Well Bungie said that Halo: Reach would have Fire Fight in it if we liked it. Personally, I love Fire Fight. I think it's better than Gears of War 2's Horde. What about you? Do you guys want Fire Fight in Halo: Reach? If you want to see somethings added and/or changed in Fire Fight leave comments.

Yes, but fixed. No skulls. Not random enemies, but enemies that get progressively more difficult (species and rank) at a semi-random level. Also the lives pool should not be shared, it should be individual. Maybe have different kinds of weapon drops around the map in key locations. A Pelican flies over and drops some of those pods from Halo 2.

Also Custom Firefight games. You could change player and enemy traits, change what types of enemies spawn, vehicles, etc. and you could also Forge stuff. Of course these modes would not count at all toward your service record (like H3's custom), but there would be ranked (and social) Matchmaking for FF in which we have skill levels and military ranks like Halo 3's MP.

Maybe Clans could come back like in Halo 2, but since they were broken they would only be integrated into Firefight (squads or something)? Or fix them some other way and bring them back across the board.

That's what keeps Fire Fight exciting is the skulls and random enemies. If so then it would be like Gears of War 2's Horde mode where you know what enemies you'll get at a specific wave. Skulls add more of a difficulty to it.

You should at least be able to turn off skulls. Maybe skulls should be there in ranked firefight matchmaking, maybe they would be turned off in social matchmaking, and you could turn them on/off in custom firefight games.

Then, I don't see the point of having skulls in Fire Fight at all that way. Without Skulls Fire Fight wouldn't be Fire Fight. It would be Gears of War 2 Horde. I don't want Horde. I want Fire Fight.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

I like this idea.

Wow. Seriously, please, don't be a fanboy. Taking away the skulls would not turn Firefight into Horde mode. Does adding Infection turn Halo 3 Multiplayer into Left 4 Dead or -blam!- Zombies? No.

Steven

Yes, but they definately need to add a MM mechanic. I want to play firefight but my friends are slow to pick up ODST. Playing by myself is just depressing.

Considering that Left 4 Dead and infection are very very different that was a bad comparison. Now the way you were saying u wanted in having higher level enemies in the later waves and sets now that is Gears of War 2. No, I am not a fan boy I just state the facts. The skulls are Bungie's way of doing that.

They would have to be heartless to take firefight away from us!
They need to make it where you can search for team mates!
You need to be able to play with skulls on or off!
More big maps! (like lost platoon)
A mounted gauss turrat on some levels!
A new firefight dlc every 4-5 months

  • 09.23.2009 2:46 PM PDT

here's a better comparison, Counter Strike has Zombie Mod 2, where one player is a zombie, once a human player is knifed they become a zombie, does that mean Infection is a rip off of ZM2? no, taking away the skulls (as a menu option only) would allow people playing by themselves to have an easier time, or to play around to learn the maps, and their comfort zones. I think the option should be given, so those who want them off can be happy and those who dont can have them on.

Soon to be breaking news:

US Coast Guard prepares for massive rescue mission after Iranian fleet sinks off shore. Reports say a small thunderstorm caused most of the ships to simply...fall apart.

Firefight with Elites ftw.

Yes fire fight mode is excellent, and i like the fact that the enemies are random and skulls are added at random. It means you dont have the same experience too often which is better than knowing which enemies are coming. Knowing whats coming next means you can get the weapons needed and makes it too easy. Also if you make it progressively harder then after a while you will just end up having wave after wave of hunters which would be very boring. I think it should be kept pretty much as it is. It is definitely the best wave based mode i have played to date. Great work Bungie :D

Since firefight is based off the campaign engine; I think in firefight, they should occasionally drop in AI allies, like marines or in rare cases, spartans. In the grand scheme of things it won't affect difficulty; but it would help to change things up a bit and add yet a new layer of spice to the already seemingly great game mode.

  • 09.23.2009 4:55 PM PDT

Yes, and to input--> skulls and shared lives is one of the things that makes firefight as good as it is.

Anyway, the main thing I want extra is customizable options. I want to be able to pick my starting weapon, alter speed, etc.

  • 09.23.2009 4:59 PM PDT

So last night I was laying in my bed, looking up at the stars, thinking "where the HELL is my roof."

instead of taking away skulls completely, why not just make skulls optional? sort of like how you turn skulls on in campaign, just press x to go to game options the turn on or off skulls.

Wow. Literally against the WHOLE crowd here. But nah, I wouldn't really want fire fight in. I think Bungie should focus more on Campaign and conventional multiplayer before anything else.

So last night I was laying in my bed, looking up at the stars, thinking "where the HELL is my roof."

i think there should be firefight, mostly because alot of the major fps games are focusing on stuff like firefight. cod 5 -blam!- zombies, gears 2 horde, and left for dead survival mode. besides, some people buy xbox 360s just to play halo 3, and if reach is really the next big halo, it will give people just another reason to buy it.

Yes, with Matchmaking.

  • 09.23.2009 7:15 PM PDT

I haven't seen any huge problems with the way ODST firefight is structured. I love the health system. I love the maps, enemies, waves. I thing i dislike the most is the skulls. They should just give enemies more shields or something, to make it harder. Any one got any better ideas?

KEEP THE SHARED LIVE POOL. IT PROMOTES TEAM PLAY.
FIREFIGHT FTW!

Good Idea you should work for Bungie.
