I got this achievment on the first try. We did it on Lost Platoon, two people were in the warthog, one was in the chopper, and I had the sparten laser. It was pretty easy although on the last round we ran out of lives and it was only myself and the guy in the chopper left. There were about 7 brutes left. So I was busy shooting them with a plasma pistol then head shooting them, while the other guy was splattering the last few. So besides that it just took along time to get, about 2 hours.

Thanks for the guide ;)

I just saw that Microsoft is giving away 2000 copies of Halo ODST to students just for registering for a tech competition that they sponsor (Imagine Cup). You don't even have to compete in Imagine Cup...you just have to register. Pretty awesome. Worth a chance for all you students out there!

Some other useful tips:

Don't waste the sniper ammo on grunts. Save it for Brutes.

Its easy to jack a brute chopper. All you need is one charged plasma pistol shot.

When getting charged by a chieftan, run towards him and jump over his head - you will always get away. However, don't do this if he is standing still or already swinging his hammer.

Test your connection with the various players that you intend to play with. If it is laggy at the beginning, find out who the lagger is, boot them and get another player. It makes it much more difficult to get to set 5. (I am the laser guy and lag usually means two shots to kill a wraith).

Hunters and chieftans are easily splatterd with the chopper.

Stay away from grunts when the catch skull is turned on. Kill then from a distance.

Have the warthog kill the drones first thing at the onset of a round. They will wear you out.

Communication is key. Call out where the wraiths are dropping and whatever else is getting dropped. ie drones in front left, chopper in back left, hunter in back right, etc.

Dont die.

Great guide. Now all I need is to find three people that'll actually play with me. Dangit.

Relatively new development:

As soon as a chopper drops from a phantom, it stays still for a moment and you can instantly board it and run off.
In this way, you never have to fight a chopper and you can beef up your stockpile easily ;-)

On Heroic and up how fast do the other enemies chew you up though?

Update to the OP should be coming soon, to include new strategies and roles, explaining in detail what we did to reach 4.3 Million, and how we became the #1 Firefight Legendary 4 player Co-Op team.

I'm curious as to see how long that stands...when do we make the march toward 5mil?

What about the guy that got to 100m+ using a chopper? somebody care to explain how that worked?

  • 10.03.2009 10:51 PM PDT

Last night my friends and I tried to get it. Halfway through the second set, one of my friends had to go, so we told him to leave the Xbox on. On the last wave of the third set, we all died except for him. Surprisingly enough, nobody attacked him. In the end we ended the game, and only then did he come back. We went with the Chopper strategy and used the Warthog until we had enough. It was a great game.

He grabs a laser at the start of every round, steals a chopper, and sets up camp at the top of the circle on the South-West side of the map (lost platoon). He takes out only the West wraith when it drops and if there is a wraith on the East he gets off the circle where he is vulnerable and fights from the South-West side of the main building where the East wraith can't hit him.

If the wraith sees you and fires before the phantom leaves, it ends up damaging itself ensuring only 1 necessary laser shot to kill it. If a wraith is in a zone, another cannot be dropped there - meaning he can play it so that he only faces 5 wraiths maximum. If he leaves the East one alone until the round is over he can take his time destroying it, pick up his fresh laser, and prepare for the new round all during the intermission.

The chopper wheel blocks all non-explosive damage from infantry. Phantom shots, grenades, and fuel-rods will still kill; carbines, snipes, plasma, needles, etc will do no damage to you though. He can just face his enemies and destroy them slowly at a distance from the circle or the wall. He only risks anything when going for splatters against hunters and heroes.

If he dies, I assume he gets a chopper or drives his hog to a phantom and drop-boards a new chopper.

I don't believe that was his strategy as the heatmap of the game showed that all of his kills were in the building where the warthog spawns. Also, the drones / dropping phantom would wear you out if you were out in the open next to the drop zone.

Maybe I viewed it wrong, but it looked to me as if the Heat Map showed him getting kills from the SW side of the building. I know that's prime real estate for Bonus Rounds, and while the Phantom drops aren't identical in that West corner, the building provides all the cover he needs from the East Wraith.
I know i set up shop between the circle and the building for the bonus rounds.

You are right. The last time I looked at his heat map, the inside of the building was solid red. However, I just looked again and the "red zone" is outside of the building where you described.

Of the games that actually make it to B.net, Jacen. Anything higher than 5+million is likely to get dumped. I've had it happen 3 times in the past week.
