Yeah, personally I think its the disc. I'm tempted to get a new copy and try that one. I wont call xbox customer service, cause they'll have me sending my box to texas. All of my other games work fine. Hopefully this issue will be resolved cause this game is gooooood!

I can't play co-op either I get host everytime and I drop my whole team cause I get the damned error...

  • 09.22.2009 7:17 PM PDT

This problem happens primarily right after "The Drop" cut scene. Pardon me if that's wrong, as I couldn't really play it. >.<

The system actually says it is unreadable during the green loading screen and after taking about 2 minutes trying to load. Then it gives the error message about the disc being unreadable.

I took it back to my game retailer, and they said to either install it to my harddrive(which is what I'm doing right now) or to return it for a refund.

And I really want a working Halo ODST rather than my $65.80 back.

The Hard Drive thing doesn't work either... I haven't heard of it working with the people in this thread so far...

Bring it or send it back to the company you bought it from and ask for a refund or new copy. Or send your 360 to microsoft for a fix if the first part doesn't work.

  • 09.22.2009 7:22 PM PDT

sounds like you have the open tray error, if not then it has to do with the tray. :|=|

I'm having the same problem it has to be a data corruption cause everything that happend to you and everything you attempted to alleviate the problem is exactly what I did and still no dice...

I cannot finish the last three missions in campaign, Co-op or otherwise....

I don't know what to do...

We just got 'Microsoft'd'. :(
Fix'd.

Its not the disk. My disk runs fine in 2 other 360s but all my other games will play fine. This just doesnt add up.

Only real men drive mustangs

Luckily, only problem i had was the first loading screen for campaign took 5 minutes. But, i have herd of alot of people getting corrupted disks.

  • 09.22.2009 7:24 PM PDT

Anybody just recently need an update for their 360?
This happened right after I downloaded the game to my hard drive.

  • 09.22.2009 7:24 PM PDT

Um... I like Halo? I don't really know what to say. I'm a student at the moment, I hope to become a criminal profiler, and I enjoy pretty much everything as long as it's good.

I had the same problem. Cleaned it with a lens cleaning cloth and so far it's running pretty smoothly. *Crosses Fingers*

  • 09.22.2009 7:27 PM PDT

Get this. It happened to me once, but here is the weird part. I DL TO MY HARDDRIVE!!! How in the world is the disc unreadable when I load the game from my harddrive???

  • 09.22.2009 7:29 PM PDT

I would like to know, Do you all happen to have 1st generation 360's? I'm still using mine sent from microsoft to replace my RROD'd 360

I was thinking the same thing...

It sounds like it is cause the data on the disc doesn't mesh well with our 360's... A patch maybe? a serious error? yes...

Only real men drive mustangs

I have the halo 3 edition xbox, and had no problems. Just a very long loading time for the first mission.

I'm having the same issue and I tried halo 3 and the same thing happened at the same moment in both 3 and odst. Campaign will load on both but when it goes black before the actual game pops up I get a disc read error. Every other game I own works fine.

So I took my hard drive out and it worked fine (unfortunately I couldn't save my progress, but at least I got to enjoy it since I went to a midnight launch).

That said my guess is that there is a corrupted save file on my HDD or something and that this obviously is and has been an issue with both games. Has anyone exchanged discs and solved the problem?

I tried clearing the cache and that did nothing to help. I'm going to try and delete all my halo 3 save data and see what happens.

Wow, this really sucks. I hope it does not happen to me. I also hope that you guys get this problem figured out before I try playing ODST, just in case it happens to me.
Good luck.

Someone else who's having this issue should try removing the HDD and playing so we can narrow down what's causing the problem.

This worked for me, although as a "fix" it's not very helpful.

There is no LIVE without a Harddrive so this is worthless to me...
