It would be a frustrating 5 hour campaign.
If not a 10 hour frustrating campaign.

I agree with this guy. I think all you are just sticking up for ODST because you loved the original series and you don't want people putting down your favirote game. C'mon guys , seriously? I bought the game I beat it, I don't think it's work going through it again on legendary. Firefight is alright if you have live. But it just take WAY TOO LONG! I mean it challenging and all but, I don't have the patience to just kill some brutes, grunts, and jackals for about 5 hours. ALSO it is our opinion , If you don't beleive this Back the hell off.

Or maybe because its our personal opinion?

I dont really care for Halo 2 or 3. They were just filler games for me. Not bad games, but nothing special.

ODST personified the way Halo games, to me, were supposed to be like. No I am not talking about the flashbacks but the openness. The ability to explore and see your environment and enjoy it.

Halo CE is not my favorite of the series, though it is close (just behind ODST). The reason why is because it is so linear. You have only one track to go on. It is just bland canyon walls or ship corridors that you go through over and over again. There are no alternate routes, no real secrets to reviel (except in CE but thats because it started everything).

Not only does ODST make me feel like a human in the game, it makes it feel like it is a real possability for our future.

If you dont like Firefight then its your loss not ours. I enjoy playing offline (thats all I ever do) solo or with a friend. It is challenging for me and for my friend. We push our selves to the limits of our skill when doing it.

And it doesnt have to last 5 hours, it lasts as long as your willing to play. Do a few 30 minute games and see how far you get.

But in anycase I believe that ODST is ment to slow down the pace of Halo players. Make them think about their actions before jumping into combat. To bring them together at home so they can have a good time instead of running from one 20 minute slayer match to another. But that is just me.

Just bought my pre-ordered copy of ODST tonight. Picked it up at 12:22 am and quickly drove it home to play. Already had friends lined up to do 4 player co-op. $60.00 for 3 new multiplayer maps that will be free in another 2 months, and a 5 hour campaign... That doesn't sound good I thought, but then this is Halo and we have all of the previous titles and loved each one. That list includes Halo Wars... Therefore I thought that this one has to be good. Long story short, the 4 of us all agreed that this is a terrible game which is chock full of shortcuts and unpolished hogwash. I plan to take my copy back to the store when it opens for my money back! Bungie - This is not worth $60.00 - not even close. This is a crappy game and that is coming from a Halo-fanboy. You guys lost a customer tonight. I won't buy another one of your titles. I am extremely disappointed by this game.

you are crazy the game is the bomb.. needs one or two things but it is a solid game ....

  • 10.17.2009 2:05 PM PDT

agreed odst is and expansion not a actual game and no expansion is worth 60$. you dont think so think of how cod6 is going to -blam!- odst and its only 60$

  • 10.17.2009 2:06 PM PDT

I despise Bungie, they're one of the worst studio's out there.

You best be trolling.
Or have down syndrome, either way.

For 60$, you get a 3 hour game, Free halo 3 maps for free plus 3 maps that are not available anywhere else in order to FORCE you to buy this game. A campaign that makes you want to cry of boredom. Firefight with no matchmaking ability. Recon (Because it is THAAT good). A free pass to 2weeks of Reach Beta 6 months (when the game will be worth 25$ used.

Thats it!

Stop your whining.

There I made some minor amendments.

ODST is expansion length, but most "full" games these days are too short as it is.

ODST made an incredibly enjoyable rental for me, I just wouldn't buy it.

Do like me, wait for your friends to finish with it, and borrow it for 3 hours, time to finish the campaign, firefight, play some mythic, and then give it back.

open ended is what I'm after. immersion in story and depth to what you're doing.

I agree with OP....ODST lacked on the excitement end.

Firefight is cool, but wasnt worth 60. Its also pretty lame because after round 5 its the same thing OVER and OVER and OVER. On the higher levels there should a round every so often that takes some or all of the skulls off. Otherwise to me level 5 seems like you beat it and have seen all it has to offer.

