Hitachi are the best harddrives.

Got to my thread to discuss it.

I have a feeling it's Hitachi drives. If they last a year consider yourself lucky.

Yarrrr~

The multiplayer disc seems to be playing just fine for my brother. We had a little game earlier but had to cancel due to dinner. But he's been playing it a lot.

I'm going to try and play Halo 3 tomorrow to see if it cause any problem, which i seriously doubt it will.

Hey i just want to ask everyone whos reading this one thing
how actually are bungie going to fix this will a patch do it. or are they going to have to make a new batch of odst's ?????

kind of unknown at this point. hopefully they can issue a patch, but for now the exact cause of this problem hasn't been made clear.

I have in November 2006 bought X360 premium 20 GB HDD Gears Of War Bundle. It has the BenQ dvd drive if this helps.

Since the launch of xbox 360 in 2005, there have been 4 revisions to the console's motherboard.

Xenon - no hdmi
Zephyr - first hdmi models
Falcon - 2nd hdmi models
Jasper - latest hdmi models

With later revisions they have cooler running GPU or CPUs to help prevent RROD. The console suffers mostly because MS is cheap. They use solder free solder, but I think thats a FCC required thing, they use X-clamps to hold down the heatsinks and the motherboard cradle itself causes the motherboard to flex and bend in ways it shouldnt. RROD is caused by a poor design that MS rushed to get out and yet to improve.

You forgot about OPUS boards which are non HDMI boards that microsoft tech support replaces xenon boards with after failure.

Was this a serious statement? The older Hitachi drives are the worst ones used. The Hitachi 79's are decent.

And I'm talking disk drives not hard drives.

I know how frustrating it is, mines happens after a game, at a save point after a game of firefight and the scores come up. At least Bungie are trying Microsoft is apparently hanging up on people who phone in.

I love how bungie hasn't even posted anything about the issue or anything fantastic you guys are awesome...

before you go all An Hero, it's a bug. an incredibly annoying one. but it's still a bug. thus far it seems like they're trying too suss out if it's a hardware issue or something with the game. As if you look at the play stats, it's clear there's only a small group of users encountering this issue.

so calm down, and stop acting like a mouth breather.

I mentioned eariler that my halo 3 campaign doesnt work but it does seem to be fine if you miss the first mission out. otherwise it just comes up with the disc error message.

yes i have that same problem, i have a non hdmi xbox, multiplayer disk works fine but anything on the campaign disk gives a "disk read error" on loading screen. i have called MS and they said they would email me within 48 hours with a fix so we will see

  • 09.24.2009 1:05 PM PDT

here's what happened for me:

1) took the disc out of the box and inserted it in the console
2) did an install to hard drive
3) started the game from the hard drive
4) got a disc error (I guess it occurred during disc check)

I restarted the console, tried again and it was ok.
I haven't got a chance to play the game since then.

It's the first time I got a disc error on that console (2 years old)

Oakland Athletics will win the World Series.

my xbox is pretty old and is a little banged up but it still performs fairly well and I only have occasional problems. This game for some reason does not work on my xbox. I initially started it up fine and watched the intro cut scene but then the scene began to repeat again with no audio. I restarted my xbox and now every time i try to play the game it gives me a disk unreadable. this is a disgrace especially since i was so looking forward to playing it. i suppose i i will have to go and return this one and get another one

  • 09.24.2009 1:10 PM PDT

It should be said, this post has made this problem into the main stream of things Joystiq and various other sites
