Great I was just considering trying it tonight. (debates in mind) Wouldn't it be cool if we found a way to RROD and they would have to replace it??? Lol, never happens when we want it to.

In war, it doesn't matter who's right, it matters who's left.

At the level where you play as Romeo with Buck, whenever I am in the helipad and going on the thin bridge to meet Mickey and Dutch, even looking at their general direction freezes my game. I am confused on how that works

how many people have refurbished xbox's?

how many people that have refurbished xbox's disc dont work.

see i think that the refurbished xbox's can't play them because it is a mix of old and generations of technology in the console, and the odst game some how can be compatible with it.

wich is why when the people get new xbox's the disc usally works

All Microsoft is doing is making you buy a new Xbox 360 Elite. Why would they release a new format DVD that is not readable on older 360's. I'm done. Thank You.

Yet again, another reminder:

1st: Attempt the solutions on the first page on my post.

2nd: If that doesn't work, then PM your problem to Test Ninja Alpha with that user's format.

3rd: Post what you would like to express through this thread.

4th(Optional): Call MS Support and report to them your exact problem.

I send my xbox in to get it fixed and it came when ODST came out. It's an old model but it reads it fine. Maybe cause they opened it up and updated it.

Did anyone in this thread actually try boiling their disc? I don't remember.

I bought my Xbox 360 Elite in September 2007 for Halo 3. Didn't have any problems with it until May of this year when it got the E74 error. Had it sent in for repairs and when it came back it worked fine. Now that I bought Halo 3: ODST I'm having problems. The game runs fine for the most part which seems to be better than most people. But about once every hour the game will freeze for a second on that frame then move to the next frame that it would have been at a second later and freeze there and continue this about 5 times. It hasn't happened in loading screens or when moving between areas of mombassa with the large doors. It did happen once on the main menu though. This also happened to me on the Halo 3 multiplayer disc in the matchmaking lobby. I went and exchanged my copy for a new one but I'm still getting the same problems.

People were talking about going and buying a new 360. If it comes down to this being the only fix I would just go buy a new 360 elite, package up my old 360 in the new 360's box and return it to the store for a full refund. I shouldn't have to pay for a whole new xbox so I wouldn't care if this is being dishonest.

My xbox is about 3 years old. It has never been refurbished, repaired or anything. I have never had any problems with it.. still plays every other game I own just fine. ODST.. still not working one bit. I have never even seen the inside of a Firefight map... and still can't get past the second mission. I give them to the end of the week... then I get my refund. Two weeks with a $60 game I can't play is long enough.

Well... I guess this issue is in the hands of Microsoft.... (crap). Wonder if sales will drop a little for Halo: Reach... hope not as this is a Microsoft problem.

I doubt it will lower Reach sales at all.

We mouth the vilest sacrament
And adhere to these tacit skirmishes
All for one day ideal and saffron-drenched

Is it just me, or is microsoft a -blam!-? This is the kind of thing companies get sued for, they just sound like they want to shrug it off because a "small" portion of consumers have this problem. If they don't fix it we should go class action on their ass.

anyone else completely given up on the campaign? After not being able to do 3 of the levels because of disk error and losing everything and doing the last level for recon i must say this is the worst single player experience i have ever had.

  • 09.28.2009 8:50 PM PDT

No matter how much we complain and seem to be a large force upon the internet as of right now with this issue, we are such a very small sample of 360 users experiencing this problem that if we were all to right now stop buying all Microsoft products and return everything we own, it wouldn't affect them in the least. Is it good business? No, but the problem might be very complex and I seriously doubt they will spend the time and manpower on something that will only benefit less than a percent of their customers. Trust me, we aren't seeing a fix on this anytime soon/if at all

Thats hot. Went to go play chromehounds, disk read error.

  • 09.28.2009 9:04 PM PDT

Ha ha.

Rawr.

Installing to harddrive worked for all of 2 hours... Now I can't play anything anymore oh except I made it into firefight and 2 minutes in my sound cut out and 5 minutes later disc was unreadable.

all new games have been having problems on my box. It wont read only saying "open disc tray" at the main menu, so i have to open and close the tray over and over until it reads and then play off my hard drive, and this has happend with ALOT of my games, so my box might just be dying.

How the hell am I supposed to do my homework when I can't play odst?

Just a little update for all of you. I removed my 120GB HDD (upgraded) from my Xbox 360 and the game actually loaded and played through with no disc read errors or anything of that nature. I would rather play with my Live account and everything on my HDD though.

This tells me that it is most likely not a physical disc issue or a hardware issue but most likely a software based issue from the code on the disc communicating with the software stored in the HDD.

Thoughts?
