ok when i trie to host people keep telling me that it says trying to connect and never connects.i turn off my firewall i dont know what it could be plz help.
system dell gaming pc xps with 3 mbps connection win xp.any ideas? could winxp sp2 have anything to do with this?

Turning off the firewall doesn't open the ports most of the time. Make sure the ports are open.

you have to change the ports your DS runs on. Put it on 2304 and 2305.

my ports are changed but when ppl try to join they never got past where it says trying to connect.yet i can join

if you know about command parameters (example: -console), then you can use this to change the port for the dedicated server. in the dedicated server shortcut, you would put:

-port x
(example: -port 2302)

i would recommend using a port other than 2302, since that is what halo uses. i don't think you need to change the client port for the dedicated server (default in halo: 2303) if your firewall allows it to select a port automatically or something like that.
