This is an awesome guide. I played a 2.5-hour game of Firefight last night on Lost Platoon, but we were not trying for Vidmaster: Endure. We only had 3 players in our party, and for the two who were not me, it was their very first time playing Firefight (they play H3 Matchmaking all the time though).

We very quickly fell into these same roles that you describe, except that our use of the Warthog was limited -- with only three players in the match, we quickly found that choppers allowed us to attack from two sides at once and also to support our laser guy.

All the same, when I do go for VM:Endure, I will be following this guide, and almost certainly doing it on Lost Platoon.

This is a good guide. If i decide to try hard to pursue the Vidmaster achievements, this guide will be something that i will use.

QFMFT

Props on the guide, well written and even a Fight Club reference thrown in

;)

We got this almost the exact same way last night except we only had 1 guy up top (Laser guy), the 2 guys on the hog team, and I was the chopper guy. "BC's Chop Shop" was underneath the stairs like yours...7 was the most I got stashed away at once. We got past halfway through the 5th set, had 25 lives and 1.8 million and had been playing for 2 hours and 20 minutes and all of us had to work today so we just started dying purposefully to end the game.

We had ours on Heroic, I'm interested in the change in points by moving up to Legendary and rolling the same way. With enough time and good internet connections, I can imagine the point totals breaking 5 or maybe even 10 mil.

Again, great guide for those that don't have the achievement yet

I don't want to ruin it all for u, but in my oppinion there are a few better solutions to get Endure. But for the guide, its pretty well done.

Halo: Out with a whimper
A fan made kick ass 2D Halo.

"The crunch on Halo 2 was, 'Oh my god, we're f***ed. We're all going to die.'" ~ Chris Carney

I just had a good (well good for me) solo run on Lost Platoon. I managed to survive untill the third round of set one and had alot of fun tearing the covenant up in my shiny chopper >:D

Between choppers I used my new favourite turret to keep the advancing hordes at bay. The warthog got knocked to the side by a wraith blast (screenie) which conveniently put it out of the wraiths view making it safe from those purple monsters. The turret easily made mincemeat out of grunts, jackels and drones but then a group of brutes came and ended my fun with their pesky pointy grenades of doom.

While the wraiths are dangerous they actually helped me survive by making me keep moving at all times (unless I had my laser on me >:D). My worst wave was a spec ops (invisible) brute drop, I used three lives on a single wave because of them.

I didn't see any mention of the snipe...do you not recommend its use? Or is it for the long range guy?

Yeah, we had the Long Range guy grab the Sniper and start picking off Jackal snipers or weak Brutes. It's actually pretty useful for headshotting helmet-less Chieftans.

Our teams general idea was to have a hog, sniper, and lazer. the only thing we need to work on is communication.

Aside from that, Invisable brutes seem to be a problem. Turning on your VISR completly blinds you, so dont give that as a solution. I've witnessed our sniper get incinirated from behind because of these suckers. Have any tips?

Or you could just play ONI Alpha Site and have somebody camp in the elevator so that the brutes try to attack him through the window (lol), easy assassinate, easy eventual achievement.

I received Recon for being awesome. Like it matters anymore. Thanks ODST! :D

I scored over 2,000,000 on the wide open map with the vehicles. I can't recall the name right now for some reason, but I personally think it's the best one for Heroic, mostly because there aren't any Engineers.

Get over yourself - drink vodka!

This tactic just netted us a solid 3 Million.

We're working on improving our tactics and weapon management. But we'll also we heading in Legendary next time so we should get a great points boost for that.

U Mirin?

Why don't you do any work on your chest or legs or something? You look like a cartoon character.

Me and pope dominated in hog before the game crapped out on us. And for the record, Alpha site is 10 times easier than Lost Platoon.

Happily married to Fatal_Coin_Vest since July 1st, 2009.

Thank you, Captain K Mart.

Ideally, at any given point, you would have three guys circulating around the complex with choppers. The fourth will be running around inside.

The trick with choppers is three-fold:

a) get in the choppers as soon as possible
b) don not destroy any choppers; whenever you have an extra, store it in the room with the laser- you'll need them
c) focus mostly on brutes in the earlier levels, eventually just kill everything, though

The last guy floats around in the complex. That was me, and I always ran around with a laser (to be used only for wraiths, and fuel rod gun chieftains later on) and an auto-mag. But whenever buggers would come, I would drop the laser temporarily for a SMG, the best weapon to take care of them IMHO. Use the auto-mag to kill jackals (perfect the two shot on shielded jackals) and grunts. Ignore brutes and hunters- that's why you have choppers.

Also, as a side note, there is only one wraith that you need to focus on with the laser, and that's the one that spawns on the "hill" (you'll know what I mean if you know the map). This is because the choppers can easily destroy the others simply by staying a ways away, and then moving forward and backward to dodge each shot. However, like everything else, later (specifically with the Tilt skull), the wraiths won't die from choppers and you'll need to use the laser on all of them. They're almost always a one hit kill until later, then it is imperative to aim for the cockpit to get the one shot kill.

If choppers aren't available (and trust me, towards the end they will be rare), anyone without one should stay inside. But if you're feeling confident, you can use the warthog. The key is to stay moving. I would only suggest this if you have plenty of lives, though.

Make sure you communicate- say how many lasers you've got left, ask if there's extra choppers, say if there's an abandoned one outside somewhere, ask if you need to laser something. Just say EVERYTHING

I just typed this up. This is my guide to getting Endure on Lost Platoon. It worked first try, quite well. I was the laser guy, and I agree completely with your segment about the laser guy.

If you want to post this that would be fine.

actually, you dont even need to follow this guide. just play on wind ward, its insanely easy. me and my friends were just playing along for the first 2 sets and then we decided to get vidmaster, and hey look we got it. live and learn, you dont need a complete guide to figure out how to get it. just a few tips. its not fun if you read a guide on how to do something, then its not an "achievement". unless youre like super obsessed with recon...
