also don't use the shotgun often. I'd rather snipe them from far away. But like I said, dual wielding limits the amount of actions you can perform. I'd rather be able to throw grenades than use a second firearm. And yes, the pistol should b everyone's tool of destruction. lol It's practically the ODST Battle Rifle. As for the "new smg" argument... yeah, it kind of does. Just like adding a scope to the pistol in Halo 1 made it more than just another pistol in a first person shooter video game.
While it does limit action it's also about how much you can put up with. Do you want to have to drop the second weapon to throw a grenade? Do you want to have to pick the weapon back up after a melee or weapon change? Really all about style so we can't argue there. I don't think I would use the automage in MM mutch I didn't use it much in campaign (call me crazy), but I was content to finally see a fast fireing pistol in halo. I still feel like the new smg is Bungie's way of being lazy while still calling it new. Just imagine they placed modifications on all the weapons on Halo 3 and said they added new weapons on Reach.
Honestly, the only time I thought about Halo 3 was when I was thinking about how much better ODST is.
ODST is definitely a "love or hate" game. Personally, I love it. It's my Halo 2. :p
Also, I'd like to say... I respect your opinion far more than the guy who made this thread. At least you can argue in a civil manner. Thank you for that.
Really? Well good for you (in a non hostile way). I kept thinking about How much it was like Halo 3 until the controls and night vision caught up to me lol.
I would also like to thank you for putting up a civil debate and taking the matter lightly. I too respect your opinion and very much expect a rebuttal :).
