Well the disc error comes from the beginning instantly when you take Dare's helmet from the wall and comes the loading screen, then crash. But i just called to Gamestop and they'll inspect the dvd and i'll get a new one and i will check those dvd's just for sure that there's no air bubbles or anything on the dvd's because i think that's the cause in the first place. Just check your dvd for funny imprints. If you don't have anything, everything should be fine.

Possible spoiler, and yes, that same exact time and thing happened to me.

However, your multiplayer disc is suppose to have the "air bubble", it comes standard now. Why is it there? I have no idea. But I asked by game retailer, and he said that regardless of the "air bubble", the game will work fine. However though, that "air bubble" was only on my multiplayer disc, which works perfectly fine.

The campaign disc is what needs some severe patching.

Well i don't have any markings of any kind on my MP disc and it works just fine. But there's a big bubble like thing on my Campaign disc. Any of my friends don't have and they've been playing with old model X360 over 12 hours of the game. So it could be disc issue or if isn't then i'll get refund on my money and ODST passes on me. Thank god Brutal Legend is on it's way.

Whenever you say problems with "Older" 360s, how old are we talking?

Hope it works man I am friends of TK superman who posted a little earlier on I have went through 3 disc's from my game stop and NONE worked on my 360 but when they put it into one of their's it suddenly worked. My 360 was bought brand new in 2006, but from a former post I know now that maybe the older systems is not to blame when he said he had the Resident evil 5 X-box.

Now I'm getting quite tired of hearing people saying to install it onto the Hard Drive because this does nothing but worsen the running. Because if I run it from the Disc alone then I may get some good time in Firefight and thats the only mode I can play because the main game keeps freezing and says Disc Unreadable. Now if I install it to the Hard Drive it wont even let me into the main load screen from what it looks like everyone is having remotely the same problems with the disc.

Now when I took my 360 into gamestop for them to look at, they didn't notice anything wrong with it at all they play tested various new games on it Batman, Beatles, etc... but only when it came to ODST did it start to have problems.

Bungie NEEDS to adress this issue and fast because too many people are having problems that should have never even arisen. I have taken a look at some of the forums across the net hoping that I can find some Answer's and I end up hitting the same road block. On some of those Forums there have been some Polls and on Said polls well over 50% are having problems with their game. AS of right now all I have is a $60 paperweight and there is a 7 day grace period for any returns at my gamestop so by the end of day 6 I'm returning this piece of junk for my money back.

From what I played of it ODST is a solid and fun game but I'm not going to accept an incomplete game. If Bugie does not adress this then its just Unforgivable, I honestly hope they do but big named companys always have a habbit of brushing the matter off.

Is this the same for all having the problems? I passed that sequence without problems. First, I deleted all my Halo3 maps before starting first the Halo3 mm disc. I then started playing the campaign. Currently on mission 2, no problems whatsoever. Yet. :)

I don't think for a minute old motherboards, gpu's or hdd's are causing the problem, perhaps older dvd-drives though.

Also I wonder about the guy in this thread posting the "disc error" problem on YouTube, this vid doesn't even show a error message comming up, just him pressing A button three times during a load. I would have liked to see a message displaying "disc error" if that is what you believe is happening, dude.

There are lots of people in this forum experiencing the same thing as i am. Not even Firefight works for me, try to start the game and it crashes when i press start match. This is no BS matter because i paid for my game and i would like to play also for longer than 10 minutes. I can try somehow to take a clip for Youtube today if the new copy i'm getting doesn't work for some reason. I'll get back to you.

Well I guess i'll replace the disc today even though I doubt that will stop the disc unreadable errors. Hopefully bungie takes this seriously and can resolve this with an update or something. The question is does bungie/xbox have the balls to admit if there is a disc or hardware problem going on?

I have been experiencing problems as of tonight. After the first level playing Co-Op. My brother got up to the 4th mission yesterday without any trouble. After the problem occurred, we couldn't even play Firefight. A message comes up under where you select your level and difficulty saying something along the lines of 'your players should clean the disc".

