Subject: Disc Unreadable

I've been watching this thread since the day it was posted. My friend had the disc read error and could not play with the rest of us.

I never had a problem. I played for two weeks and no problem. My friend exchanged his disc for a new one. Worked for two days. We played campaign together and he would get disc read error. He had to shut down, start up, and rejoin the party. We had to do this for every level. When we were done I noticed that the game saved our first level as completed on normal. We played legendary. The second level didn't record any campaign progress even though we finished the level twice.

Next night I go to play Firefight and frozen screen. After 3 min. of frozen screen I turned the xbox off and on. RROD. Game Over.

I have never had an issue with my xbox. Never. Called MS told them what happened. Support said send it in. My one year warranty is gone but the xbox is covered for 3 years for three red rings. Nice it's free, but no xbox for 3 weeks.

I told her my concern was getting my xbox back and having ODST break it again.

Me: Are you guys close to having a patch or update for the ODST/broken xbox issue?

Support:"We are aware of the issue and are working on it, but this is not why your console is not working."

Me: Maybe. Maybe not. But I don't want to get my xbox back after three weeks just to have it break when I play ODST.

Support: "We are aware of the problem and working on it. Thank you for your request. Is there anything else I can help you with?"

So they acknowledge the issue but obviously aren't anywhere near figuring it out. I don't want to be one of the "I'm leaving xbox for playstation" people, but the prospect of a console that works is very appealing.

Halo CE to ODST. This one of the best titles I've played. I would like for this to be resolved soon. Three weeks is ridiculous.

Good luck with that new Xbox man. But at least you got to play the story and finish. lol I can not even get into the campaign or firefight and only a few Halo 3 maps work. lawls at Bungie and Microsoft for being -blam!-s. I won't go to PS3 because I love my Xbox and Microsoft has done a lot for RRoD and E74, and Bungie made Halo. But come one we are being loyal and you are laughing, wiping your asses with are $60 on the -blam!-er while reading this thread. lol at everything.

I do have a question, I've read a few posts and have gotten the gist of what's happening but has anyone that owns an xbox 360 elite been experiencing problems. I haven't gotten my game yet and now I'm pretty worried.

Thats me i didn't get disc unreadable just my screen -blam- up on me.

So i returned my disc today back to gamestop and had me and the manager speaking with microsoft support about the issue we are having with this game.

Suprise! they had no idea about the problem right away. We went to the next teer of support and got a time line on the support we would recieve on the game. 2-3 weeks before MS comes out with an update to fix the everyones problem. and there response was that no one with the new elites is having the problem. so they were trying to get us to purchase a new system. NOT GAMESTOP but Microsoft. Its a conspiracy to get us to buy new systems so they can make money it seems. The manager at gamestop was not happy with them at all.

So if you guys are willing to sit tight for a couple more weeks you could get a fix...................... hopefully....

Looks like the error popped up again during my last multiplayer match. Damn, I thought I escaped this, but they keep dragging me back in!

Yeah I'm seriously going to call out conspiray theory on this one. I bet the warranties on all the affected Xboxes is also expired. So either you'll be shelling out $100+ to renew your overpriced warranty, or buy a completely new system, because apparently there's a "problem" with your system. Keep the number of affected systems small so the public doesn't catch on.

As much as I love the 360 and its games, I swear I have not had this many problems with any of my other consoles. I have a model 1 Sega Genesis that is about to become 20 years old and it still works. But now, here I got a system that is now apparently "broken" for the second time. If this continues to persist because Microsoft is making new discs for "new" drives that they never told us they were going to utilize, then I'm moving on to a PS3. To is completely unacceptable.

New elites not having problems? I thought the elites in general were supposed to be better. I have an elite from a year ago and it's acting up after tying to play odst. And now I'm having issues with Rock Band 2. Argh!

Got a call from that technical specialist from Microsoft saying they're still working on it. God, I wish they'd hurry up.

87th post...DIE THREAD DIE!

Posting in the thread you want dead is only going to bump it back to the top where more people can see it and thus post in it. Its quite counterproductive to post in a thread telling it to die.

Thanks for the bump anyway though, hoping for a fix sooner rather than later otherwise my interest in ODST is going to fade and my drive to play it is going to be gone.

Hell, my NES still works. And my friends atari still works. I really hope that two weeks bit is true...

My 'Bungie' logo loading screen is nothing but a pink screen for some reason lol

it's kinda funny, cos the game works like normal, just that specific loading screen (before the 'it's 2552 and we're losing lulz' one) is just...

pink.

It's not a conspiracy. It's the same with LCD t.vs. After 3 years or so the screen gets black lines which can only be fixed by replacing the screen with your warranty. If your warranty expired sux2bu and you might want to by another t.v. Same thing goes for xbox, they are not made to last.

  • 10.13.2009 12:58 AM PDT

then come out with a new COMPLETE system to get everyone on the same page. its called milking a dead cow. how about you buy us all new xboxs with the money that everyone should apparently make

SO far, I have a year old Elite, and my little brother has a 2 - 3 year old 20GB Premium. Neither of us have had any problems. One of my friends has a 6 month old 60GB and cannot play the multiplayer disc, but the campaign is fine. My other friend has a used 20GB with the same problem.

As it is, My little brother and I have completed the Halo 3 campaign on both Solo and Coop, as well have played MULTIPLE games of MP, my other 2 friends have not. I wonder if that has anything to do with the problem, as well as a DVD problem.

EDIT
I also have a 3rd friends who has beat H3 on both Solo and Coop, and can also play both discs of ODST. I'm not sure if this is the problem but it certainly is the trend that I am following.

in the end:
---------ME: H3 Beaten Solo & Coop, played MP - Can Play All Discs
-Little Bro: H3 Beaten Solo & Coop, played MP - Can Play All Discs
--Friend 1: H3 Beaten Solo & Coop, played MP - Can Play All Discs
--Friend 2: No H3 played - Cannot Play ODST MP Disc
--Friend 3: No H3 played - Cannot Play ODST MP Disc

It's a common problem that happens well after the warranty's expired. I'd call that a conspiracy.

In the same way that many peoples' 360s start having the same "problems" around the exact same time with the same game.

I'm just pointlessly ranting here though since I'm annoyed that this problem is still persisting. Still though the circumstances speak for themselves.
