Because I play both COD and Halo and love both games I was wondering what it would be like if Halo had a more COD feel. Meaning a little more realistic and less arcadey, jumping around, for a more grounded strategical feel. I would keep all the same weapons and equipment so imagine a BR being like the STG or the Warthog Handling like a faster tank. I think it would make the game a little more enjoyable in that the enviroment would be put to use more and it would just be a turn in the series that would mix everything up.

well, one, bungie NEVER used a third party engine. they always make their own.

and two, when people buy a halo game they expect to be able to bunny hop, spinning around and yet landing no scope headshots with the sniper every 2 seconds.
turning halo into a CoD would be like turning mario into a devil may cry game.

ODST is more like Halo: CE, not CoD.

Absolutely not. If I want to play a very realistic grounded shooter Ill play call of duty. If I wanna shoot the -blam!- out of aliens Ill play Halo.

Exalted is considered "the highest" because you can't get any bans or warnings of any kind for quite a long time, which is harder than just being a member for a long time.

Even without comparing the actual gameplay difference, the COD games have always been weak. So many errors and glitches, it's impossible to count. I can't stand their design.

The endless number of physics problem in COD games makes me sick.

Halo might have some unrealistic sci-fi style, but at least the physics make sense for what it is.

Yes, I also feel that I would enjoy my games more if every single one of them was almost identical. [/sarcasm]

Halo needs to stay similar to the way it is. CoD is a good game - I am picking up MW2 this fall - but if the games are the same, there is no reason to buy both. There is no reason to play more than one. I like the variations. Different playstyles is a GOOD thing.

i would like to see

Halo Reach > COD Engine

  • 09.23.2009 9:49 AM PDT

I would agree that the halo engine DOES need a facelift in the sense of the physics, Deeper weapons, More randomness(in the sense of new gameplay), better graphics are always a plus, glitches are pretty much inevitable and can make some funny bungie favorites and new weapon physics. This should probably be on the wishlist forum but seeing as this one deals more toward the engine, i thought Id put it here. I dont want anyone to think I want halo to be more CoD cuz I enjoy the variety between the two. But i do agree that Halo: Reach needs a better engine in the sense of stats. Not design. Another thing Im worried about is the fact that if Reach DOES take place on reach with the Spartans(my personal theory on private cabooses forum), there will certainly be a much wider variety of textures and more dimensional elements to it. Just think about the woodland set up of it all. SO MANY DIFFERENT ENVIROMENTS MAN. And with the demand for better facial models each game, the strain on bungie to deliver this coupled with the strain on the Xbox makes me wonder if they can do it. And if so, How sh**ty will loads be? Or matchmaking? Just something to look out for.

If you have a complaint about the game, just take a step back and remeber how lucky you really are to even be in possesion of it when compared to the millions of people suffering around the world with not even a roof over their heads.

Whilst I do feel - and have said so in the past - that Bungie should take on board some of the innovations COD has made in the FPS market, however, I feel that they should limit themselves to the meta game innovations, the xp system, the challenges and the upgrades and such - but not the gameplay. Halo has a very distinct style, a style which I feel is superior to that of COD's, and Bungie would be foolish to rid themselves of it in attempt to copy the COD sensation; mainly because that's not even what's behind it anyway.

Halo 1>Halo 2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>Halo 3

Want to hear a funny joke? Marijuana prohibition.

I hope to god Halo Reach uses the Halo engine

  • 09.23.2009 11:28 AM PDT

In my opinion, Halo looks loads cleaner than CoD does. I mean, yeah I guess CoD looks "more realistic", but it's also very sloppy looking. I like the way Halo looks a whole lot more.

That's it! Will the AAA-Class Quality Engine for Halo: Reach change the Gameplay for Halo: Reach? No! Just quit yapping about Halo: Reach will be using an AAA-Class Quality Engine.

My name is from Star Wars. Now you know.

Feel free to follow me on my twitter and stalk me.

Halo I hope will never use an engine of another game. Bungie makes their own. Then Halo would not feel like Halo. It would feel like COD. That's not good because, you guessed it, it's Halo, not COD.

  • 09.23.2009 1:15 PM PDT

That's becoming a central theme on the forums nowadays.

It's Halo. Not CoD.

No.

The COD engine as a terrible simplistic engine. The games that come from it look like they came out 6 years ago. Sure, Halo 3's engne is dated, but it looks like it came out 3 years ago instead of 6.

That's a funny ass idea by the way.

Why does everyone have to keep saying the same thing? There's only a few out there talking to say something. The rest are just saying something to talk.

THIZ IZ H4L0 N0tz c0d G3tz it R1GHTZ!

Duh. Now leave it to the extremely smart people who talk about physics of the games and its design. Of course bungie uses their own engine, they have since the 1990's and before that, last thing I remember is Marathon though so Ionno.

Sounds like a bunch of Justin Bieber wannabes in here. I bet you all wear skinny jeans too.

Halo =/= Call of Duty.
If Halo takes on a more Call of Duty feel, then why even call it Halo?

Both games have completely separate, yet unique play styles. It would fail so hard if one tried to imitate the other.