I just tried it again and it worked fine. Solo campaign resumed on 4th mission and Co-Op campaign started again. I am yet to try the 1st mission on Co-Op to see if the error occurs after the 1st mission.

I have also been having difficulties with multiplayer. I find a party very quickly, and then map keeps changing, then I just drop out and search again. This is more than likely my internet, though.

Has anyone had a response from bungie yet?. So far I have had the following problems;

freeze up after 1st cutscene,
freeze up after 1st mission
terrible frame rate/lag in firefight

I am also disapointed about the fact that firefight has no matchmaking mode. I thought it was supposed to be expansion but so far it seems like a let down. I know its not my system, its the game. I looked at it under a light and i see this wierd mark under the polycarbonate. Its so faint it almost blends in with the rest of the disc. It seems like this is a mass problem and needs to be addressed. Like another poster im going to wait 6 days and see how it goes and if no luck im going to take it back and get a replacment and if that does not work im going to go get a refund. This topic should be pinned so others having this issue can try get help.

I got screenfreeze during first cutscene.
Reboot --> screen freezes again.
Reboot --> RROD

Reboot without ODST disc --> RROD again.
Another reboot --> No more RROD.

So I attempt to play ODST again --> Screen freezes
And now I've rebooted my Xbox 360 7 times already and it keeps freezing during the start up of the Xbox 360...

I'd like some help.

wow...people are getting RRoD now. I thought unreadable discs was bad. The RRod actually goes away when u put in a different game? That is crazy..

  • 09.23.2009 6:46 AM PDT

No my RROD has not gone away. My Xbox 360 is broken. Can't even start it up anymore. With or without harddrive, RROD.

It's either Halo 3: ODST or the update for the Xbox that caused this. It's my third Xbox 360, and it has never caused any problem till today.

I was so looking forward to play some firefight with some buddies.

I wish Microsoft knew how to produce a proper electronic device.

it's not that I don't believe you folks, but try to be exact with your problems. If a system dialogue comes up saying "disk error" or similar, then there *is* a disc-read problem. Otherwise there's not. Ok?

Post you exact problems, and your manufacture date of your consoles in this thread (it's on the back of your console), and we may see a pattern emerging.

People are *not* getting RROD because of a failed disc-read, stop the nonsense.

Exact problem: after the Xbox 360 update, I start up ODST (for the first time). Screen freeze during first cutscene. Reboot--> RROD. I can't start up my Xbox 360 anymore at this time, because I keep getting RROD. (15 minutes ago it just screen freezed about 8 times during start up of the Xbox).

I was asking him. You know what is nonsense? Countless amounts of people that cant play this game because of unreadable discs. No one said his RRoD is because of ODST.

Ok Bungie folks here is the scenario;

Many must be familair with the issue of disc one not loading after first movie clip. Now on 3rd copy and same issue.

Managed to get running without HD attached so XBOX seems ok (Ok with other games anyway) Theres is a lot of HALO 3 stuff on the HD,many map packs from arcade would these screw up the start of ODST - do we need them now anyway?

Frustrated Dad using sons account ;-)

lol,,, says the guy failing to see that Bungie probably tested this game on like every XBox hardware configuration ever made so many times they could PUKE. Now, who's stupid?

If people contributed less moronic in this thread AND gave away their manufacture date, perhaps something could be done. Or atleast understood.

So if its not happening to you, or your not gonna fix it yourself with your infinite xbox wisdom, do us a favor and troll on a different thread.

Try blowing on the disc. Thats what I did and fixed the problem I had.

  • 09.23.2009 7:47 AM PDT

dont hate the player, hate the game

so the discs that have air bubbles on it are the ones that are messed up?..where are the air bubbles gonna be on the disc?

is anyone with this problem still having the same problem? just incase it was the server idk..

  • 09.23.2009 8:02 AM PDT

Ok ...so now game plays fine without a hard drive attached...what is going on here Bungie!!

  • 09.23.2009 8:36 AM PDT

Everyone in the hog:P

Same problem my xbox is a release console so that could be the problem. I'm thinking of just trading in my console and getting a new one, Would that work? Although this is beyond a joke though.

  • 09.23.2009 8:45 AM PDT
