In Halo 3 maps havent always provided the fastest gameplay.

For example:

Standoff (hence the name) is probably one of the most frustrating maps to play in team slayer. When the other team has control of the laser immediatly they control the entire map.
First they now control their warthog and your warthog is a deathtrap. Second you are forced to either go in your base or risk being killed to spawn endlessly outside of your base. Lastly by the time the warthog run is over they probably have a 6-7 kill lead.

You might ask Why is this a problem well here are some reasons. First this type of gameplay is one dimensional. If control of one weapon can make or break a game strategies become very limited. This ends up slowing the flow of a map or completely halting it. The team without the ONE weapon now has no options of pressuring the other team. This also due to another problem map design.

Their are many maps in halo 3 that have one area of control. For example: Vahalla. When a team gains control of top middle they effectivly shut down all lanes of movement and attack on their position. Places to be attacked from include pelican cave and turret cave. (in other words easily controlled choke points) The mancannon puts you in an area with no cover and possibly an oppurtunity for 4 brs to be shooting at you with little to no risk to them.

For Halo Reach to be an amazing game. (in my opinion) The maps need to have good lanes of fire, flow, and multiple areas of control.

wtf is the turret cave?

and yeah you suck a standoff. theres other power weapons like the missile launcher you can use to destroy the enemey warthog on that map. and then you could also use the brute shot, stickies, and energy drainer to take out the 'hog as well. you probably never played halo 2 or halo: ce. those games had some great maps

Turret cave is on the side of the map where the turret/bubbleshield/mongoose is. And the cave or room across from it.

And if the warthog driver is any good and actually has a gunner he will stay out of the effective range of those weapons where as the turret can still kill you outside the range of those weapons.

Never said I suck or am amazing at standoff the fact is its slowpaced and one dimensional.

they also need to get this right, they need to put team slayer games in the right maps.

stand of is not good for team slayer.

why not use maps like epitaph for team slayer?

every time i play team slayer its sand box or stand off

it gets old very fast


Agreed dont know about epitah but they definitely need maps that have quicker flow and less of standoffish type maps. I mean I like The Pit but it is very standoffish in itself.

I agree with you. If i felt like it I could mention all the maps faults but i'll give example.

The pit: control the sword room. They have to come to you in tight quarters and you have the sword for said quarters.

Highground: control the ghost and you can go on a splatter spree.

Last resort: spawn in the base, you get control of the laser, sniper, and high ground.

I havn't played Halo in a while because my xbxox is broke so i just realized im starting to forget what maps there are.

Plus on high ground if you get beach spawn your screwed cause you spawn out in the open for every weapon known to earth to kill you.

I see your point in this matter. It is true that some maps are poorly designed like Isolation for example with Ghost control and Rockets. I do also get frustrated when playing Team Mythic and just the original Sandbox is in play.

Many of the maps are One dimensional but the only reaso it is like that is because this game has been out for 2 odd years now. One person started the trend of going for sword on The Pit and then his/her team mate thought it was a good strategy and followed. So on and so on. But the thing was Bungie created these maps so people could be creative when in these awkward situations. I mean if someone has the sword on The Pit why not resort to sniper since it's a long range weapon. All I'm trying to say is yes I totally agree with you that some maps should be better BUT try different strategies to tackle these problems. You'll know what I mean.

On Standoff when i'm playing 1v1 against my cousin once he gets the sniper and laser i'm screwed.
