I'm having kind of the same problem. But the ODST disc works perfectly fine, it's the multiplayer disc instead. I put it in and than it will try loading, but before it can get to the Halo screen, it says "disc unreadable." I thought it was odd at first, so I wiped it off, put it in again, and BAM! worked. Now I have to do that every time I want to play it. Weird, huh?

disc still unreadable, and still no solution..bravo bungie..bravo..

It's amazing how this one game has completely messed up my xbox. Every other game I try will load 50% of the time. I get red rings every other time I start up the xbox now as well. Pretty pathetic. I got my money back on the game, but who's gonna fix my box?

We mouth the vilest sacrament
And adhere to these tacit skirmishes
All for one day ideal and saffron-drenched
We ate each other's hearts out of serving dishes

i really feel bad for you guys, this has been going on for weeks and nothing. I can't believe bungie would just shout out their fans like that. Not even a mention in the several updates they have had? not a mention in the news section? all you guys are getting is "call MS support." bull-blam!-.

Well, guys, I just came back to report a few things.

Apparently, I no longer get the errors on both discs. But I had them yesterday, so what's the deal?

Well, after several unsuccessful attempts to play Grifball on the second disc, I decided to satisfy my RPG fix by playing Mass Effect. I cleared data for games I no longer had and installed it into the HDD.

When I turned on my Xbox again around 2 o clock, I was able to play consecutive matches of multiplayer without any interruption. My conclusion: whatever this error was, I was able to fix it, or at least have a few hours of uninterrupted gameplay, by installing a game that doesn't get the error. But this could be me just talking out of my ass, so I don't know how I fixed it.

Anyway, I'm gonna try to play through the whole campaign to see if I'm right.

EDIT: Both ODST and Mass Effect are installed onto my HDD. My poor little 20 gig is gonna explode.

You cant put full blame on microsoft, bungie is responsible just as much as microsoft. For me the only games that dont work are bungie games. If the reason why they dont work is caused by something microsoft did i STILL blame bungie just as much. Its been weeks with this game not working, bungie should be on microsoft trying to get this fixed, or at least give its fans enough respect to keep good communication, this whole time the only communication i've seen from bungie is urk telling us ini this forum to call microsoft and reporting the issue,

I'm getting the disc is unreadable now, before i couldnt even get past the cutscene after you find dare's pod. So i brought a new hard drive and i hade the same problem, i installed it to my hard drive and i can now play up to the point where you find the flashback thing at the oni site. My disc has no scratches or air bubbles and my multiplayer disc works fine :@.

The only solution that "worked" with my xbox with ODST is to reset my xbox 50 times and then when you're lucky your xbox will see the game, then hurry and start the game, when you're lucky you can play some ODST.... So I played 2 times.... but don't have time to reset my xbox 50 times every time I want to play. Besides that my xbox get screwed up by doing this. Sometimes have to wait 5 minutes, just to see the xbox logo spin on startup.

Doesn't surprise me Bungie and Microsoft are keeping this under the table.

Don't hold your breath waiting for a fix...

Kat: The real Noble Leadership.

I'm guessing our best hope is the next Xbox Update November 17th-ish. If it doesn't get fixed then, well then they're not going to fix it.

I guess my own brand of "retaliation" is simply to buy a PS3 and grab some of the titles I was gonna buy on Xbox for that. Oh well, I have the satisfaction that comes from recounting this debacle to anyone (internet, RL, or otherwise) who is developing a chub for a Bungie game.

My love and respect for Bungie has been deleted, I never would've believed they would've let this go on for this long. Maybe it is Microsoft strong-arming them, but they could at least keep us informed; even a hint via podcast or something that "we'd love to do more/say more but our hands are tied" would've been awesome.

Brutal Legend will keep me occupied until Borderlands next week, which will get me through to Left4Dead 2 Next Month.

Left4Dead 2 is my Anti-Halo. Been playing Halo games since CE and bought the Halo Xbox Original to do it. Collectors editions all the way down. Reach is gonna be a bitter playthrough at a friends house.

This is so stupid well this is what you get for a game that was made in under a year. I mean this angers so many people i gotta get my xbox repaired now! This is unacceptable.

I haven't posted anything in this thread yet, but I have been reading it for the past few days since I too had the disk read error.

I actually got it on Halo 3 and grabbed ODST while at Gamestop exchanging my Halo for a new one. Neither would work when I tried them out.

Trying ODST without my hard drive worked, and the game has worked fine with my hard drive on ever since. Thank God.

Halo 3 still gave me a disk read error, I couldn't play the game at all. It would load very slowly (campaign and multiplayer) then eventually the error would pop up. The game had always made lots of noise in my disk drive.

Anyhow, I'm not sure why this worked, but I had decided after trying everything under the sun waiting for some sort of response from Bungie which never came, to play the game with my Xbox laying down. It worked.

Anyhow, it worked all day yesterday and I plan on trying it again today. Hopefully this can work for someone else out there too, I was really disappointed that I couldn't play Halo and I'm quite happy now that it's working again.

Thumbs down to Microsoft and Bungie for leaving us in the cold though, ya'll need to sit down and think about what you've done. :(

I had an issue with the disc reading when I went into data hive but once i installed it to my HDD it works. I was considering getting my disc replaced anyway since i don't want to have problems in the future...now im wondering if i should just be happy with the disc i have and keep it.

Tick-Tock, M$ and Bungie, Tick-Tock. I have about a week left before I have to return the game for a refund and your time is running out. If I don't at least hear word from SOMEONE that at least acknowledges this issue and offers some confirmation that a resolution is coming in the near future, my refund money will be going towards a new, lower priced, PS3. Tick Tock. Tick Tock.

I can confirm I'm now getting disc read errors the same as ODST in the original halo 3 game campaign. i Remember reading somewhere that the halo 3 game was much slower if installed to the harddrive, i guess they released an update that was suppose to fix that problem, and is now causing the disc read error instead... anyway an update on the situation would be nice.
