I agree with this guy. I think all you are just sticking up for ODST because you loved the original series and you don't want people putting down your favirote game. C'mon guys , seriously? I bought the game I beat it, I don't think it's work going through it again on legendary. Firefight is alright if you have live. But it just take WAY TOO LONG! I mean it challenging and all but, I don't have the patience to just kill some brutes, grunts, and jackals for about 5 hours. ALSO it is our opinion , If you don't beleive this Back the hell off.
Or maybe because its our personal opinion?
I dont really care for Halo 2 or 3. They were just filler games for me. Not bad games, but nothing special.
ODST personified the way Halo games, to me, were supposed to be like. No I am not talking about the flashbacks but the openness. The ability to explore and see your environment and enjoy it.
Halo CE is not my favorite of the series, though it is close (just behind ODST). The reason why is because it is so linear. You have only one track to go on. It is just bland canyon walls or ship corridors that you go through over and over again. There are no alternate routes, no real secrets to reviel (except in CE but thats because it started everything).
Not only does ODST make me feel like a human in the game, it makes it feel like it is a real possability for our future.
If you dont like Firefight then its your loss not ours. I enjoy playing offline (thats all I ever do) solo or with a friend. It is challenging for me and for my friend. We push our selves to the limits of our skill when doing it.
And it doesnt have to last 5 hours, it lasts as long as your willing to play. Do a few 30 minute games and see how far you get.
But in anycase I believe that ODST is ment to slow down the pace of Halo players. Make them think about their actions before jumping into combat. To bring them together at home so they can have a good time instead of running from one 20 minute slayer match to another. But that is just me.
open ended is what I'm after. immersion in story and depth to what you're doing.
*suprised to see this thread made it to page 41
