Well guys, I for one am now convinced the problem is compatibility issues with consoles.
If you read my previous posts around page 50, I've tried four copies of ODST: two from my local Target and two from my local Gamestop.
I had two in my possession, result of returning the first Target copy and getting a new one, and shelling out the money for another copy from Gamestop then exchanging that one for another.
I went to get store credit for my Gamestop copy, a extra bit of money for the Elite I'm planning on getting next week after my pay check.
I decided to stop by my cousins house, who I may add was happily playing his ODST, and see if the copy would play on his Xbox. I told him the trouble some of us are having, and how I wanted to try my copy on his console.
It played flawlessly, and I almost didn't leave being drawn in to the game I was missing. We played the Campaign till the end NMPD HQ, before I decided to leave. In the car I had the idea to try the Target copy, so I went home pick it up, call him to see if its cool, and went back.
On that one we played the Campaign till the beginning of Uplift Reserve, before beating one round of Firefight on Crater and Rally Point. I couldn't believe this! If my console didn't RROD, which I assumed was the problem, I would really pissed.
I still haven't ruled out I wasn't my console dying, but maybe somewhere, something happen which made the game unplayable. I decided to keep both copies to try on the Elite to confirm.
We know Bungie and Microsoft are working on it, and hopefully there will be a way to make it playable on older models. I for one though, am pretty sure its the compatibility.
I'm gonna get some more evidence, go to my friends tomorrow (who hasnt bought/played ODST yet), and I'll post what I find.
