Halo: CE Anniversary Achievement Idea
C-C-C-CANNON BREAKER!
Let Sgt. Johnson die on Halo.

I think that Halo games are one of the best games that have been created. The Halo universe is so unique and the characters really come to life. If you look at Master chief you will see a hero. In all parts of the game he is the main character and the hero. At the end of Halo 2 you think he dies, but even then he survives. In part 3 he comes back to life to end the fight and to save the world once again. In Halo 3 Orbital Drop Ship Trooper he is not the hero, but that is why the gameplay is different. You do not play as the marine, but instead as a orbital drop ship trooper. In the upcoming game Halo Reach Master chief will not be the hero, but instead there 5 other Spartans who have to save the world.
If you take a look at Halo 1 you will see something very new that we have not experienced before. The characters, vehicles, weapons and planets were all new. No one had heard of them before, except if you read the books which are great too. I do not know how many books there are, but I want to read them all. If think that if you play the games and read the books you know everything about the Halo universe. I hope they continue creating Halo games.
I forgot to mention Halo Wars. This is a game that takes place between Halo 1 and Halo 2. The gameplay is different again, because all the other games were first person shooters and Halo Wars is a strategy game. In my opinion Halo Wars was the worst game in the Halo Franchise. The controls were easy, but the gameplay was pretty dull. Halo is a first person shooting game and it should stay that way!

From the looks of it, you desperately need to read the books. You know next to nothing about Halo dude. :P

Master Chief is a Spartan II.
It's Orbital Drop Shock Trooper.
Halo Wars takes place 20 years BEFORE Halo 1.

Halo Wars was also not created by Bungie. It was created as an RTS by Ensemble Studios and is a fantastic game.

You need to learn your facts straight.

"2010 is the monument of all my sins, Where they were omnipresent, and where I left my old life"

Just take a look at my activity in the said year...

The Only important thing is that "The time Has Come, and the Self Trascendence is at Will".

ODST is Worth the 117.000 $ It costed here. (More or less the 60 Bucks).

A year ago I said:

"I Will pay to see Buck Falling off the "Bridge" In Romeo's Mission, an laughind like a bastard."

"I will pay to see really Bad but Funny Voice acting (I have not the English Version)."

"I will pay to hear Dutch saying "Don't Nobody Cross my Stream"."

"I Will Pay to doing the Unlimited Ammo Glitch Again (Not Avaible on Firefight)."

"I will pay to Have the Tycho's and Webamster's Emblem in Firefight,"

"I will pay to Use more Stronger Turrets I can carry. and move Faster than a Spartan in MK VI with them (Weird)."

"I will pay to use the Better Carbine in the Halo Series (Less Spread, Deeper Sound, and Stronger), the same for the Mauler."

"I will Pay to play as Dare in Firefight and turn the Grunt Birthday party Skull on to scare Noobs with my Recon Helmet and the Super power to create Confetti (The Noobs here are Eight year Olds who don´t know anything about Halo, and think I am a Pro, so they are Scared of my "Super Hardcore Playing")."

"I will Pay to see the Ridiculous Gravity Hammer Animations".

"I will Pay to play another Game over Sistem Link with that Noobs and Scare them (Here's no Xbox Live, you must have a Contract with another country to have a Gold Account)".

"I will pay to listen to the Unreleased music that is on the Game, (Sometimes too Damned low)".

"And most of all I will pay too see part of the Reach Developing (Is In ODST), there's the essay for the Reach's Firefight and Campaign, also the essay of the Multiplayer too, also the Multiplayer Emblems."

I Bought ODST for the Reasons Above.

I Don't know why Reach is Better than ODST (Without Xbox Live): Multiplayer?, Campaign?, Ranking System?, Forge?, Armor?, Spartans?.

Well Everything is a reason.

But without Xbox Live ODST is Fine.

I must say TheEasy1JM I tip my hat to you for having the bravery , or foolishness whichever, to post such a topic here. What with all the "Call a whambulance" [very original btw], "YOU TROLL!", and "Nobody gives two craps what you think". A very admirable move, in a biased forum of course.

