this thread sucks because of the "lolo" at the end. (in french, lolo means boobie >.> )
anyway, the OLD CE pistol won't come back. it was an OP pistol, and if it were to come back, bungie would have put it in either H2 or H3... don't you think?
it's been replaced by the BR. get over it, or go and play HCE.
I'm sorry, but anyone who thinks the Halo 1 pistol was OP either;
1) Never really lanned an actual game of Halo 1. Every single weapon had a role in Halo 1, and played ir great. The Sniper beat the Pistol at long range. The AR, Shotgun and Rockets beat the pistol at close range, Rockets still beat Pistol at medium range. Every weapon was extremely powerful, and the Pistol fit perfectly in Halo 1's sandbox
2) You didn't like it because people out-pistoled you often
The BR is not at all like the pistol and heres why:
1) The BR was a 4sk, the pistol was a 3sk. How could one shot make that big of an impact?
The Pistol sped up gameplay since it was so strong, and took out players in 5 shots to the body. The BR takes a very long time to kill players when shooting at the body. I understand, when they're no shields, you could just shoot at their head. Not when your opponent is strongsiding (looking down and running away with his back turned to you making it impossible to get that headshot). How many times have you been in a situation where your unloading your BR into a flag runner when he's no shields, but he gets the cap anyway since he was strong siding?
2) Burst-fire v.s. single shot- another seemingly small difference, but still makes a large impact on gameplay by reducing the skill gap it took to use the BR when compared to the Pistol;
Say two people in Halo 1 have no shields, and it will only take one headshot the get the kill. The player with higher Pistol skill would get that kill because he can properly lead his crosshairs and time a shot effectivley.
In Halo 2, if two people have no shields, all one of them has to do is sweep shoot. The auto-aim and magnetism/hitboxes made it so you didn't have to lead your shot, or even aim directly at the other guy's head. Thus making the BR much more noob friendly than the pistol.
3) Hitscan and non-hitscan-I don't really need to go into depth with this one because I partially mentioned it above, and because it's just common sense.
You need to lead your shots with the Pistol. With the BR, you just point, shoot and all three of your bullets land. Further making the BR more noob-friendly.
As you may have noticed, I am comparing the Halo 1 Pistol to the Halo 2 BR here only. This is mostly because I would hope that nobody would dare make the comparision between the H3 BR and the M6D. If you are though, heres a quick list of reasons why the H3 BR differes from the H1 Pistol:
-H3 BR is inconsistent, the H1 Pistol is consistent
-Sometimes bullets don't register with the H3 BR, bullet registration is not a problem with the H1 Pistol
-Damage (see TSK vs 4SK above)
-Burst fire vs single shot (see above)
-The H3 BR's effective range is garbage when compared the the Halo 1 pistol
All these factors really make me feel like the H3 BR is a useless weapon when you compare it to the H1 Pistol. And not to mention all the inconsistencies and weak damage/range lead to slower paced games than Halo 1. With everyone starting with a very effective weapon in H1, the game became more fast paced and intense. With an ineffective weapon like the H2/H3 BR, the game becomes much more slow paced and boring.
To return to the OT, I would love it if the pistol was brought back and every aspect of it from the original was kept the same. However, to effectivley balance it out, every weapon that appeared in Halo 1 should make a re-appearence in Halo Reach.
Because of people like this though, the Halo 1 pistol and other weapons from Halo 1 that should return to Halo Reach's multiplayer should stay in Forge and custom game options only. That way this guy can play an AR Dino Team Slayer game, and we can have these options to play customs whenever we want. Everybody gets what they want, and every type of gamer is satisfied.
