It has to be PCI also.

Just PCI? I thought AGP or PCI-express? And you can't use both at the same time...they're two different architectures on different platforms...

Also, what is your price range?

That was for his new machine, he wants one for his current one. The best PCI card out there is an Nvidia 5700LE.

if u looking at pci-express for a good price, the ati x700 pro is around $200. Supposed to be a good midrange card. I don't have it myself due to my income, but the reviews i've seen are ok. I have an ati x300 se, and it doesn't do that much. i need a res of 640*480 to have all video options on high and a good frame rate, with it overclocked.

No. X700 is a waste.

Lol, sorry, but it is below midrange of PCI-express. A 6600GT is far far better. The X700 is a lost card, IMO. It may have okay framerates, but if you're getting PCI-express for better graphics you don't want it. It's like a 9600XT or 9700.

The best PCI is a 5700LE. That's not great, but it's PCI.

I have my eye on the XFX GeForce FX 5200. I've played on a system that had it integrated, and it worked pretty well.... to be integrated. I just need somethin to play Halo for now. Im gonna buy a new barebone from TD that either supports PCI Ex, or AGP. I'll keep the one I'm making from scratch on hold.

I dont think that an Intel Chipset will let you do that. My Decals, Shadows, and Specular effects are greyed out too.

I was wondering if this was a good graphics card? PROLINK PV-N43VE(256KD) Geforce 6200 256MB 128-bit DDR PCI-Express x16 Video Card - OEM

No. honestly, the 6200 isn't that good. The lowest-cost card for PCI-e that is worth anything is a 6600GT or better. The X700 and below is crap, so is the 6600 and below. they're just not worth it.

How do you check what bus you have? (PCI, AGP, PCI-E)

Open up your case.

Heres a diagram of a PCI slot.

Heres the same diagram, but the AGP slot is circled.

Heres a PCI-E slot, it's the one at the top.

sry, the x700 just seemed good to me. Anything better than your own seems good. I'm sure you'd see my point if you only had an x300se SLD.

Point taken. Lol, sorry if I came off as being aggressive or anything - yeah, anything seemed better when I had an old Radeon 8500. I guess it is a bit of perspective and what you want.

I think that the 6600GT is still a bit ahead of an X700 - it's sort of lower midrange, while the 6600gt is a bit higher midrange.

A 6200 will ballpark with an X300/X600, sort of in between those two.
