I agree. Epically low innovation. The only new things in ODST are three new maps, you could say that released as a pack they are worth 10 dollars, but that is just microsoft forcing people into a corner, without spending that ten dollars you are forced out of all of the good playlists. It's ridiculous that they forced people into the map packs and now ODST making Halo 3 which you purchased for 60 dollars worthless without dropping 10 dollars every few months (not to mention the xbox live subscription, in which you pay microsoft who, shockingly, provides no real service) and squeezing the money out of you. In reality there is no way in hell that the original mythic pack was worth 10 bucks, orbital was OK, sandtrap was good, and assembly sucked ass.

Firefight is a horde mode, it's been done before. They were cheap and just recycled areas of the campaign; which incidentally, not being designed for horde mode, have all sorts of easy exploits. They were even too lazy to make matchmaking. So now when I want to play firefight I have to go online and troll -blam!- forums for "friends" who I don't know and who half of the time are horrible at halo, when there are enough
online to play with that is.

The campaign's story is just flat out LAME. it's shorter than any other before it, the story is so much less interesting and developed than any halo before it. And there is ONE new enemy, to compensate for that they excluded one of the most interesting enemies from the halo franchise. BACKTRACKING.

There is one "new weapon"... a pistol, and don't say SMG, it's just silenced.
The whole game is run on a OLD ENGINE, without graphical improvements, the faces of the characters are just shockingly ugly, and everything else is just tired from Halo 3.
They bundled remnants from an old game and made some generic maps. They deserve no credit for giving me something I already have, by giving me something that they had to put NO new work into; And as I said before they are trying to use it to force me into buying the game by closing playlists to those who don't.

The reach beta is a DEMO, A.K.A. AN AD, and we don't even know if it will be any good at all, nor how long we will have access to it.

The fact that is was made in a year doesn't defend it, if they made it in a year and it was crap it means that they should have put more time into making it. They made an error in publishing it after a year.

There is no way that you are telling me that 3 maps that are just repackaged old maps from halo 2 with 0 effort put in, a recycled unoriginal, game type that doesn't even use new environments, a short campaign with a boring storyline and a single, new, exceedingly lame enemy, all running on an old engine, all rushed into a years development is worth $30 let alone $60. It doesn't matter that microsoft priced it, it's still crap, if you would like to transfer that anger far be it from me to prevent you. Maybe it could have made a B grade DLC pack.

Bungie is falling downhill FAST. I used to practically warship them. I've been on the forums since before halo 2. And now they are ruining all of that for me. I think Bungie betrayed us all with this crap. And all of the fanboys who bash complaints obviously lack any objectivity, believe me when I say I was a bigger fanboy than any of you.

And that people say that we shouldn't post complaints here are just bizarre. Bungie cheated us out of our money, and if you want to say it was Microsoft's fault this is where we can post complaints.

Edit: Oh, and I forgot, the new maps are just -blam!- unoriginal remakes of something bungie already did and is just repackaging.

Wow, I didn't realize how long that was. I guess I'm angry...lol.
Complainers don't let this post go to waste, I think it's pretty exceptional.

You people really need to start thinking.

Everyone is saying that they spent $60 on a 5 hour campaign, a survival mode and 3 new maps. They don't mention the fact that there is all DLC and the whole multiplayer on the disc.

What people need to think about is the fact that NEW players too Halo can pick up ODST and get a 5 hour campaign, XX(I can't actually be bothered thinking about how many there actually are, 12? Who cares) bonus maps, firefight and spartan multiplayer. Thats what justifies the cost of $60. Just because you already have halo 3 doesn't mean that the cost should be lower. Thats just retarded. Its like buying an icecream, then buying another icecream with sprinkles on top, but then saying you should only have to pay for the sprinkles because you already have an icecream

yep, you're actually right. I put off getting a 360 because I was scared that my internet could never handle the Halo I wanted to play, that came with all the map packs I would have to buy and download.

This changed my view, I bought an Xbox and ODST a week later, saved some hassle with MS points, download times and found that my crappy internet could handle the games just fine.

Matter of opinion though, audiophiles were my favorite part of the game, a good 1 hour or more in just listening to those.

I agree with you entirely. I took the game back the same exact day I got it. But the only reaosn I will be buying Halo: Reach, is because it will be Bungies last title. Otherwise i'm on your side. Halo 3: ODST, Blows hard.

