Subject: For the love of God, please put this in!

In Halo 2, we were introduced to the Arbiter and the community was split. You either loved playing as ol' Arby or you hated his guts. However, what was more important than simply being able to play as a new character was this new story expansion that provided interesting insight into the background of the Covenant and eventually the Elites revolt against the Brutes and the Prophets.

I for one, LOVED this feature in Halo 2 and I enjoyed playing more as the Arbiter then I did as Master Chief. Being able to command Elites in battle was far more entertaining (thanks to their energy shields) then simply driving a Warthog with a "damage sponge" in the gunner seat.

The lack of "Elitage" as well as no Solo Arbiter missions in Halo 3 was very disappointing and so I would very much like to see the ability to switch back to a Covenant perspective of things in Halo: Reach. Nothing would be more satisfying then tearing through human vermin as another Arbiter.

So please Bungie... For old, Halo 2 Arby time's sakes?

tl;dr Put Covenant perspective back in please, more insight into Covenant etc.

I'm sorry, your argument is invalid;

Either,

A) It contained no relevant points.

or

B) You lack the intellect to engage in a debate.

I personally wouldn't mind separate stories from tow largely different standpoints. However, elites weren't on the same side as humans in Reach. It would be very interesting, and possibly very fun to be working against humans. However, I'm not sure if Bungie would consider that.

It might be pretty cool to fight the humans as an elite or other Covenant unit.

I can't really see why playing as an elite wouldn't work either as we all know what's going to happen at the end of the game so it can't really affect the outcome.

yes and it would be interesting to be able to play as a brute in multiplayer with armor customization like in halo 3 or another covenant species that's in the game

  • 09.23.2009 6:01 PM PDT

bungie should also add some other character that u could be, like ODST maybe a citizen from Reach trying to survive during the war or a regular marine that is trying to save his love one

I loved playing as Arby in H2, and was also really bummed when he wasn't playable in H3. I'd love to have multiple characters playable in Reach, either as Covenant like in Halo 2 or like it is in ODST where you play as different people on the same side.

It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

I would say make two campaigns. Both would center around the same story, as in Halo 2, but one would focus on the Covenant, the other on the Spartans.
One thing that I personally think makes people mad (and they might not even know it) is that with the Arbiter in Halo 2, the campaign seemed shorter than it was. This is because the campaign is divided, and people felt cut short on both stories, leaving one feeling cut short on the entire story.

throwning snowballs at cars is like doing a bell ditch. The end result is basically the same: sprinting away from the large man exiting his car who yells profanities, hiding behind a house, and watching as his car patrols the street, waiting to murder you.

Asking the flood for dating advice is like you going up to a bunch of starving Africans and debating the pros and cons of the bacon roll vs the double cheeseburger.

Some one who stands for nothing shall fall for everything.

You got to play as the arbitor in Halo 3. Shut up.

Are there any experienced suicide bombers?

Democrats are like slinkies there not good for anything but when your push them down the stairs they make you smile

no way you should be able to play as the covi's it would totally go against the story as no one knows who the covenent are at this time so being able to play as them wouldnt make any sence as all

People has been knowing about the covenant in about 30 years when reach is attacked, read the books

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

Bungie says they didn't want you to be killing humans, so I don't think so. The Arbiter's story was good but his missions sucked because you could only kill Covenant and Flood. He just seemed like the Chief with a girly HUD.

In halo 2 you got both sides of the coin.

I don't wanna only see heads. Maybe include a side story of a lone spartan in a Covenant spaceship?

  • 09.24.2009 9:26 AM PDT

Please bungie if you know what's good for you, don't make us play as this chump again. Ever heard of a little game called Metal Gear Solid 2? Raiden. Nuff said.

I don't think playing as an elite would be appropriate for Reach. Reach is very much a story about the humans and spartans. If bungie wants to give us backstory so badly write a new book or put make some cutscenes, don't ruin this game with some split-campaign bullcrap again.

I do love Elites

And though you fight to stay alive
Your body starts to shiver
For no mere mortal can resist
The evil of the thriller

I would love to play as an elite in story mode. not only do I like playing as elites better than spartans, but I would much rather have covy allies than human ones. Why would anyone not want to team up with hunters?