Most of your arguments are well thought out and all of them have no contradiction towards each other, and I agree with you that ODST was not worth $60. I can honestly say I would not pay full price for only one feature of any game not even GOW2 Horde which I still have fun in to this day. The claims of buying ODST soley for FireFight, better be a complete exaggeration to get a point across. The maps included are a great plus, but get this, only for newcomers.

Look it's very simple to understand what has happend here, those who are stuck on the bungie train pay as much attention as your brain washed mind permits. Ok so Bungie released the Legendary map pack, besides ruining one of the best maps of CE, it was alright. Here's the tricky part though they made it required to get the full experience of multiplayer. Ok so they cornered a lot of people into buying that DLC, as if that wasn't a dirty enough buisness scheme, they release the Mythic MP. Looks like the CEO of Microsoft will get that island after all, he just needs to make this MP required as well. So now you need to also buy a MP with a map [Sandbox] that looks like it was designed by second graders. And to put the icing on the crap cake they release ODST with the same maps you just spent $20+ on and Halo averaging $30-$60 on, now you have to buy a "completely new game" for 60 more dollars , true halo fans have just spent $140 plus $20 more dollars for future DLC and don't forget the Heroic MP that many inpatient fans spent on. So let's see $170 worst case for those true Halo fanboys and for reasons not known to man, they feel like the price is just? Might as well start wearing tight purple pants and leather jackets and go buy the complete Guitar Hero set. This can be completely overlooked if you're new to Halo though.

Let's just face facts, no matter what intellectual level a person is on, they could never convince the people on this forum that they got one pulled over on them, even on a big time scale like this. Heck I wouldn't be suprised if Bungie killed all their parents, burned there homes down, beat them senseless, and smashed their hopes and dreams only to be awarded for presistant "effort" to bring them down. I do believe these people think it's a real good game, but because of what bungie has done to these people. Bungie's popularity is so big that it makes people believe it's a good game, like mind tricks. When really it's just about or not more than subpar.

Now about the actual gameplay of this game. The drastic change from a run and gun game to a more strategic type was very risky and took some getting used to but for the most part worked out. As for FF nothing new there but as much as it has been used in many games it's always a fun addition, and in ODST this was no exception. I feel that they were trying to get past the oversaturated colors from halo 3 so much so that some parts were close to unplayable withouth the night vision, they could have simply toned the colors down a bit. Also the lack of not being able to dual wield is almost as ridiculous as not having guns with flashlights in doom 3. These ODST can walk faster than the Chief with the detachable weapons but somehow can not endure the strength to pick up two pistols? Also I know this game is its own "entity" due to the standards of full games and expansions, but in heart it's an expansion, so shouldn't expansions add more content in game. I mean two new useless weapons? oh yes and the addition, moreover subtraction, of no dual wielding and being an ODST. To conclude the gameplay, I do respect Bungie on making the game harder to beat than previous titles however.

Overall this is a repackaged Halo 3 with some modifications. For those who haven't tried ODST but have played H3 let's put it like this: Pretend it's halo 3 but, you die easier, it's less colorful, if you run and gun you're dead (even in normal), and you are not a super soldier, the rest remains the same. What can I say about ODST? Well I don't think this game is horrible, at most it's a good game at worst a disappointment. I did not have any expectations for this game I just wanted to play it and see how it was now I know. Now what do I think of ODST price wise? Well for the hardships all the Halo fans have gone through It's complete and utter bull crap and a ripoff. Those new to Halo it's a very good welcome and is worth close to every dime. But truthfully there's not many new people coming into the Halo experience. The funny thing about my post is that I really do feel for the Halo community for spending so much money on a single part of this franchise, only to be frowned upon and flamed. I like Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, heck even parts of ODST are enjoyable (Halo Wars was not to my likings, I'm a PC RTS'er), but I'm not in a state where I can't think for myself and see when I am getting ripped off. If you can't get over Halo and have been turned into a zombie I am sorry for wasting your time and I hope you enjoy ODST until Reach. But if there is still even a hint of sanity inside of anyone in this forum, please heed my words and notice a hoodwink when you see one. I'm not trying to get you guys to have an empiphany and demand a refund or not buy the game, I simply ask of you to notice the pure dog s**t Bungie or Microsoft (whoever the culprit) is making you go through. Excuse my French but it is more than necessary.