And for god sakes, drop some weapons! Jesus I go from -blam!- zombies which has oodles of weapons and 4x as many bad guys, to 2-3 gun spawns MAX? Yay, thanks for the sniper and rockets.... This game would have been so much better with more guns, and equipment also.

I wont bother commenting too much on the campaign. Anyone who enjoyed running around that god awful city back and forth and back and forth is crazy. Plus, the music sucked. Here I am trying to shoot grunts, and they keep playing crappy sax and piano riffs. LOL what was that about? Plus minus master chief makes for a sad attempt at so called combat.

Is it too much to ask for some new bad guys? Seriously firefight could have benefited from at least ONE new enemy....Brutes and Grunts? Those guys are old news.

And why does everyone get so upset about it....Stop crying? Im not crying haha.

The game sucked. YOU get over it.

The problem with halo 2,3, and ODST, is that their campaigns lack and real interesting story aspects. Its simply run to this tower, activate this switch. (or in ODST-Run to this "beacon", play through a flashback, and so on) There is no real story to the gameplay, combat etc. Basically just activate switches, and kill random covenant in the middle. The covenant dont interact like real people or beings. The just stand around or get dropped and wait for the master chief to come kill them.

The game sucked for you. Please do not state opinions as fact, clearly they are not.

If you agree with the original post then cool, however that still does not invalidate others feelings about the game nor the points that have been given (legitiment points atleast) by myself and many others.

Otherwise what is the point in thinking for yourself? Might as well let one single brain do everybodies thinking for them so there is no issue.

Point being, dont toss out everybody elses points because you do not agree with them.

You might want to include Halo CE in that as well. According to your logic Halo CE falls into the exact same pattern as all the other games.

I'm sorry guys but I sort of agree with him. I think ODST is a weak title. Even the Horde mode is weak in comparison to Gears of War and Left 4 Dead. I own Halo 1 - 2 for the Xbox and PC and Halo 3. This is easily the weakest title to date. The single player campaign is atrocious, the Multiplayer maps are outstanding and Horde (Firefight) mode is OK.

I do admit I am glad that Bungie gave us something to play between Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, but I was disappointed with this release. I am by no means going to cease purchasing Bungie titles. Concordantly, I am not going to automatically like anything Bungie releases like some sort of robot. They have to earn my seal of approval and I expect they will when Halo: Reach is released next year.

RIP Halo 2 Multiplayer

Well that's a relief - I almost bought Halo ODST, but at the last second, I decided to buy Halo 3: ODST instead - which, by the way, is a great game.

Just bought my pre-ordered copy of ODST tonight. Picked it up at 12:22 am and quickly drove it home to play. dude did you do the campagn on normal 4 player co-op? because if you want a longer campgn do what i did and beatit on legendary solo. theres an extra 4-5 hours there for you. dieing multiple times. trust me do that an theres your long campagn.

my opinion: the game is great because it's halo and also because you need to stratagise more to win.(your not a walking tank anymore). plus it's cool that your battling the war from another perspective(ODST). I like the fact that you don't have recargable energy sheilds lke master chief does. makes the game a lot more fair. firefight is fun i got to tell you that i think i would of liked to see was some thing like a pure wave or round of some sort, which is basicly one type of enemy. but i think it should start doing it when you start the 5th set. i would love playing one wave with 10 golden hunters on alpha site that would be amazing. if you havn't noticed every new game that comes out for PS3 and XBOX 360 is 59.99 +tax. they wont make a new game 20 dollars. they will lose money. also it's not bungies choice to set the price it's microsofts job to do that. bungie probably wanted the the price to be 40 probably. don't blame bungie for this. bungie works hard on these games and some people don't realise this. they try to make money they don't want to lose costomers.

you also need to think abou the time and effort they put in this game this isn't drawing class. they need to put the idea together, put good audio, basically the entire story line together and put it in animation i should say finalize it and burn it in disks. it's more work then what you think.

  • 10.23.2009 6:20 AM PDT

3 hour campagn? i bet you did it on easy with like 3 other peaople. the campagn isn't that short.

try beating it on solo legendary and tell me where you got the 3 hour campagn thing.
