Mine does this and if I let it finish the cutscene I get the Cannot Read Disk error.

I just tried to install my game and it didn't work. I even tried it three times. Didn't work. :(

Do you have any idea what E74 is? It's a GPU failure. The Xbox wouldn't work at all if it had E74.

Perhaps you have to much information, game demos, games and accounts saved into your HD, which may cause too much info in the HD, maybe trying deleting things from it, including Halo 3 things like screenshots, games, vids etc.

Update:

So after not being able to make it past the first loading screen after the intro it finally worked. Until the next loading screen. Then I recieve the same error.

On a side note for those following this once it boots you back to the XMB the game says "play game" Not disc not recognised which it has when I've had a truly unreadable disc.

My game is the kind of the same way, after the first cutscene, I make it to the loading screen where it starts loading for anywhere between 5 sec - 2min and then gives me the disc unreadable error.

WTF:

So I decided to try and delete all my halo 3 stuff.... vids... mappacks etc and I noticed that there is NO Halo: ODST under my Memory>Games on the XMB

But my gamercard does say that I got 3 achievements when it booted up the 1 time before crashing again.

It has to be something to do with the harddrive.

dont hate the player, hate the game

since you have all the maps maybe try deleting the ones you have bought and that are saved on to your hard drive. see if that helps in any way..it might be confused or something..

I have erased everything to do with Halo 3 from my HDD and it doesnt fix the problem. I guess this is a good excuse to upgrade to an elite.

Has anyone tried messaging bungie? This will make it quicker to get a solution.

Still going unreadable for me. Different spot this time tho. Unreadable playing from disc and playing from my hard drive. Wow it loaded this time after 5 tries!!! Wtf is goin on??? I wonder if bungie will even address this, or just ignore us till we get sick of complaining... *edit-loaded and then went unreadable at the next cut scene.

Its not just old Xbox 360s. Im on my Resident Evil 5 Xbox 360 and its getting the same errors. I have beat past the Mickey mission with the "Disc Unreadable" problem. It was a pain, but I just can't take it anymore. I have two different discs from two different stores. Same problem on both. One is a collectors edition, one is just a regular copy. I have never had this problem ever until ODST. Its very strange.

I want an answer from Bungie soon or ill just send in my Xbox 360. I just want to play and finish this game as soon as possible. Its way too fantastic to just sit there un-played.

I pay $60 of my hard earned money to enjoy a nice video game, and this happens.

All I want is some relaxation from work, and I get "Disc Unreadable". I'm so sad now.

Just have to wait to get a response from blizzard or an update.

Hmm I said blizard.... I meant bungie lol. Bad habit... Working as intended!

This has absolutely nothing to do with the disc. At all. I installed to hard drive, took the cover off of my 360 and watched to see what the laser was doing. It's off obviously, but I wanted to confirm. After verifying the disc the disc drive shuts down. laser isn't even on.

Could they're be a communication problem with the HDD? that might help to explain why I've recieved achievements ( reflected in my gamertag as well as points in a firefight that are uploaded here ) but the game still doesn't show up under Memory>Hard Drive>Games. It's like xboxlive and bungie.net know I've played a bit of the game but my hard drive doesn't.

I was having this problem with halo 3 also so I'm going to try that and see what happens. Be back soon.

Thats why i said most games get updates when you first get them and that might have been the problem because ODST has no update when you put the disc in...

and for those having a problem with the disc go to my forum and vote yes...im trying to see how many users are having this problem..

I BEAT HALO 3: ODST, AND GOT RECON ARMOR!

I had the same problem, i had little small dots all on my disk, so i went to gamestop where i purchased the game and asked if they could buff it because of that, and they just said "we'll give you another disk" so i got the new disk, went home, and beat ODST with no problems and got the classic vidmaster. so if you purchased it from gamestop, stop by and see if they will give you a new one like they did me! :D

Buckle Up: It's makes it harder for the Covenant to suck you up.

After reading this whole thread, I think it's most likely due to the fact you guys have a older Xbox 360. Usually, older consoles will have trouble running newer games, like ODST.

But that's just my opinion. I still have yet to get the game.
