Sounds like a bunch of Justin Bieber wannabes in here. I bet you all wear skinny jeans too.

The first time I put ODST in my Xbox, I installed it to the hard drive without playing. I got this issue as well, however once I deleted it and played it off the disk it seemed to be cured and I've never received it again.

So far it seems like the problem is restricted to xboxes manufactured in 2006 and Resident Evil 5 edition (weird). Are there any people here who are having this problem (the "disk unreadable" issue) who do not fall into those categories?

Just curious.

If you get the Disk Unreadable thing Only for the first level then just do the first level and do whatever difficulty you want. After the last cutscene comes and it says "Disk Unreadable" just go back into ODST. If you have a friend with the 2nd Level tell him to Set a checkpoint for it. Do the 2nd level from that checkpoint and then Check your Levels. You should have the first level Completed and then you should have unlocked the second. Repeat the 2nd level again and you should get the third. Continue playing through the Campaign like you would normally do. (Worked for me)

Perhaps you may have gotten an old model? Does it have HDMI? If so, than you have a newer console. Not sure of the explanation for your problem.

this also happened to me. i started to see "dirty disc errors" about the time the legendary map pack came out and i have random lock ups on other games, including halo 3 campaign. i'm on my 7th xbox already but since its not RROD they will not replace this one for free. what a load of bs. now im stuck with a game I cant play at all and an xbox that may not be able to play any of the newer games. this sucks.

This really worked?

Sounds dubious. I have a game saved partway through the first flashback level that I can't get back to because of the unreadable error.

And I'm not sure I'd enjoy playing through the game like that. Seems like way too much trouble for something that should just work in the first place. :)

Yeah, it does sound like alot of trouble just to get the game working like it should. I think I'll just get the refund and wait until Bungie or Microsoft applies an update for the game.

Meanwhile, I have Brutal Legend to look forward to.

Well, I don't what happened, but after deleting and reinstalling ODST, my screen went black and 4 red lights are blinking around the Power button. Anyone else get this? I hope it wasn't the disc that caused this.

I've deleted and reinstalled multiple times, no RRoD. It might have just been bad timing.

Though, really, nothing would surprise me at this point. The lack of an official announcement on this issue is making me nervous.

Um... I like Halo? I don't really know what to say. I'm a student at the moment, I hope to become a criminal profiler, and I enjoy pretty much everything as long as it's good.

After that little update today the game works like a charm.

Well, the 4 red lights mysteriously vanished, and now my Xbox 360 is back on, but the dis is still unreadable... yay. :(

Having all sorts of issues, including this one.

First, checkpoints were not working... when I would die, I would go back to very beginning of level 1. If I go back to main menu, it acts like there is no campaign save at all.

After the cutscene in level 1 where he pulls the helmet out of the screen, I get the disc unreadable error. This is where it always happens for me.

Tried deleting save and starting over. Didn't work.
Tried clearing cache. Didn't work.
Tried installing to hard drive. It installed 100%, however, there is no sound when I play from HD and it still gives the "disc unreadable" error after that same cutscene.
If I try Firefight, the map loads but it says Disk Unreadable when I press start.

No visible defects on disc, yet I returned it and got a new one: but there is no difference at all -- same exact issues. Game simply does not work on my Xbox. (My Xbox is NOT an old one.)

While this does sound great, I am feeling a bit skeptical.

That is some great, great news. Maybe i'll keep mine after all and wait... though that could be a risk and I'd lose my money. Here's hoping it's in the next two days.

Just adding in another case. Gone through 2 sets thus far, both discs on both sets had the same problem.

On ODST, Firefight works fine, at least on the maps I played thus far. I get disc read errors either at the very end of missions right before cutscenes, or during the actual mission, the former more foten than the latter.

The multiplayer disc refuses to load Longshore. Either the game tries to start the map and locks up(everything is frozen and I can't do anything without ejecting the disc first), or I'm able to play for a few seconds then the game locks up. All other maps I've tried have worked fine. The problem only arises hen I try to play Longshore.

I tried loading the games onto the HDD. Both installs were corrupted and unplayable. I could get to the main menu on both but neither could load any levels.

I still have 5 days left of my full 100% refund.

So I guess MS has 4.5 days to release a patch before I return it. :/

I haven't played mine yet because my xbox is out of town but this is making me really worried.

Man what a pain in the a$$ this is so unfair man. I wait a month for this game to come and when it finally does I can't even play it. I paid good money for it and I can't play s***.

For me, I get the problem with the cutscene at the beginning. How you can't skip through it by pressing A. Also, I randomly play the game sometimes and it randomly shows up as disc unreadable. However, I think everyone should try this. Try playing ODST on another profile. I tried that and it actually worked. I didn't fully test it though so I'm not completely sure. I have a 2005 Xbox 360. I had a problem in the past about my 360 reading discs so I opened it up and replaced the disc drive with a fresh one and it worked fine. I wonder....Could the 360 be overheated? Is that why its not working? I doubt it. What are your thoughts people?
