You have spelled out a picture perfect scenario of how to do this. Yesterday, before reading your post, My friends and I did attempt this and made it almost to the last wave on the fourth set before 3 of us got stuck all at once and our last man standing met his demise by a pack of drones and a few jackels.

Ammo was the main contributor to his failure as the famine skull was active at the time. I was very upset but could point the blame in no direction. We are trying again today and probably also going for deja vu....ugh....I might need some beer.

ROFL. my brother seems to play better with alcohol in his system, but im one year too young to be of legal drinking age! 21 can't come soon enough!

...

back on topic: Famine is a tricky skull to get around, just make sure that if you are scrambling for a plasma pistol, don't overlook the brute plasma rifles. And where the sniper rifle fails, the beam rifle wins.

beam rifle is where its at as far as i can tell...I like to wait for a chance to hit multiple targets in one shot also. Lag hasn't been too much of an issue...more of just over looking certain things or getting cocky/sloppy. Today is the day though!

If anyone is going for it today look for me online around 5pm eastern time! Me and brandon want to get this one done asap.

Last night three friends and I attempted to earn the Halo 3: ODST achievement "Vidmaster Challenge: Endure". During the bonus round after it said 'Set Complete' for the fourth set, the connection failed and we lagged out. We finished the fourth set on 4-player Heroic Xbox Live, and have a video of it being completed, but no achievement was earned. This achievement should have been awarded before the bonus round... but sadly, it was not. Is there anything that can be done aside from spending another 2.5 hours re-completing the challenge? I would love to create my own topic, but I just made this account and I can't make one for 24 hours. Please help!

Thanks for your time!

What is the best way to take out drones? The pistol doesn't seem effective enough, and the plasma pistol is too slow for shielded drones.

SMG or Brute plasma rifle. SMG is better on nonshielded drones, and Brute plasma rifle is better on shielded drones.

an hour...ususally people say 2.but the people i played with sucked an keep dying so i never got...and how do u del with the gravity hammer brutes when they use their power up thing
You can get lucky sometimes and kill them before they set off their invincibility cloak. Otherwise, i try to deal enough damage to them from afar so that they activate it 'early'.

If done correctly, you will only have to deal with a charging invincible brute for about 10 seconds or so, and once it wears off, rocket him down quickly.

Likewise, during anytime, an assassination is effective to kill (even when he's invincible!).

OP, Thank you so much for this guide. If I can actually get a team together, I'll be sure to give it a shot (tried this tactic solo, worked a dream)

Also, what the hell is up with the people who, by you creating and posting this guide, accuse you and everyone that reads it of cheating? I can see where they're coming from..ish, but i can't help the feeling these people would argue guide dogs are cheating blindness.

Alot of people (My friend included) had problems with that. Big map = Lag and whatnot. But in the same way Longshore has a giant room now, its due to draw/render time. If you can't see it i.e. it's behind something big, it dosn't need to be loaded. The more spread out people are/the more can be seen, the worse lag is. Only a theory, and a poor one at that XD But if you're having problems with it, keep everyone close or something lol.

I like that "guide dogs are cheating blindness" argument! Idk, but it doesn't bother me that much. It's their opinion and they are allowed to have it, but it won't stop me from helping out others!

This guide is played out on the map Alpha Site. If you wish to see a guide for other Firefight maps (eventually all of them), I ask that you visit This thread by SeasonedVeteran or This thread by Dropship Dude. If you want a breakdown of each wave, check out This thread by KingBalmung. If you need the Vidmaster Endure achievement, I suggest you begin here.

THank YOU!!!!
Even 24hours after release, People have managed to get all the vidmasters. To those that did this, I say congrats (and a pat on the back). I am here to give my advice and to answer questions on getting the vidmaster endure acheivement.

First: Dedicate about 2-3 hours of playtime, since you will have to conquer 60 waves of increasingly difficult enemies.
Second: WORK AS A TEAM! Communicate, don't do anything too bold.

Lets begin: The level of choice (ie the easiest) is "Alpha Site." The reason I picked this is because it is a close quarters map enough that the enemy has to be funneled into one location (the center elevator area).

Map of "Alpha Site" with labels
Left Stairs - 2 people hold this position
Right Stairs - 2 people hold this position as well
* - Location for SMG's, Pistols, and Health
$ - Location of Rocket Launcher
# - Location of Sniper Rifle and Shotgun
Arrows - Path enemies will take to attack you.
Explosion - Where the ambush (and action) should occur.
4edged star - grunt nest locations for Bonus rounds.

Thanks to Ketner for the map overview!

Before you begin, I recommend turning on "Grunt Birthday Skull." I say this not only for the entertainment it provides, but it has a strategic advantage (one everyone will like!) later.

