I really dont think the problem is in the xbox. Too many people with new xboxs and old ones are having problems. And it seems to be at the same few points people are having problems

My disc gained a full ring all the way around my disc about 6 seconds after it was in my Xbox. I can't play anything but Lost Platoon-Firefight and was never able to play any of the other levels >.>

  • 09.24.2009 2:36 PM PDT

Yea same thing happened with me but in another part

its also not a harddrive problem because it does the same thing without the hardrive plugged in

  • 09.24.2009 2:36 PM PDT

I am also having this problem. At first it would let me play the first level up to the helmet in the TV. It would then display the unreadable disc error during load. Some firefight maps would work, others would not. Now, just about nothing loads except for the Main interface. I have tried many remedies for instance...
1. Removing hdd
2. Clearing cache on hdd
3. Using different Profile
4. Using another copy of ODST game.
5. I have disassembled the Xbox360 and reassembled.
6. Disassembled the dvd-drive(a benq), cleaned the laser and reassembled.
7. Tried disc on another console (disc works...)
*Manufacture date is 2006-12-18 on non function Xbox360.
*All other games work just fine.
Bungie I hope you can figure this out because I was, and still am stoked about this game! Good Luck and God Speed to All!

we take out the leader and it will start a domino effect that will cause them to fall like a deck of cards....haha checkmate

when i played with my friends in co-op my game kept freezing and/or saying it was unreadable, when we were on the mission the hive. what i and seemed to fix it, was to place the disc on boiling water for about 30 secs, and that seemed to fix. before anyone calls me crazy, it does work i been using the technique for years and most of the time on OXM discs.

Boiling it? Are you serious?

Usually I'd dismiss this as a prank, but a couple weeks ago I saw someone fix an RRoD with a fridge and a trash bag.

Can anyone else confirm the boiling thing?

I would but I really don't trust it

I don't want to waste £40 trying to cook a cd

hot water maybe but boiling water most likely will just melt the disc out of shape

Have fun!!!

We could probably use more data involving Halo 3. I don't have a copy of it anymore, but I'm sure some of you do. Play through the campaign all the way to the end (on easy). If you get the error, go to the next level in the main menu and continue on through.

If all other games but Halo 3 and ODST are working, then this is pretty much on Bungie's hands.

  • 09.24.2009 3:09 PM PDT

I played a few levels of halo 3 it didn't come up with the message but it did freeze half way through a mission

but multiplayer works fine

  • 09.24.2009 3:16 PM PDT

I am tempted to do the boiling thing but I don't really want to break my disc

well my halo 3 just got the read error, which it hasnt done before. But it is terribly scratched up but it has always worked in the past. So i dont really know how creditable that is

It actually appears randomly for me as I previously stated.

The older 360's (ala debut) used older inferior hard-ware to the newer 360's hence the increase in RRoDing, why there's freezes with certain games, Developers can't push the 360's to the limit if they have to make sure the older xbox's can run it without issue (that's how we end up with another console gen, thats un-needed as of yet).[/quote

That probably is true because most of the newer games that came out work fine for me such as GTA or NFS Shift but randomly freeze.

Argh. I was just about to pick up ODST.. but I have an older Xbox. Great.. this game is just more and more seeming to should have stayed as a DLC.
