I remember having this issue with halo 3.
I've got to ways to work it out for you.
1)Call X-box live customer support
2)This is pretty much what Microsoft asked me to do:
2,1)Go to the HDD selection and press the combo x x lb rb x x, This will remove all updates and sometimes helps with this issue, first you should try to read it without updates, then update and try to read.
2,2)Try your disc at a friends house, or try a friends disc at yours. It may be a scratched disc that's causing the problem
2,3)Remove your HDD, if it plays now it's the HDD that's causing the problems.
2,3,1)Format the HDD, then recover the memory through XBL.
2,3,2)
2,4)If none of the above have worked, either repair or replace your x-box.
personally I'd recommend contacting XBL support, they'll give a more accurate assitance.