I also recommend you familiarize yourself with weapon locations. Note that there are two stairways which constitute as spawnpits (where YOU will spawn). In the corners (to the side of the stairs) are caches of SMG's and Pistols. You will need to know this for later. Shotgun and Sniper are located in the middle pillar. There is a rocket launcher outside, in the middle of the main middle wall. CAUTION: These weapons can only be used once every 5 waves, so use them sparingly.

Let's begin. This strategy is going to be like washing your hair: Lather, rinse, repeat.

To begin, I recommend having two people set up in front of left stairs, and two people in front of right stairs, as to cover straight line sights of the ONLY TWO entrances your enemies can take. Hold this position the entire time, don't venture off (that's how you die!). The enemies will come to you, and you already have an ambush set!

The first wave is always simple: grunts and jackals. Take advantage of your pistol scope and pick off infantry from a distance. (I recommend for maximum points that you wait until grunts get into a group, and kill all of them at once for a killstreak multiplier). After the first wave, Have one person from each side switch their SMG for a Plasma Pistol (is he for real?).

Waves 2, 3, 4, and 5 vary. Sometimes it will be brutes, sometimes drones, sometimes a hunter will appear, and mostly, a combination of the above. In these waves, I recommend employing a similar stratagy as Wave 1, take out the weak from afar! This will leave you with the big targets (ie the Brutes).

*YOU WILL LEARN TO LOVE THE PLASMA PISTOL!!!*

After clearing out infantry (grunts, jackals, drones), all that's usually left are Brutes. Here's the quickest, most effective, and most point affective method for taking down these monstrocities. With a fully charged plasma pistol, fire it at the brute. NOTE that the brute will be stunned for about a second! Take advantage of this, pull out your pistol, pop a shot in his head! You will get a "My Clothes!" medal along with a headshot medal, giving you an extra multiplier.

My method for dealing with HUNTERS: Hunters can be very troublesome! To deal with them, have one person stay close enough to keep him from firing his cannon. Have the 'bait' person lead the hunter away from the team (have one person go left stairs and bait go right stairs for example). The three non bait teammates unload on the hunters back! NOTE during the black eye skull, that hitting a hunter in the back is probably the easiest way to get your health back!

My method for dealing with BRUTE CHIEFTAINS: I'd combine my methods of taking out a hunter and brute. Plasma Pistol the cheiftain, and tagteam him until he goes down. NOTE that he can activate invincibility! DO NOT FEAR! One swift smack to the back not only voids his invincibility, but kills him instantly. So employ the 'bait' strategy and get someone to get the backsmack.

He left out the easiest way to beat the chieftains... During the 4th wave have your designated chieftain killer get a fresh plasma pistol, soon as the 4th wave is over and you see recruitments on top the killer goes runs and gets the rocket launcher. Once the cheiftains come in 1 charged plasma pistol shot and 1 rocket will kill each one.

Bonus Round Strategy
- To begin, if you look up, to the left and right are windows above the elevator shafts. Here are where the grunts will drop from, making it rain grenades. If you are not careful, you will die very very quickly. My strategy however, is super easy and can get you a killionaire while your at it.

HOW TO GET THAT KILLIONAIRE (UPDATED!): With a rocket launcher in hand, go back to the far stairs (near SMG and Pistol spawns). Stand on the stairs, aiming your rocket launcher into the room (try to aim it so it hits as far inside the room as possible. Thats why you are standing soo far back!). The announcer will say two things: "All Skulls ON" and "Iron ON". Think of "All skulls on" as "get ready". As soon as the announcer says "IRON ON", shoot your rocket. If done correctly, you will get anywhere from a killimanjaro to a killionaire. I suggest you fire one rocket in one window, and another in the other.

Killionaire from Alpha Site. This was done solo normal, but at the 39min mark, I pull off the killionaire in extremely easy fashion. I advise you check it out if you get the time.

If you play conservative and follow this guide for the fist two sets, you should end up with a team total of over 35 LIVES! That's plenty to get through to the end of the 4th set.

Once you complete the 4th set, and set 5 begins, your acheivement will unlock.

REMINDER: Plasma Pistol + Pistol are your BEST FRIENDS against BRUTES (who in groups can be very devastating). Good luck! Have any questions? Post them here, and I will try my best to answer them1 Good luck, and enjoy your Road to Recon!

LINK to my VIDMASTER: ENDURE game. Yes, it was legit, including the medals. Take some time, check it out. Sorry I can't get a heatmap to help better describe locations (ie weaponspawns).

I've played Donkey Kong 934 times. That's a third of my custom games played.

Lol the strategetic advantage of grunt birthday party is that when the heads explode, it causes splash damage which can kill nearby enemies. I got a killionaire on a bonus round with one shot!
