I make a legitimate thread on the most logical choice for the next Bond actor, and you take that away from me by creating a parody thread indirectly connecting my thread to yours.
I hope your kids have bad influences and develop bad personalities. I wish this with all my heart.
There were grenade launchers in the side seats of Warthogs in Halo Wars.
The Brutes already have a grenade launcher.
We need a perfect side-seat weapon for the warthog.
Put these together. First off, if it was to be included, it would need to be drastically different from the Brute Shot. Like the overload ability you talked about.
Second, it needs to be able to counteract a rapid-assault vehicle's (like Warthog, Prowler, or Spectre) weaknesses. What are they?
1. Shoulder mounted weaponry.
2. Heavier or Air-based vehicles.
Let's face it: While the Warthog's machine gun may be and LAAG, it sucks against air. We need 2 features of it:
1. The ability to quickly take out or would those who reveal themselves with a weapons like the rockets or splaser, as these all leave a big trail back to the operator.
2. The ability to hinder the ability of vehicles.
I guess the primary necessary function is to make them hide. Which means it would function much like a semi-auto plasma pistol, in that it would hopefully both drain shields and temporarily stun vehicles. Give it some drop for each shot, make the stun ability shorter, but stacking. (ex. 1 shot= 2 seconds. 2 shots= 4 seconds. 3 shots= 6 seconds) so that you would need a bunch of shots to hit the vehicle to stun it for any period of time. In other words, 6 quick shots means it's done for 12 seconds.
And as for on foot, seeing a cluster of shots heading towards you as you charge up your laser would force you to decide whether to risk becoming even more vulnerable but sacrifice the kill, or live to splaser another day. And as for rockets and fuel rods, plus grenades, you would have to be close enough to hit the fast-moving warthog, which leave them vulnerable to the main gun.
However, on foot, it would need to be less effective. In other words, have it release an electric charge, that mildly damages flesh. Think like AOE plasma weapons.
So yeah. And that needler thing is pretty sweet, too.
