I personally find ODST an amazing game. Despite the graphics not being as advanced as Reach's, I preferred them. The storyline was interesting, but I must admit that I was horribly reluctant to play it at first: it was my second Xbox game and I was creeped out by the night-time ambience.
When I started playing it late last year, I was amazed at how naïve I had been. ODST is sheer awesomeness. Despite how good Reach's firefight is, it still doesn't quite reach the awe I was struck by when I completed 3 Sets with my friends. I spent a few weeks trying to find and compose a gametype in Reach akin to ODST's firefight; none of them quite passed muster. The adventure of the nighttime missions is something not present in other games.
Another thing is the music. The oh-so-very Marty-you've-done-it-again-but-even-better-this-time music. I envisage every wonderful and tumultuous moment of campaign with each note played.
In summation, ODST's music, local multiplayer, campaign, and inclusion of all Halo 3 MP maps have given it a special place in my game drawer. Thank you Bungie!
(And anyway, the Slipspace explosion started in the sky. They needed to fix that dome anyway! What better way to profit than to build an entire game around a graphical edit? :D)
