Something to look at if you want, just tried out the Forza 3 demo without a problem, also got the new starwars clonewars demo and that does the same as my Halo 3 and ODST (can play about 5 seconds of the game before completely crashing the system), can anyone else confirm this issue or is it just me.

Ha, just got a call from the Xbox tech dept. as I was typing this.

Can I try my disc in someone elses console that works (done this
Can I try someone elses disc in my console (done this too)
Can I try new power and video cables on my box, going to see if I can do this tonight and will let you know the results.
Can anyone else do this and see if there is any progress? Just thinking that although my box is new, the power brick and vid cable is from 2005, suppose they could have a fault, but i can't understand why only affected for Halo3 and ODST, (and a demo)
Just so you know I have a refurbed 360 in feb 09.

I got email from MS Finland's support. They noticed the problem and they're trying to figure out something. But they didn't know anything now. So we'll have to wait little bit longer. Hopefully not too long because i don't have very long warranty on my ODST. I'll think it ends on next wednesday. Let's hope best and fear worst.

I'd imagine if we all pushed everyone would eventually get what is owed to them.

Well, i decided on tuesday that i won't play X360 until ODST is fixed. So i don't know when next time i'm getting to play something. But no pain, no gain in some way.

I've had no actual DRE message. What I have had is numerous lockups/freezes, mainly in Firefight. In our oh...four hour session the other night, I locked up six or seven times, and all at different points. Sometimes it was on the initial game screen, sometimes in-game, sometimes in the Firefight "pick mission" screen.
On some of the lockups I'd also get blocky red graphics glitches, other times just an ordinary frozen screen.
I'm afraid to even try the campaign at this point.
I also had issues with the multi-player disk which also froze up several times, mainly in the screens where you choose the game or map. On the 4th try or so I let the default map finish loading and it seemed to be fine after that.
My situation as it stands now certainly sucks but at least I can play, unlike many others.
My XBOX is definitely one of the earlier generations, but it's never had the RROD nor have I had any significant issues with any other games...so who knows at this point if it's more a hardware issue, a disk issue or what...but I'm sure as heck not going out and buying a new XBOX just to play ODST smoothly.

Update: tried the campaign and it locked 4-5 times before I even got past getting out of the pod. Locked at different points each time. Decided to try a different game just for the heck of it, so I popped in COD4. Played about five minutes and it locked---I'd never had a problem with COD before so that made me say "hmmm...". Rebooted the box and BLAMMO! RROD.
Long story short: no idea now if any of the problems were actually with ODST, if ODST somehow caused my box to RROD, or if my box was already in the process of dying and it just coincided with my playing ODST.
Turns out my box is two months out of warranty as well, so MS wants $100 to fix it. Sweet.

I am in the same situation as well. My game will freeze in firefight or in single player, and every time that happens my screen has white lines running down on it.

Did you try to play without your harddrive?

I had a freezing problem when Halo 3 was released and I only had a freezing problem with Halo 3. Here's a link to my Halo 3 problem.

I am on the phone with Xbox support right now, and one thing they asked me to do that I have not tied is using a different resolution. I use 720P and went to 480P. This did not work for me, but perhaps it will work for some of you...

  • 09.25.2009 10:51 AM PDT

Just tried taking out the hard drive and adjusting the screen resolution, but my game still freezes with white lines and makes a constant static sound when that occurs. It really is a shame, and I hope they find a fix to the issue.

I went out and bought a memory unit and i tested if it works by playing through the firefight mission that i could not play before with the hdd (I know microsoft screwed me over and they got more money), but the result is now that i can play the game. I hope this crap issue is fixed. Knowing microsoft and bungie, they will not fix it for a pretty long time.good luck. I want to add that i just tried the campaign part that did not work before, and it now works as long as the HDD is out (Im using a MU). I think this is the only way to play it for us who got screwed over, idk if there are more complex problems others are having, but this works.

My brother could play our copy of ODST just fine with his friends brand new Xbox Elite... ugh. How annoying is that?

Then you are stupid because there is actually nothing good about this thread, it doesn't tell what to do(Im meaning it to be to the one who created this thread, not because a Bungie worker has posted here means that ''It has to be sticked to the ass of Bungie Forums''.
