Not a sure fire solution. When I had the problems my 360 could not copy the games to my HDD correctly. The game was much worse after installing them to my HDD, going from being able to play a little from the disc, to failing to load up the game at all past the start menu from the HDD.

This is such crap. I have one of the first Xbox 360s (2005) and I just got Halo ODST for christmas and I can't play it. The campaign Disk won't even load. It comes up as a dvd so I can't even try to copy it to my harddrive.

All my other disks work fine. I also got Call of duty Modern Warfare 2 and I have no problems playing it. Why can't these people have a major release without screwing up. I wish I knew about this problem before I got the game.

My ODST Mythic disc is unreadable. Its really frustrating, I did not had any dlc and was looking forward for a complete MP experience. Other games are playing fine. Some of the games I play are MW2, LFD2, TF2 and Halo 3.

It's getting close to a month since I contacted urk (twice) about customer service charging me for an out of warranty repair for this problem. 'fraid I still haven't heard from him. I was trying to be patient because I figured he might be busy during the holidays.

Is there anyone else to contact about this?

As far as I know, Urk is the only contact for this issue. If you sent him the Service Request number and a brief msg detailing the contact with xbox support, the next person you hear from is someone at MS. At least that was my experience.

So I contacted advocate@microsoft.com....Got a representative to call me and she basically told me it was the CD after I told her that I tried other CD's and it worked in my friends house....I told her it only happened with that CD and the bungie said that the only way to fix this was to take get the 360 repaired but her only advice was to just keep swapping the disk for a new one until it worked.

Nevermind I just got a call and they are sending me a box to repair my 360.....I send the link of this thread to the person at Advocate@Microsoft.com after they said no and I guess they read the thread and called me to tell me if my contact info was correct so they could send me a box.

i had this happen to me yesterday on halo 3 just as i finished vidmaster challenge annual. i then went and had to do annual again. today i did deja vu with my friends and just as we finished it when it went onto the cutscene it said disc unreadable again. i found deja vu really hard and dont want to have to do it again. it is the only vidmaster i need until recon. i am really starting to get annoyed with this.

The other team is not the enemy, lag is the enemy!

I select a mission, load it, the cutscene plays, then the cutscene just keeps replaying.

Is there any fix?

Yeah I have had this disk unreadable problem for awhile now, but I figured this out. I don't think it's my disk. I went to my girlfriends house and tried it on her brothers and all my maps and levels loaded up fine. My Xbox is old(No HDMI,12GB Hardrive) But now I got a new one and it works fine. I think Bungie made Halo 3 ODST to run on newer consoles.

Hi folks

Just dropping in to see if there was any news about a fix for the game. Just like the rest of you, I am having the same issue where my xbox just cant play ODST. When I go to play ODST the following happens; Disc cant be read, play one chapter and disc cant be read, game crashes at main menu, game crashes during loading screen.

So far I have only been able to barely get through campaign in co-op and kinda play fire fight mode (so many framerate issues). If the BETA for HALO:REACH needs ODST, how is this going to work if I cant play the game?. Does anyone have any answers as to how my $60 coaster will affect my participation in the HALO:REACH BETA?.

rent the game from somewhere and see whether it works or not. You have my condolences.

If you have any problems whatsoever that you are complaining about, please, stop complaining and get the f**k over it. :)

ive had similar. does it say you failed to load content at campaign or the original maps in halo 3

Self-proclaimed genius.
Roam the streets with a sign, "will love for false hope."

Very small percentage... I think Joystick's 31% poll ratio is far more accurate than Microsoft's released information. That's why I'm posting my complaint.

Mine worked just fine when I got it but now I keep getting a "Disc Read Error" for my Mythic Disc. There is absolutely no abrasions on the disc. It is clean. It's pissing me off. Especially since my Halo 3 disc did the same thing shortly after I purchased it. I had to install that one just to read the campaign maps. Didn't help the fact that the disc could not be read most of the time, though. Will install Mythic Disc despite the fact that Bungie told us not to because that seems to be the only solution besides letting Microsoft screw us.

I have an Xbox 360 Elite which is only about a year old, thank you. Zero issues with any other discs. Only Halo 3. Only Halo 3 Mythic. No issues with Halo 3: ODST Campaign disc. I know that Microsoft doesn't care how many people they screw over but I hope Bungie does find a solution to help us before the discs become 100% not readable all of the time.

Figured I'd post my experience with this issue since it might shed some light on the problem

my original xbox360 didn't have issues running halo 3, but it red ringed itself out of warranty
I wanted to make sure I didn't end up with another 360 that would red ring itself into oblivion

so I made sure I got a hold of the newer SKU aka the "jasper" arcade unit which supposedly didn't
have the over heating problem, but once I got it, and eventually ODST I got the disk read errors

after procrastinating calling the number provided due to being sick of defective xboxs in general

I finally called them, the tech there ran me through the basic trouble shooting issues provided
here "clear cache" "search for corrupt save games" "remove harddrive" etc, didn't work, he finally
said they would send a UPS label I asked what the problem might be and he said something along the lines of this

when ODST came out they were flooded with calls about the DRE, and quickly sent out a patch over xboxlive and he made the statement that for some reason certain xboxs weren't accepting the update.

and that's it... if you have the issue, it sounds like you should call microsoft as it seems to be a hardware bug

last note, one other game can suffer from the DRE, Infinite Undiscovery, I found this out the hard way, and it was the reason I finally called.

in closing, they sent me a replacement Jasper "as far as I can tell" and everything works
perfectly.