Just bought my pre-ordered copy of ODST tonight. Picked it up at 12:22 am and quickly drove it home to play. Already had friends lined up to do 4 player co-op. $60.00 for 3 new multiplayer maps that will be free in another 2 months, and a 5 hour campaign... That doesn't sound good I thought, but then this is Halo and we have all of the previous titles and loved each one. That list includes Halo Wars... Therefore I thought that this one has to be good. Long story short, the 4 of us all agreed that this is a terrible game which is chock full of shortcuts and unpolished hogwash. I plan to take my copy back to the store when it opens for my money back! Bungie - This is not worth $60.00 - not even close. This is a crappy game and that is coming from a Halo-fanboy. You guys lost a customer tonight. I won't buy another one of your titles. I am extremely disappointed by this game.

u r an idiot it rules. not as good as halo 3 but it is better than halo2 and 1.

definitely not better than halo 2 and 1. halo 1 was a revolutionary fps. halo 2 revolutionized online play and set the bar for online console gaming. odst revolutionized nothing.

  • 11.11.2009 2:37 AM PDT

I do agree with you on some parts first of all i do like firefight but i haave to say it seems like a weaker version of -blam!- zombies(FTW!) and Horde (don't really like it). Now i want to tell some people this it is HIS opinion you don't have to agree with him and he doesn't have to agree with you! But yes this is the weakest halo game but it is an EXPANSion bungie has said this many times so stop flaming about ODST and get on thinking about how to make halo3 better than COD6.

Also campagin that was a blow for halo plot line lols.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. However, the problem here is not Bungie, its Microsoft. They control everything Halo. You should not be bashing bungie for putting out a game add-on. People are screaming for more halo and saying 3 years is too long of a wait. Now they made one as a side project and people are complaining because its not ridiculous like the other games. Maybe thats because they are just doing a game add-on for Halo 3 and its not their main project. They said that it would not be full price because it is not a full game. Microsoft is the one in charge of pricing, not bungie. Bungie and microsoft have not seen eye to eye in regards to a lot of decisions pertaining to halo. This is just another example of it. If anyone actually researched what they were getting with odst they would have realized that it is not the traditional halo experience and everything was turned down a notch for this game. I feel like by pricing this so high and making it seem like one of bungies 'new games' microsoft will lose a lot of people for halo reach, even though that is the game that everyone should be looking forward too.

(FULL OPNION) Ok first of all halo3 multiplayer disk whatever i don't care about that -blam!- the maps were unoriginal terrible clouds that hung over the sky of halo3 I mean seriously Citidel, Heretic lol they were jokes.

Campagin i have recently completed the halo3 odst campagin (offline) This was the thing that made it terrible. The way everything saves is unusal and confusing The achievment guide things where just off like Gears 2 but worse. The level were faint and was all about getting to some place not like arming a bomb or something like in halo3 it was the same old thing.
Very unoriginal and in other words confusing prob the worst campagin ever

Firefight was extremely well done the maps were pretty good could have been better sets and waves were smart but king of like Cod's -blam!- zombies but not as good. Acorsing to others who have played fireight it is very fun so i'll have to see where that comes out.

Theater not too much to say about this .

Lack of firefight matchmaking is a loss for halo3 odst so i am disappointed about that. I have to say overall game could have been better in terms of campagin, saving Ect.

Beat in mind this is an EXPANSION not a full game.

I agree with you dude Halo ODST lacks complex gameplay like halo 3. the guns suck balls, the campaign is boring, and you can pretty much run through the whole campaign without fighting. ODST sucks dick. All the other titles were amazing. Personally Bungie i think wanted to make a profit of a game with little work put forth to designing a fun game. Im considering quitting halo and moving to COD since that game line seems to be on the right track.

The search bar is like a DMR.

Anyone can use it effectively if they try.
Smart people do use it effectively.
Idiots don't, then complain about how it doesn't work.
The only problem is that, the DMR is used in Reach, but the search bar isn't used in the Reach forum.

I gave ODST when it came out a 9.5. Now, ever since MW2 came out I'm giving it a 7 or maybe even a 6.5. The reason being is that the campaign (which had some way cool moments), is no where near epic. and pretty much ALL the firefight maps are exactly the same as the campaign maps. And besides those two things, there really is nothing new about the game. I'm a huge Halo fan and enjoyed ODST for about a month, but now it's just kind of dull. However, I can't wait for the Reach, and am looking forward to playing the beta.

ODST is still a good game, but it could be better.

Will personally I do not care for firefight. For me not being able to play all the time campain took longer than that. The audiofiles which I'am still getting are very fun and I have about 18 and so far it is very fun to go exploring for them. Another good part I liked was the Vidmaster Classic which I played on Uplift Reserve was a fun challenge for me. Although I'm sad with the multiplayer. All we got is 3 new maps and it's just halo 3 with the new maps, no auto-mag or silenced smg, and I've only played on the 3 new maps maybe 8 times half on citadel. I wish it had just been $30 dollars and I think everyone would like it alot more instead of it being $60

ODST does suck. It should have been a $10 expansion pack. And I love Bungie's games; I've been playing them since Marathon.

If you've ever told someone, "Haha, you suck!" think about it like this: you can press buttons more effeciently than they can! Whoop-dee-doo!

those three new maps you're talking about aren't even on the marketplace.