I would like to close my opinion with two things. One- for those few of you who think this is the best game ever (even best game of the franchise), I am sorry that you grew up or never experienced any other games, I truly am. There should be a donation program to give you guys money to buy a wider variety of games, that or you're also brainwashed and sorry for wasting your time once again. And two- for those of you less mature, sorry I mean "witty", that will say something along the lines of "who gives a crap about what you think" or "go cry somewhere else you cry baby, whiner, troll, ect.". I'm entitled to my opinion and so are you and any negative opinions are worthless to me, IMO of course

Thank you for reading my novel for those intelligent enough to get even 1/3 through

Aristotle said it is wrong to do injustice, even in return for it. But he never used Xbox live.

Just wanted to offer my two cents and say I bloody loved ODST, played it through start to finish five times now and enjoyed it every time.

My one gripe is finding someone to play Firefight with and the lack of matchmaking. I missed the boat due to not having internet for a couple of months after ODST came out and I don't have any achievements in Firefight and none of my friends are playing it anymore :-(

  • 06.20.2010 9:01 PM PDT

Would you kindly ?

Stop being a whiner about odst. Do you honestly expect a odst to do all the badassery a spartan does no. The engineer ate virgal and saving the engineer was a good objective. i thought it had a good story line

It's just willy waving, he'll be lining up, spoon in hand, like everyone else on release day. There must be more of these pre-pubescent squeaky tough guy voice "You lost a customer today" posts than there are Live members.

The quid is coming.

I think we should keep this thread going for a full year!

You don't kick a man when they're down, so don't teabag me when I'm dead!

No.

This game made me realise more than anything that at the end of the day, Bungie are just a business. It's like when you realise why the salesman in a shop is complimenting you and being so nice. Because he wants you to buy some stuff.

I guess that's all fair, but I wouldn't hold such a negative view against the game if:

1) The firefight at least had some kind of servers so you could be matched with people, and not go out of your way to find recent players and friends who might want to play.
2) I don't think this is the case so much anymore, but almost as soon as the game came out, half of the playlists in matchmaking required paid DLC of some form (some required all of the DLC, making them exclusive to ODST owners). That's one thing I really hate: taking something away from you and making you pay to get it back. If I had known that this would happen, I honestly wouldn't have bought the game. That may seem self-righteous, but why should I pay for something again?

The campaign doesn't have much replay value either, and the AI in firefight on some maps can be pretty dodgy (such as on the indoors Oni base map, when jackals run at you - they don't attmpt to flank you or anything, and usually don't acknowledge another player standing on their flank, until he's killed half of them)
Firefight is still great, and has a lot of replay value
I think the game could just have been more than a money grabber. Because I see it as little more than that.

Some medical pack lol
As soon as you jumped out of the pod, the med pack was on the wall right in front of you...
You have to go to the beacons and "unravel the mystery of what happened to your team"
I like the story, but I'm not a fan of the run-to-each-area-to-unlock-the-next-level thing. It's like Burnout Paradise in a way, except you load the Streets like it's a campaign mission, then you wander round, find clues, and kill the odd bad guys.

The game is worth a play. Sure the campaign could have been longer and Bungie should have included matchmaking with it (which I'm very surprised they didn't), but it's still a good Halo game. I was pretty satisfied with it since you get to go back to part of Halo 2 and see what happened after you left for Delta Halo.

Also I've been dying for Bungie to do something like Firefight since Halo 2 and wished they would have done it for Halo 3, but I'm glad they finally did it. Granted they weren't the first ones to do it, but oh well people copy people, that's life.

While I don't think the game was worth the full $60, I enjoyed it nonetheless.

  • 06.22.2010 8:39 AM PDT

NO SOUP FOR YOU

Why don't you go cry to someone who cares?! Just because it's your opinion doesn't mean it's THE opinion. You're gonna miss out on a lot of Reach fun!

  • 06.22.2010 11:31 AM PDT

Overal I really enjoyed Halo 3 ODST. It is definitly a different game but could have been done a lot better.

I think that's why it is so "hated" because it's so different to Halo 3, and it suppost to be.
